Fox just reported that Kurt Warner is in a New York hospitial with sypmtoms for a concussion. According to Howie Long, it was suffered in the first quarter.

If they knew that then why did they leave him in the game? I'm no fan of Warner's, but certainly you don't want to see him get hurt and play.

This is a disgrace. When in doubt, pull him out. His life is much more important then a game.

This could explain that wonderful play in the end zone where he just decides that keeping it is much better than throwing it, wait now I will drop it. Seems fine to me.

I don't know if this play was before or after the injury though.

Fired for that, AND because he couldn't throw together a game plan for the first game of the year.

When is this guys leash going to get pulled shorter and tighter?!

If Martz would have known that, he would have put Bulger in. I think it's bs, if Warner didn't feel right, he should have let Martz know.

I'm so pissed he didn't thrown Bulger in to maybe build a little momentum. Warner didn't look right today. He had lots of time to pass, but made some wierd reads and plays. Heck, he should have thrown the ball away when he fumbled it in the endzone. Losing two points is better than seven. SHeeeesh....

Martz and his arrogance is starting to wear on me. I can't wait to hear people calling KFNS tomorrow. LOL!

It should be fun next week as I watch them play SF from my seats.

Who says he knew?

Also, his teams performance will be more than enough justification for a termination, I think.

Funny, 4 or 5 wins a few years back and the Rams were happy, lose week one now, fire the coach! Down with Communism. Rape and Pillage!

Martz has a plan. It's the "We have a powerhouse of a team and can do whatever we want, whenever we want." He is too blind, arrogant (most likely the case) or stupid to realize that is not the case and that he needs to make some kind of changes from time to time.

I don't think its the, "we have a powerhouse team", he just thinks he's the smartest person on the field.

I've had multiple concussions. You don't really know that you're messed up until later.

It's like there is no future & no past. Everything is in the moment, or in the 5 seconds before that. You can't even say it's like being in a fog, because you don't realise the fog is there. You don't self-diagnose concussions, because you have no idea that anything is wrong.

I played through concussions on 2 seperate occasions. Once I was playing soccer, so there wasn't a whole lot to reveal it until the game was over.

The other time was during summer football practice. Again, there wasn't a lot of mental activity going on, just running & catching.

The other two times I got concussed during a FB game or organised practice, it was discovered in very short order. Unless he's always a doofus (which actually was my take on him from every interview I've ever seen), it becomes obvious that you're not mentally tracking...at all, in very short order.

I doubt he "knew" Warner had a concussion. I doubt he wants anyone to get hurt, especially when he has a more than capible backup riding the pine.

Martz said he knew something was wrong and "I regret playing him."

This is just VERY wrong.

I like Martz and Warner;)

Actually why don't you guys give credit where the credit is deserved and due...THE GIANTS DEFENSE!!! IN ONE WORD...FANTASTIC!!

I just saw the fumble in the endzone and noway was he given his concussion on that play, didn't even hit his head! I think it was just the Giant's D that made him sick and dizzy!!

But he just wasn't himself. He looked confused when you gave him a play, and I shouldn't have played him. I regret playing him.

If he didn't "know" Warner was seriously hurt, he's an idiot. This also isn't the first time he's left Warner in with a concussion. damnMike is right -- you can't blame Warner for not pulling himself out of the game because he was not in the right mind to make that decision. If Martz really thought Warner was looking confused when he gave him a play, he should asked for a trainer.

I don't know who is to blame, but ultimately it's the coach's fault because he's the boss. If what Martz said is true, he is guilty of poor judgement at best, criminal neglect at worst.

Criminal neglect? You're kidding, right? The loss today comes down to the fact that hardly anyone on the Rams team decided to show up today. Maybe if the Rams offensive line had decided to block someone, Warner wouldn't be in the hospital now. Are they negligant, too? They sure looked that way.

I just remembered something, didn't Troy Aikman play in a Superbowl he doesn't remember. Shouldn't Jimmy Johnson be fired too. Wait...

Just based on his statement after the game I would say he's an idiot. "Hmm, my quarterback looks dazed and confused, I guess he's okay." In a game where concussions are not rare a coach should be able to see the signs, especially a dazed and confused quarterback.

It's not like me out there, I haven't had any experience dealing with someone with a concussion so I don't know the signs. But I think I could tell when someone just isn't being themselves.

Edit: Just noticed this was post 2000 for me. Where are the dancing girls? Please don't send over Fritz. ;)

EagleFan, the dancing girls come with post 3000. At 2000, all you get is Fritz, Marmal or Franklinnoble sportin' a speedo. Take you pick.

Concussed is like one of the coolest words ever. My one experience with a concussion plays to both sides of the argument....I dropped ten feet straight on my head onto solid ice while snowboarding a few years ago, and immediately afterward I was kind of shaken up, and missing half a tooth, but not so bad that I didn't consider continuing to ride.

My friends all asked if I was okay and, much like Warner apparently did, I said "Aww, I'm ok, give me a minute". I was a little shaky, but nothing that seemed out of the ordinary, or any different from how I would've felt if I had landed on my hip instead of my head. Luckily I decided to head in, because two hours later I was puking every fifteen minutes, dizzy as hell, and literally couldn't read or recognize individual letters or numbers.

I could see how if Martz didn't play close attention, Warner would've seemed ordinary enough initially, but as dMB said, it should've quickly become obvious that something wasn't right, especially if Warner was hurt before the half. Even if Warner seemed competent enough, anyone involved in football should be familiar enough with the symptoms of a concussion to notive the indicators....when Martz says "He looked confused when you gave him a play" he is just inviting criticism, and rightfully so. How/why do you keep an obviously confused player in the game?

I hope Martz coaches the same way against the Niners next week. 'Knock on wood'. And I hope Warner starts too. But the real bad thing I noticed about the Rams is their offensive line is still bad, really bad. Martz is an idiot, he's too pass happy, they need to give Faulk the ball.
