My head would be pounding, except that I'm still way to drunk for that. The fans, players, and of course yours truly, partyed hard well into the night. The cops would have shut us down around 3am or so, but most of them were at the party, and the ladies kept them pretty well entertained. However, when the sun came up, some of the cops wives started making some phone calls, and the festivities finally came to an end.

Aaarrgh. Always when I'm hungover. Can't I have just one day off before the grind starts again.

Sigh. The owner. The flilty rich Sty K. Epol, Jay Rockefeller's love child. It's tempting to just let him keep on knocking, but it'd be a shame to lose my job now. Not after the end of the season we just had. I get up and walk over to the door, stop to put on a robe, and let the old PITA in.

"Glad to hear how pleased you are. I'll be going over the schedule with the coaching staff as soon as it is released. We're also going to need to submit a plan for an arena upgrade. If the cover charges last night are any indication, we'll going to have rioting next season if we don't add some more seats."

"Not if you start this season like the last one. Still, you're right that we need more capacity. Submit the projections and we'll get it done before our first home game this season."

TULSA (AP) -- The NE Oklahoma Sidekicks who finished 5th during their first season in IV.10, started planning for their fourth season in Hattrick on Tuesday. Owner Will Brown, also owner of the CFL's Tulsa Talons, stated Sidekicks team goals for the new season quite simply. He stated that, "We aren't looking to win the series or anything like that this season, we're just looking to stay in Div. IV for another season, and then in our fifth season, we will show our package to the world!"

I was wondering what level of coaches each team in IV.10 has, and here's what I got:

Here's what he posted on the board:



I took everybody's weighted NSI over the past season, and determined everybody's win percentage against every other team using Pythagoras with the NSI's. Once that was determined I wrote a quick program that used the binomial theorem, among other things, to calculate each team's chances of winning 0, 1, or 2 games against each opposition. Once we knew those chances, it was a simple matter to calculate the chance of finishing with 0 wins, 1 win, etc. I ignored the chance of a tie because I couldn't figure out a way to mathematically represent that chance. With that info, we set limits where we can expect the important series lines to fall. For example, I assumed that anything 6 points or less would mean automatic demotion. The program calculated all this, and spit out the percentage chances of demotion, league victory, and promotion.

The goldurnears are currently training playmaking. We have 9 players that start the season in the rotation. Probably 7 of those will hit formidable at some point during the season, some will be sold off, and the proceeds will be used to upgrade the defense and to switch to a high powered scoring training regime. I'm already have erotic dreams about titanic attacks. Anyway, here are the trainees

Knott and Castellanos were both season 20 youth pulls. Braun was picked up at the same time as "the other six", for more than 3 times what "the other six" cost. They were aquired as 18 and 19 yr old passables. I was very poor.

Knott is also my only solid defender, so you can guess that he plays defense on sunday and gets training on wednesday. He's a head specialist, and seems able to score from either position.

Braun and Martinez are both technically inclined. While Martinez is useless as anything but a midfielder, Braun, who also has inadequate winger, has turned into my best wingback and best winger. A consequence is that he isn't getting as much training as I might like. I'm going to be stretching to rectify that during the early stages of the cup run.

Garfield and Rzepka are powerful players. Rodriques is quick. Peaty, Castellanos and Levy are all bereft of a specialty. Levy is one of three candidates for team leader at controversial/passable. I just got rid of my nasty/solid last season, so this is at least an improvement. There are two other candiates, one controverisal, and one sympathetic.

Elijah "The Prophet" Dupree was the goldurn child for the longest time, but in the last several weeks he has been in a serious form slump. With my desire to train 9 other guys each week in playmaking, he has been seeing a lot of B team time at wierd positions just to try and get his form up. His technical specialty has come in handy in the past, as well as his solid set pieces. He's also a candidate for future coach, having recently bumped to passable experience. He is not the only candidate, however, and he's not going to get thrown in just for experience sake if his form doesn't improve.

Villazan was a late season 19 youth pull and gets a start from time to time, as does Whittaker (more often at wingback), as form considerations allow.

Oriol "Double Stuff" Villaver is a two time scoring leader from V.230 in seasons 18 and 19. He is one of my three possible team leaders at controversial/passable. He is also a future coaching prospect at inadequate experience. Bingham and Colvin are both head specialists, and Colvin also has weak experience and is a passable defender. Dickey almost always is a sub or on the B squad.

