I'm looking to play both TCY and FOF4/2K4 (when it comes out) between two different computers (a desktop and laptop). Which files do i have to transfer over each time, so i can keep playing one saved game with both computers? I tried once before, but I kept getting an "Unable to Create Game" error when i would go to load it, or something along those lines. Hopefully someone can help me, thanks.

from the FOF faq (same thing for TCY):

---------------
How do I transfer a saved game from one computer to another?

You need to take all the files from the "universe" directory of one installation, and place them in the "universe" directory of the second installation.

This will overwrite all the saved games from the second installation, so you should back these up first.

Do not replace the universe directory itself. This will force you to reinstall the game.

If you're saving box scores and game logs, you do not need to transfer these files (*.flg and *.fbx).
--------------------

The second to last paragraph is important - don't replace the directory.

edit: I use a little key drive to transfer files between my notebook and desktop. What I do is copy the contents of the universe directory into a temp directory on the key drive, they I copy the contents of the temp directory on the key drive into the universe directory on the other computer. I copy the .flg and .fbx too so everything is the same and I'm not missing any box scores or anything.

Thanks for the help, i knew i read it somewhere before, but i thought it was on this board and didn't even think to check there. I think i'm gonna try a cd-rw, and i'm assuming you meant just a new folder when you said temp directory, correct? Hopefully this will work, thanks again

exactly, a new folder - I name the temp directories/folders TCY universe and FOF universe so I don't get them mixed up.

Well, I just got around to trying this today, and its not working at all. I copied my files from my desktop universe to a created "TCY" folder, and then copied that onto a cd-r. Then, i took that and put it on the notebook, then copied the files into that universe. However, when I go to start the game on the notebook, i'm getting an "Unable to create data files. Please restart system and/or reinstall game." I've restarted and reinstalled twice, along with cleaning out the universe folder that is left when the game is reinstalled. Does anyone here have an idea of what I did wrong here? The only thing i can think of is that one is ran on Windows XP (desktop) and the other is Windows 98 (notebook).

You have to right click on the folder after you transfer it from a cd-r, go to properties, and uncheck read only. When you put files onto a cd-r, they become read only.

I transfer my whole tcy or fof4 folder from my pc to my notebook, seems to work just fine.
