Just so that every surprising game has a thread. :)
Why does OSU always let teams hang with them like this?

Because they're not that good. :)

Yeah, they did this last year and all they did was go undefeated and win a MNC.

Dola...not saying they will this year. I think losing Clarett equals two losses (which is roughly what he won them last year).

Krenzel is 4-19 for 61 yards and 1 INT so far.

Personally, I feel that the one thing that makes teams great is their ability to win when they play badly.
Ohio State is a great team, they find a way to win no matter what the problems are they are faced with.

I said it in the Clarett thread (and was throughly dismissed), and I'll say it again - Krenzel is a bum that got incredibly lucky last season.

I wouldn't call him a bum...but he's an average QB at best.

Krenzel is 15-0
HAIL KRENZEL
but seriously, he's of course no nfl caliber qb, but i love how the guy plays

Average would ever be streching it. I'd put him a step below a poor mans Trent Dilfer :).

This doesn't look good for UTEP, who has to play SDSU next week... :(

Krenzel has one thing going for him. He can, in the end, win. He doesn't look pretty, and he doesn't have great stats, but he wins. He probably won't even be drafted in the NFL, but as far as college goes he's been great. Even if they lose a game or two this year, like I think they will, he'll go down as one of the great OSU players.
In the end its wins that count, and he almost always makes a big play to get a win.

then by your standards there is no such thing as a great team, because EVERY team plays badly at some point in the season. Everyone has a bad game or a bad string of games. Its the teams that can overcome that and still pull out the wins that deserve the credit of being called the best among their peers.

Bingo. I doubt if there has ever been a Championship team that has ever played a full season without at least one game where they had no business winning. I know I can't think of one in recent history.

I can't either. Most teams win TWO games they have no business winning.
The fact is, that Ohio St. defense keeps them in every game. It's like Oklahoma. They can play poorly and get away with it. The problem is, just like Oklahoma the past couple of years, that style of play will catch up to you. Only the rare, truly special defense will not have an off day or face an opponent that just matches up well with them.
Ohio State had a dream season last year. Odd are this year someone will jump up and score 31 one them. . . they'll likely lose that game.
As for Krenzel, all I know is that he makes clutch throws. I said in the UCLA/Colorado thread when talking about Klatt that some players just have "it". That special something which lets them perform their best when the chips are down. Krenzel is an "it" guy to me. He won't be an NFL QB, but he has that special quaility which allows him to play beyond his abilities when he needs to do it. He'd be welcome on my favorite college teams ANYTIME.