Other defenders have been listed previously at other positions. Pischedda is the last of my three coaching prospects, currently inadequate. His age makes it something of a priority for me to get him more experience, otherwise he will not be such a good coach. His technical specialty is occasional useful. Tompkins is the last of my three team leader possibilities at sympathetic/passable. He is also a solid set pieces taker, scoring twice in excellent form in my most recent qualification game. Bosco used to play wing for me, but with the training requirements, he has shifted to wingback, and seems just as happy. He is also solid at set pieces. I can't think of anything nice to say about Russo, although he is popular. He averaged below weak in form last season, so he wasn't exactly performing for me.

Faulk was a season 19 youth pull. Sands averages passable/solid form, and usually performs well above his rating. Scott is obviously my coach, but he does manage to hit the pitch from time to time. I don't know if his brilliant experience does any good in the friendlies that he plays. He is passable/passable, and cost $50K US at the end of season 18. He prefers a defensive game, which helps since I don't have that studly a defense.

The goldurnears "escaped" from Dallas with a 5-0 victory. I say escaped, because we are in last place in cup goals for the season.

The goldurnears also welcome a new member into their 3.5 star club, IM/W/WB Alojzije Braun.

The games did not all go without incident. concorde lost their 36 yr old 4 star wingback for "3 weeks". We'll see how long it actually takes. His replacement put up 3 stars in relief, so it doesn't seem to be that big a deal. Meanwhile, FC

Westchester's million dollar striker Ira Clay was sent off after two yellow cards. concorde and Westchester square off on sunday, we'll see if the 4 star wingback or 4.5 star forward are missed.

Things were even worse for the Sidekicks. Two players went down. 4 star midfielder Conny Stensson will miss the season opener at home against the goldurnears, while 3 star midfielder Ola Issjo will be out around 5 weeks. I'm beginning to wonder if I now have a chance at vex's place after those losses.

For 89 minutes, the goldurnears were performing adequately, holding the Sidekicks at home to a 1-0 advantage. Unfortunatly, the Sidekicks managed to punch 3 goals home in the 67th minute, turning a respectable result into something of a laugher. Amazingly, there were no bookings, and the only injury report was to Sidekicks Conny Stensson, who was already carrying an injury. Not only was he able to stay in the game, but he would appear to be available for wednesday's cup match if needed. So much for injured players suffering severe reinjury.

In the "top half" of the division, concorde managed to hang on at home to win against FC Westchester. After the impressive attack ratings that Westchester put up last season, seeing inadequate/solid/inadequate gives one pause.

In the other half of the division, of most interest to me of course, newcomers McGees and Heavenly Angel fought to 1-1 draw. I haven't figured out yet whether this is a good result for me, but my first guess is that it is. McGees were forced to play with ten men for the last half hour, while Angel lost 3 star central defender Matias Abello for a week. Angel managed to put up formidable/supernatural/magnificient along the back line. They're counterattacking 5-3-2 will be interesting if they maintain it throughout the season. They're solid setting was a lot better than the weak I put up attempting to press the Sidekicks.

Actually, Conny had already got rid of the band-aid before the match. I shudder to think how bad the injury would have been had he still been injured. 10 doctors on the staff do wonders.

Despite playing an improvised 2-5-3 formation, the goldurnears managed a much improved performance in round 2 of the cup, beating the Rhode Island Wolves 8-1. Improved on the scoreboard at least. I won't post the NSI, well, ok I will, but don't
laugh at my team. Hey, at least I wasn't at the bottom of the offensive output this week!

Unlike last week, there were very few serious incidents in this week's cup matches. In fact, there were exactly zero injuries and send-offs for the IV.10 crew. Well, I did have a guy get nicked, but he stayed in, and didn't need more than a bandaid.

While I have full confidence that the goldurnears will once again breeze past round 3 of the cup, it has come to my attention that the team you are playing is STILL UNDEFEATED!!! I don't know why I type that in all caps, something just comes all over me, I mean, comes over me. Anyway, I met an interesting guy the other day while traveling through Canada. In the province of North Dakota, he runs a combination football training ground and secret military installation. While sharing some peanut butter and the love of a good dog, he suggested some things which might help in the upcoming match. Be sure to contact him soon to iron out some of the details.

Nothing to complain about this week if you are a goldurnears fan, and who isn't? Angel looked like they might draw concorde, but finally surrendered a goal in the last ten minutes. McGees kept things respectable against Joliet.

The Sidekicks just got boned. I'll bet that 74 isn't an NSI record for the division, but it has to be close, and it might well be a road record. One passable, and nothing else less than excellent, including the midfield. Well done vex, was it a normal?

I'm still deciding on a strategy for my upcoming cup match against STILL UNDEFEATED!!!!. I've already got the lineup set, but I'm having trouble deciding whether or not a PoE PIC will be enough. The thought of being evicted from the cup in the 3rd round is tough to stomach.

