They proclaimed their "Unequivical Homosexuality" and passed out free condoms. The bill passed today and Davis vowed to sign it

Anyone who voted for Davis, thanks for bringing California out....

Pro and con - my last trip to California:

Pro:

Went to concert at a club and it was smoke free. No need to segregate the clothing worn that night from the rest of the baggage we took home.

Con:

Had to deal with the emotional wreckage of my then-2 year old when we were forced by a Beach Commando to put back a small plastic cup's worth of shells she had gathered from a state beach.

This is a microchasm of the problem with California. $32 billion state defecit, and we're paying some asswad to keep kids from taking seashells off the beach.

Now thats funny!!

What about the 1500 new employees at the DMV we have to pay to help make sure all of the illegal immigrants get there drivers licenses? Oh wait, all of those employees WILL be illegal immigrants.

F...wad was a fav of mine back in the day, but it implies a fairly high degree of malevolance on the portrayed party's part. Asswad, on the other hand, seems to imply a certain amount of unintentional ignorance on the portrayed character.

Like an F...wad is someone out deliberately trying to screw you, and you alone for his own evil reasons. An asswad is really just a dufus trying to enforce someone elses stupid bidding, but he's doing so with the best of intentions.

I dunno, if I have to use an "ass" word that's off the beaten path, I kindof like the term "asspuppet".

These are publication-quality definitions. I applaud you.

I never knew such subtle distinctions existed for words containing 'fuck' and 'ass'.

I prefer ass-monkey...

Edit: Or if I feel like using the F word, I can go with "monkey fucker"...

Then there's the ever-popular "asshat"

cuervo72

Or "no talent ass-clown". That's a good one. Another phrase I've always liked is "ape shit", as in "If this team ends up running the final kickoff back for a game winning touchdown against me, I'm going to go ape shit".

Funny, I was thinking exactly that after Hall kicked that winning field goal against the Jets last night.

Well, since I'm here, I guess I might as well admit that we lived near Guerneville for 5 years when I was a kid. However, back then, it was just a little rural resort town on the Russian River. I haven't been there in about 25 years, and I have heard that it has changed a lot since then.

Hmm... were there a lot of men walking around holding hands and kissing in public there 25 years ago? If so, then, yeah, it hasn't changed much. ;)

No, it wasn't like that when we lived there. It was just a typical small town then. From what I have heard, the change has happened in the last 15-20 years. Since my great-uncle moved from there to Santa Rosa in the late '70s, I've never even had a reason to drive through that area, so I haven't seen the change first-hand. Just read and heard about it.

It's pretty disturbing. I mean, literally, the entire town is like some sort of gay theme park. The only straight couples you see anywhere are the tourists, made obvious by the general uncomfortable manner in which they walk around trying not to look at anything or anyone. All the shops seem to be owned and operated by crew-cut wearing lesbians. Men walk around dressed like the village people (or like they're trying to get a job working at Hooters). It's the kind of scene most people only expect to witness in movies like "The Birdcage" or "To Wong Foo: Thanks for Everything."

sounds like the middle section of Duval Street, or the section just north of the French Quarter.

The beauty of the word ass is that is goes with so many epithets.

Assmask (Someone with the face of an ass)

Assternator (Some "cool" guy who quotes cheesy movie lines too much)

Asstanding (A backhanding compliment to a guy who thinks he's hot but really is the loser of a group)

Assblast (A thing you do not want to stand near)

Etc...

Asstanding... great word... I must add that to my repertoire... sounds synonymous to "craptacular."

Or perhaps Assaholic- Some guy who is far from "cool" who takes shelter in the praise of others, worries about his average number of posts per day and is far too ocupied with the word ass.

Hey Cuervo, I've never understood the description of New Hope as some sort of gay mecca. Ive lived here all my life and while the gay population is very large it doesn't at all resemble a "gay theme park",
We have alot of gay bars and a large gay population indeed but really it isn't at all like what Franklin was describing.
i'd describe it as more upper class snobby than anything.
Id rather have 2 guys holding hands on every corner than 5 antique stores on every block.

Wow, your only 2 posts are in threads I started :)

I know New Hope isn't that bad, it's just that growing up in Bucks County it just had the reputation as a gay town - and also a place where yes, upper class snobs (which Bucks County has its share of) went to shop.

For a minute there I thought you might have been talking about Frederick - the downtown area has more than its fair share of antique shops. :)
