Time for my annual salute to the Missouri Tigers and invitation to all the other Tigers who visit this board to chime in on the season.

Conservative is the only word I could think of to describe today's win over Illinois. They didn't really play bad, but they just did enough to win. Two big special teams plays probably kept this from being a loss.

Brad Smith didn't look terribly comfortable, although he did throw several nice passes. They look great on the final touchdown drive, but other that the offense looked out of sync. I don't know if Pinkel was just trying to win this game without giving away too much and getting anybody hurt on the turf. They've got 4 cupcakes coming up now, so in theory they could lay low with the offense befor pulling out the bag of tricks against Nebraska.

This win was huge in that if they they should be double-digit favorites in the next four games. That would put them at 5-0 with the Huskers coming to town. Nebraska (nor OK State for that matter) showed me anything today. I think this could be the year that get that monkey off their back.

Missou is good this year I'll give you that.... But Illionis really blows, so the win wasn't that impresive

Who does Missou play against in the next 4 games?

@ Ball State
Eastern Illinois
Middle Tennessee State
@ Kansas

Kansas is a creampuff, but never underestimate the desire of the damned dirty Jayhawks to beat the Tigers.

Sorry, but Illinois looked really good today. Considering they had one returning receiver who had caught a ball in D1, I'd say Hayden and Hurst did pretty damn well. Towards the end of the game they fell apart tho, and I couldn't believe Bryant dropped that pass on 4th down. I didn't really think Illinois had a chance in this game going in, and maybe if they hadn't of had 50 false start penalties, they might've been able to score some more points. Mizzou played good, Brad Smith is awesome. I also liked how Hasley looked running the ball. While the Illini got stuffed a lot, they also broke a few big gainers. This season is gonna be much better than last year.

Well, we lost to Northwestern in the muck yesterday so our only goal this year is to beat you and K-State. Wonder which is more likely... ;)

That said, our coach, who I refer to as "jowls", doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence in our program. If we've just conceded to sucking, why couldn't we do it under Terry Allen who ran a squeaky clean program and was a nice guy from all I saw.

I though Nebraska showed promise. I think they will need to just get the offense working, and the defense look strong.

You can never have a good MU discussion without some silly Jayhawk sticking their nose in. :)

Josh, I know you always get on me for overlooking the Chickenhawks. Most of the time I agree. But KU was bad last year and I'm not sure they will be much better this year. If MU loses that game, I will personally beat the crap out of Coach Pinkel.

I was horrofied to learn that I actually agreed with something Jason Whitless had to say. If MU turned Smith lose, I think we yesterday's game easy.

chief, I learned the hard way my freshman year not to overlook the Jayhacks.

They were winless as Mizzou went to Lawrence to close the year out...and Mizzou got shut out.

A lousy end to a crappy season, that was.

Good game. I thought Illinois played very well, that freshman RB had a great game. Missouri looked a tad flat and maybe reserved, I'll pass judgement after a Nebraska game.