The goldurnears will see you in Morgantown for the fifth round of the US Open Cup!! Despite being worried all week, and missing a couple of chances, the formidable midfiled, outstanding central defence, and solid central attack were just enough to punch a couple of holes in the oppositions onion bag.

Not all of IV.10 was so lucky. Both FC Westchester and concorde were shutout and evicted from the cup in the fourth round. Five winning teams will soldier on to round 5.

The other unclaimed walkover belongs to Heavenly Angel, coupled with this week's upset of FC Westchester, means that McGees is currently the team in the relegation zone. This week's league results were a terrible disappointment. The win by Heavenly Angel means we can not be reckless with our team spirit....meaning our cup run is about to come to a rather abrupt halt. Well, maybe it was going to anyhow, sigh, but we're not even going to normal now, it's PIC all the way baby.

After intense consultations with GM Terpkristin, I decided to change my cup orders and go with a more aggresive and totally reckless plan to try and pull off another cupset. Of course, HT was dead, and I wasn't able to do so. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise.

In any event, I think I managed the first ever disastrous/disastrous/disastrous attack ratings in a non-walkover :) I played a 5-5-0 with defensive specialist midfielders playing defensive and both wingers toward middle. I don't think the magnificient central defence was adequate compensation for the lack of attack. Hee haw.

HT is back up now, and I'm busily spamming the upper divisions across the world looking for someone to come over for a friendly.

There is some good news, the goldurnears now have over $1.2M in the bank. Upper management at the club have been and still our contemplating what to do with this money. Basically, we are now starting to rethink our plans to switch to forwards training next season. Having scanned the midfield levels put up by teams in division III, we believe that our players need at least another season of seasoning before we switch. We will be selling 3 formidable midfielders when they become formidable, all of whom are 22 years old, and creeping toward formidable while playing on the wings. Two of them should be reading in a couple weeks, the last will take probably a month and a half. The resulting funds will be used to purchase younger stock, but still formidable I imagine. So, while we have alot of money in the bank, we are going to be losing money (I would imagine) on the turnover, so we won't be out looking for any further upgrades for the time being. With there being no danger (knock wood) of auto relegation this season, there would seem to be no hurry.

Vexroid's Sidekicks are the only team to not yet have their walkover. With back to back walkovers coming up, they now have to be favorites to win the series. Holy cow. Meanwhile, those lovable goldurnears have a five point cushion plus goal difference over the qualification zone. With eight weeks to go, it isn't time to get cocky just yet, but maybe a little funny.

The real question now is whether or not McGees will survive to the qualification round this season. Heavenly Angel should be the team to get auto relegated, but if the season were to end today, two months early, they would survive to play a qualifier while McGees would go down. We hope that changes.

With team spirit more important than ever, the goldurnears can look forward to remaining in the top half of the table...and perhaps even play a role in determining the series champ....

I almost feel bad for concorde, but I'm enjoying this too much. A second 1 goal win in as many weeks against concorde came after falling behind quickly 2-0. Ed Dickey put the first goal up for goldurnears before halftime, and Walter Bingham came through big time in the second half with two goals, including the game winner in the 87th minute. These two big wins have the goldurnears seeing visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads. We have McGees at home next week, where we hope to keep our winning streak intact.

Meanwhile, Vexroid returned from his two week vacation today, and realized he actually had a real opponent for the following week. :)

The Sidekicks seem to be a team of destiny or some such damn thing, and now have quite the little lead now in IV.10. If the season were to end today, they would be dragged, perhaps kicking and screaming, into division III via autopromotion. Joliet's loss in a shootout to Westchester ever so slightly opens the door for the goldurnears as well. Of course, we want nothing to do with D3 next season, how lucky for us that Joliet and the Sidekicks are still on the schedule.

Oh, and for the record, the goldurnears are officially safe from auto relegation, and have a magic number of 1 to keep them from even having to play a qualifier. Yee Haw.

Next week, the second derby between Joliet and the goldurnears...I hope they don't beat me up too bad.

Late into the second transfer attempt, Tobiasz finally found a bid at $750,000, and we bid him adieu as we collected $675,000 into the coffers. Plans to replace Tobiasz are already underway. Tobiasz was a 22 yo Formidable playmaker with excellent stamina and not much in the way of secondaries. He never quite made it to the four star plateau, but his consistently high form over the past two seasons, passable+ and solid, saw him in the starting line up nearly every week.

