Warhammer is two miniatures games put out by Games Workshop (http://www.games-workshop.com/front.US)

Warhammer Fantasy is a (what else) fantasy battles games, pitting various armies against each other. Kinda like the Lord of the Rings battles you see in the movies (they do a LotR game too).

The races vary from the Empire (Humans who are beginning to use black powder weaponry) to Brettonia (think the flower of chivalry, the knights are the big guys in this army), to Chaos, and the various fantasy races (Dwarf, Elf, Lizardmen, ratmen (Skaven) etcetera etcetera)

The other game, Warhammer 40K, is set in the far far future, the army I play (Space Marines) protect the Imperium of Man from the predation of other races, and swear to destroy Chaos wherever it's found.

Fozzie, you play? Dude we gotta get together! I've never actually played a full game, but I've got an empire army built up and would LOVE to get in some real battles. I'm in Hudson MA, about 30 minutes to an hour from you!!

RendeR: Cool.. the game I watched last night before my 40K Space Marine/Eldar game was Lizardmen/Empire. I don't have a WHFB army yet, but I was told that I could borrow others armies..

the place I play in (Milford) is going to be running all the GW stuff, WBFB and 40K Tuesday and Thursday and Blood Bowl (There football/rugby/kill the man with the ball (literally) game on Monday Nights.

Also, there's a Games Workshop store up in Harvard Square in the city.

IM me at CambridgeForever, k?

Its a great game. Games Workshop though is the devil. They have some crazy business ideas. Its a miracle to me that they have lasted this long.

Agreed, that's why I don't buy at their store.. I got a lot of my army from EBay and the like.

Also, my AIM is CambridgeForever sorry ;)

when you have the demand for the game, which they do, you can be morons on the business side and still succeed.

Fozzie: I'll message you in a few, I'm at home with a bad back and I have to get the laptop set up in the other room so I can lie down again.

Yeah. I used to play in Highschool, back in the early 90's. I liked the epic game. I keep thinking bout getting back in, but I can't paint the damn things. (that and between computer games, football, and rpg's i have no money and time.)

Blood Bowl was fun. I could never get anyone interested in a league, though.

Bah... sounds like a new-fangled, dorkier version of D&D to me...

... not that I know anything about D&D or anything...

For a while, that was the case here too, thankfully, folks came up with ways to play the game online ;)

Always wanted to play but never did. I have played Space Hulk a few times, which takes place during the Warhammer 40k game.

I play on a regular basis. Also do the Rogue Trader tournaments from time to time. I play Necrons or Tau and I've started on a regular ole' space marine army.

As for Ebay items. If you buy a miscellaneous lot and want to strip the paint, if they've used the regular Citadel/Games Workshop paint, I've heard brake fluid works wonders for stripping.. haven't tried it yet the. Heard it doesn't harm the detail on the plastics either...
