Same here, got the issue arrived today. I am about ready to cancel already since 1) they put Favre on the cover and 2) they called him the greatest QB???? What a crock full of shit.

Greatest ever, or greatest right now?

Who's better, right now, in your opinion?

Speaking of TheSportingnews.com, take a look at the fan poll over there:

Britney Spears perform: (38%)
Testaverde replacing Pennington as Jets QB: (21%)
Steve Spurrier's 2nd year team in D.C.: (21%)

Freebie came today also. Please , I'd give my right kidney (which I could sell for 300k on ebay) for a free subscription to SI, or any other good sports/business mags.

I don't know, but I almost bumped the thread where they listed the link to the old sign up, not this one.

I've been getting offers from them to resubscribe for a couple of months now. Sorry, I like the mag but I ain't gonna pay for it. I barely manage to read the magazines that I DO pay for...

I think my mom wants to subscribe to it so I have something to read in college. I better tell her to hold off on that and see if I can get another free year, or just ask to take the ESPN the Mag or SI instead. :D

In a way you have a lifetime free subscription just without delivery.

Your mom doesn't think you are going to have anything to read in college?

Why? ESPN the mag and SI are both all flash and no substance. Sporting News spends much more time on the actual sport than the celebirty.

I've had a paid subscription to Sporting News for almost three years now, and have no idea what I would do without it. It's nice to have a sports magazine that talks about, well, actual sports.

I also have an ESPN The Magazine subscription, and while I like it better than SI, its nothing I couldn't live without.

They probably sell your address.

I see...I chose Shorty's method, and used my cats name. But I actually crated a yahoo account for her. Did I not even need to do that? Well, either way, it's about time my cat finally started using the internet. Next thing you know, she'll want all the gadgets -- cell phone, mp3 player, and the like.

I have an email address set up that I use for all these kind of signups. It is always overloaded with spam, but I don't have to worry about clogging up my normal inbox.

Ksyrup
03-16-2005, 08:32 AM
Don't you need an email address you can actually check in order to verify the subscription, or is that just a lie to try to get you to give a real email address?

KWhit
03-16-2005, 08:33 AM
I think it was a lie. There was no verification needed.

http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif To be fair, for the subscription I signed up for to be sent to my home, it is now my other cat who gets to have his freebie of Sporting News. I'm sure Smokey will be excited.
