View Full Version : ESPN Insider : NFL Simulator

Just signed up for ESPN Insider.. Free 30 day trial so I figured what the heck. I stumbled across a "NFL Simulator" which gives stat's based on whatever matchup you decide.

Has anyone else had any experience with this tool? How accurate is it? I just ran my first "simulation". Giants vs Minnesota. They say that the Vikings will win 38-12. 100% win percentage (I don't know how many times they run it). Overall, a pretty nice feature, although I'm not too sure how accurate it is yet.

Dola... Here is some info for whomever is interested from the FAQ section of the simulator:

"Simulator FAQs

Results are based on averages over 20 simulated games.

Each of the 20 games is simulated play by play with a degree of randomness built in.

Results of each play are based on the real life statistics of the offensive players involved and the defense.

A mixture of 2002 and 2003 statistics are used, weighted approximately 75% for 2003 and 25% for 2002.

Weather can affect the results of the simulation.

Daily Line results and team win percent represent a percentage of the 20 games simulated.

Fantasy Points are based on the ESPN traditional scoring system."

If they are simulating the game 20 times and come up 100% for one team, I don't trust their system at all.

Was gonna comment on that too. How can you play the game 20 times and not even come with one win???

Especially in the NFL. The Giants have looked like crap, but I think if you play them against the Vikings 20 times in Minnesota, they win at least 3 games.

Minnesota is clearly the better team, but the Giants have a lot of talent. Over 20 games some of that talent should show up.

haha, you beat me to this message.

As for the simulator, this was the only game that came out 20-0.