Continuing their recent trend of trying to buy every midfielder in hatttrick, the goldurnears purchased Portugeese prospect Lucio Secretario for the obscene sum of 1.212 million dollars. Lucio is an 18yo formidable playmaker with inadequate passing. He is something of a prospect because of his very low, some might say wretched, stamina. However, he will fit in well in our training program, and will no doubt someday be worth a pretty penny when he hits, say, passable stamina, magnificient playmaking, and solid passing. What? A guy can dream can't he?

In other news, the warden of Joliet Prison has assured the goldurnears that no attempts would be made to incarcerate visiting fans at this weekends derby. Apparently, the threat of being permanently excluded from the gold club did the trick.

Take that you hoodlums!! After bypassing brilliant on the way to the goldurnears first ever magnificent midfield, and managing to convert 3 of what felt like 20 chances, the Sidekicks and goldurnears stand 1 and 2 in USA IV.10. It has been widely reported in the papers that most of the top goldurnears players will not be around for next weeks home finale against division champs Oklahoma. While some have been quoted as say they don't want to ruin their autopromotion chances, sources deep within the organization are saying that they are just plain scared. Whatever. We hope to join them in D.III in 2 or 3 or 10 seasons. With Joliet getting a walkover next week, the only drama left in the division is for the last qualification spot. McGees have had an abysmal season, but could still salvage their position in the series with a 4 goal win over Angel in the finale. If not, the goldurnears will be the only team left in IV.10 next season, unless someone from division V comes up, or one of the III relegees comes down.

It's the internet equivalent of doing a show out of your basement. But if you promote, I'm guessing it won't nearly be the same since, well, you won't have the same thing to chat about. Replacing McGees is nkp765. They averaged 63.5 NSI last season, so they are the early relegation favorites. Not as good as epsilon was this season, but the rest of the news is bad, so I have to hang my hat on something.

Replacing Epsilon Fighters is Cowboys. Hey, this isn't so bad, I guess staying up until 7am messes with your short term memory. These guys averaged a 66.6 NSI, which is actually down almost two points from the previous season. I'm not sure what that means, but I won't argue if the trend continues.

Playing Heavenly Angel in the 6th place qualification match are the Flailing Fanatics, from the same division as NAIWF. What an addition they would have made to IV.10. FF averaged an NSI of 76.2 last season, which means next week I will be routing hard for Heavenly Angel, who only managed 56.3. I'm not sure home field is enough for HA to hang on to division IV. The only good news is that the Fanatics put up a 92! NSI in their last match, which presumably means a MOTS. A win would have given them autopromotion, so that's probably what they did. I've got my fingers crossed.

In the 5th place match, concorde should have no problem. They play Evil Dead, who could only manage to average a 55.4 NSI last season. concorde isn't a powerhouse, but they ought to be able to handle that.

So, despite the goldurnears unexpected successes last season, my expectations are a 6th place finish in season 22. That assumes that I make no major upgrades, which is a reasonable assumption considering the current state of my plans. If Angel survives their qualifer, I would expect 5th, and be hopeful of 4th.

End of Season Rebuilding for the Sidekicks




Well, in the last 2 weeks (and one day) the NE Oklahoma Sidekicks have made more moves in this time period than in team history.


Our move was selling the first trainee in Sidekick history, Göran Andersson (http://195.149.159.158/Common/playerDetails.asp?playerID=7645431) of Sweden. Not only was he our first trainee, but one of our first players we paid WAY too much for. When purchased, Göran (http://195.149.159.158/Common/playerDetails.asp?playerID=7645431) was a 19 yo solid playmaker. Aquired for $230,000, it might seem as if we spent too much. But when you get a return over $3 million, it seems justified. Göran (http://195.149.159.158/Common/playerDetails.asp?playerID=7645431) was sold to Woofer in his homeland of Sweden for $3.2 million on 2/9/2004.

Purchased for $1,914,000, Irhult is an immediate starter who will be sold at the end of season or around there once he hits magnificent for an easy $1.3 million or so profit. He gets 4 stars defensively.

We will also be selling Conny Stensson once he hits world class at the beginning of next season according to me estimates. That will bank us around $4.5 million, which is especially nice when you consider that we purchased Conny for $90,000.

We will be selling formidable PM James Willoughby next week after the stamina training in an attempt to raise his sale value.

We are currently in the process of attaining an outstanding Keeper, a 17 (soon to be 18) yr old formidable PM, and after the Willoughby sale we will be purchasing an 18(soon to be 19) yr old formidable PM to complete the rotation. We will be selling 2 players a year, from now on.

This is all possible thanks to us parting ways with recently aquired world clas Keeper David Joseffson who has a current bid of $6.8 million.
