I had my second Public Admin class today (PoliSci 270). For the class, which is 75 minutes long, we put 10 cities on the chalkboard, and discussed various factors that cities could and would have in order to be considered by the NFL for a new team.

So, in other words, what would you, as an NFL person, want in a city? And we talked about measurability, pertinance, and so forth. The idea being that this is a professional type assignment that real people do all the time. That is what public administration is about, decision making and reasoning.

Plus is was like Front Office Football: The Classroom.

I hope you brought up things like "Entertainment Competition," "Trend-Setting City," and "Desire for New Team."

Heh.

Here were the ten cities we discussed:

Birmingham
Riverside (as a nod to FOF)
Manchester
Charlottesville
Honolulu
Las Vegas
Salt Lake City
Portland
Toronto
Monterrey (Mexico)

They chose Toronto and Portland as the sites for the next two expansion teams.

I am from Manchester, but I go to school in Boston. Did anyone actually think Manchester could have a football team. I don't believe there is logically anywhere to put a football stadium unless we demolish our airport which seems to go daily.

I said that Zeus had more illegitimate kids than an NBA player. My freshmen just stared at me.

What is Public Adminstration exactly? I though about going for a Masters in it.
