View Full Version : History Files and Injuries
This started happening about 1977 on :
These guys did a great job. However after playing about 20 years I am experiencing "MASSIVE" amounts of injuries.
I only hire coaches with excellent in aviod injuries.
I only draft and FA guy with over 70 in endurance.
I set my training room time in training camp to about 2:30 hours.
This also was not a 1 year phenomena. In the past 10 years I could barely field a team with at one point 10 guys questionable or doubtful and 10 guys out. (5 with season ending injuries).
One wierd thing is that my O-line or secondary never get injured.
My D-line and skilled O guys go down constantly. I see this also happen league wide. I wonder if it has something to do with the modified files?
I do not see this if I start a league with Sol's rosters.
Maybe Jim could let us know if this could be the case??

I'm not sure why this happens. I think it has to do with talent gap. Since there are less superstar players, players end up playing longer and become more succeptiable to injury. IE a player that would normally play 8 years, plays 12 years but in those extra years they don't play very much because of injury. Also since there aren't has many superstars, starters play more, therefore they get hurt more. However that being said, DL seems to get hit extremaly hard with injuries in FOF 4 in general.
Is there anyway around this. I had to quit my 25 year league because I could no field a team. I had 10 guys out and could not sign anyone else due to roster limitations.

I am just entering the 82 season. I have had the same experience with injuries. I am getting pretty frustrated with all the signings I have to do to complete a team to put on the field.
One thing I have had to do is be less choosy when it comes to putting players on IR. This frees up roster spots and (if I am not mistaken) unlike the real NFL, you can put more than 2 people on IR during the season. I have had to put up to 6 guys on IR to make room. Yeah, it sucks but it's the only way I have found that will let you get through a season.
I have yet had a season that I could not complete due to injury or cap issues. Granted, I haven't made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs in 12 years, but I am still trying. I tend to finish well enough to not get low draft picks, so i must be doing something right, right? hehe.
I am hoping my ship will come in during the mid to late 80's.
Is this with careers begun after applying the FOF4c patch?
I wiped the game clear off my system. Installed from the CD. Then installed the 4.0c patch.
I then began my season in 1970 with the roster file and went from there.
I am at a point now in 1987 where I and the rest of the teams in my league have over 10-15 guys injured at one time with about 5-10 OUT. I currently get at least 4 guys go down every season with season ending injuries. Even if I don't play them when injured. I am also seeing FA's (checked their stats) with maybe only a half season to quarter of season played.
One example is Joe Montana he went down Questionable 4 weeks in the second game. I sat him till he was Good (no injuries) on his next start he went down with concussion (out for 23 weeks). This is also happening to my DL.
Like I said my O-line and secondary rarely get injured. It's mostly D-line lindbackers and all skilled guys on O.
I have started over three times and advanced to about the same point each time 1970-1987
What's your take
Let me know how you progress I was always hopeful it would turn around but just gets worse no matter what I do.
Hire only coaches with excellent avoid injuries
allow 2:30 time in training room
only sign guys with above 60 endurance
make sure I have abundant backups for the oft injured positions
