I've got a team that dropped from DIV that got in the mid 40's in NSI after seemingly being abandoned for a few weeks. The problem is they pull a higher midfield than my team, but the rest of their team sucks... that may get them a cheap win versus me.

The 2 promoted teams are pretty poor. They pulled in the 30's to 40's in the NSI, though one team has potential with the right purchases/training.

It looks like it may be a battle for first between rabbits and my team again. I finished ahead the past 2 seasons. Hopefully I can bypass a qualifier to autopromote, I think my team can be D4 ready by the end of the season.

V.252 replaced 2 demoted bots with 2 human teams, Prior Lake Thunder and The Wild Surge. Unfortunately, they pull in ratings similar to my team. Also, the demoted IV team is *Ecko United, formerly The Muppets, whose owner is very active on the conferences. They daytrade quite a bit, but I'm not sure how good they really are. Regardless, it will be a real dogfight in my division.

guy who won the league lost his qualification match 5-0. 5 and 6 both won their demotion matches. Got one new bot team from DVI and one pretty active owner out of DVI.

Div III demotee punted their qualifier, and will now be the big fish in the small pond that is IV.22. They regularly put up NSI's in the 90 & midfields in the brilliant-magnificent-world class range.

We have three new promotees. One looks strong, and should finsih third or fourth this year. One's of middling strength, and one is a pushover.

End result? I'll be lucky if I get to play another qualifier. I calculated everybody's odd of winning & demoting in my league. I've rated my odds of winning the league at 175-1, promotion at 500-1, and demotion at 7-2. Not a pretty sight.

I went from a ridiculously hard league where 6 teams including me posted at least an 80 Week 14, and another had a 74 PIC'ing to an easy one where only 1 team posted a 55+ last season. I am stating my intention now that I will finally take the FOFC Cup this season (barring TP, Apoc or any of our 1/2/3 teams joining in).

A IV.19 team will need a 80 NSI to win 6th place.

I could finish anywhere from 1st through 5th. The top 4 stayed in, #5 lost to a 30 NSI bot, # 6 is still there, 7 is a mid 40's human player and 8 is a bot.

In essence we traded a defensive turtle for an all around player and gained 2 weak bots too. I don't think I can promote unless I win at least 13 games in my series, and if I'm not in position by the end of week 5 to do that, I'm gonna tank it and intentionally demote since there's no joy in having 4 65+ teams cripple each other's chances season in and season out in D5.

I took everybody's weighted NSI over the past season, and determined everybody's win percentage against every other team using Pythagoras with the NSI's. Once that was determined I wrote a quick program that used the binomial theorem, among other things, to calculate each team's chances of winning 0, 1, or 2 games against each opposition. Once we knew those chances, it was a simple matter to calculate the chance of finishing with 0 wins, 1 win, etc. I ignored the chance of a tie because I couldn't figure out a way to mathematically represent that chance. With that info, we set limits where we can expect the important series lines to fall. For example, I assumed that anything 6 points or less would mean automatic demotion. The program calculated all this, and spit out the percentage chances of demotion, league victory, and promotion.

Very simple, really. :D

Hmmm. I ended up winning my qualifier (I'm fairly certain that my opponent wanted to demote, though), putting me in series IV.62, ranked 15th hardest in division IV by Hatstats. Yup, I'm guessing I'll be back in V come season 22...

III.9 has gotten stronger as a whole, but there is still a wide gap between the top 2-3 teams and the fresh meat from div IV.

Superstars, with a beefier midfield and sleeker attack, hope to climb the series ladder, to our rightful spot at 4th. --the team who stole my spot had two very lucky match results and beat me by 1 point :( this season im gonna make him pay! >:}

I see no reason I will not go undefeated in my series this year. A bot demoted from DIV and 2 came up from DVI. The Orcs are my only competition at all and are rather weak competition at that. They pulled a tie against me last year when I had my three starting defenders out due to injury and my midfield was in crap form. They won't be so lucky this year.

Well, the series champ in V.53 autopromoted and we received a bot team in its place from D IV. We them received two bots from D VI also. Three crappy teams added, two subtracted. Looks like I will be battling the War Donkeys for first place.
