The Leslie High School girls' basketball team failed to score a single point in a 61-0 loss to host Olivet on Tuesday night in a high school game in Michigan.
Leslie's players missed all 24 of their shots from the field and all four foul shots. The Blackhawks (0-13) entered averaging 15 points a game, with their highest output being 22.
Olivet (14-0) is ranked third in the state in Class C and already beat Leslie 56-9 this season.
"The whole bus ride home, I couldn't believe it," Leslie coach Jay Harkness told The Jackson Citizen Patriot. "We missed layups. We missed 2-footers. Everything that could go wrong did."

Ouch.
They are averaging 15 points per game? I take it UCONN and Tennessee aren't bothering with any scouting trips, huh?

They've played each other twice already? When I was in high school you could play both football and basketball and never have the practices conflict because BBall didn't start intil December

Reminds me of my guys during my UTA dynasty.
I remember a buddy of mine was coaching his niece in a 4th or 5th grade basketball league. Some friends and he were going somewhere after, so I met him there to heckle him. I didn't have the heart. His team lost 36-2.
It was the longest 2 hours of my life.

i wonder if they play the messed up girls hoops like they do in oklahoma and some other states where 3 players always stand in the frontcourt and the other 2 always stay in the backcourt, and they can't cross over. so wheels-off.

As far as I know, Iowa was the last state to play 3 and 3 women's basketball, and they stopped a few years ago. I've never heard of 3 and 2 (wouldn't that always create an offensive advantage?).

In Oklahoma, they went to 5 on 5 for the girls in the early 90s. Before that, however, they played 3 and 3.

yea, i meant 3 and 3, not 3 and 2. typo. but moot point, if it's done with now.

In middle school, the girls team went 3 straight games without scoring a point, and never scored more than 20 the whole year.
Consequently, the high school girls won the state title that year... odd.

QOTM first post?
Well, my basketball team didn't win a game my freshman or sophomore years. Then I moved, they won 2 games my junior year and didn't win any my senior year.

Consider him nominated. Well actually don't, I am WAY too lazy to actually find out how to nominate something for QOTM.
Back on topic here though, High school girls basketball produces these kinds of things all the time. When a school who takes the sport seriously, plays a school that barely has a coach. I have seen scores of 80-4 and such.

Definitely - it's not even a talent issue usually. Just a little organization goes a long way.
Girls who can barely dribble can become pretty damn good high school basketball players with just a little bit of coaching (since the standard for girls HS players is so low...)

When I lived in Germany I remember seeing a score in the Stars and Stripes from a game from two American schools in Italy that had a score of something like 46-0. There was a note after the boxscore saying that the losing team only had six players, three of them freshmen, two of them sophomores, and one senior.
Apparently the base the losing school was located at was in the process of closing down and enrollment was very low...

Yeah but if I am a ref in that game, I find any way possible to get that team 2 points in the last minute or so. I dont care if I have to call 55 lane violations in a row. Getting shutout in basketball is Humiliation Inc. That's just me though.

Oh, carp, and I forgot something about the game I mentioned before. Apparently three of the players fouled out so the scoreless team finished the game with only three men on the court...

Those were the sorriest 3 men in the history of women's sports.

Yes it is a fall sport here. I kind of figured girls basketball would be everywhere, but I guess not. What do girls play in the fall then? Here they have volleyball in the winter.
Plus, girls BB is full court 5 on 5 here.

While I was in HS our girl's team lost something like 102 straight conference games. When I was on the freshmen team they would frequently schedule us to play back-to-back games and I remember one time watching them get beat something like 64-5. I think five fifth grade boys who'd never played basketball in their lives would have put up a better game.

Ah, soccer is spring here for girls. I guess we're backwards up here.
