I am in the market for a PDA, actually the company I work for is in the market for a PDA for me. My job, in a nutshell, is to keep this company's 24x7 application running 24x7. There have been times when I have been out of the office, when something went awry. This has typically meant I had to get to a computer with internet access, download and install an ssh capable telnet program before I can actually address the problem.

There are a handful of applications that run on PDAs that would allow me to connect in remotely and administer our system. My boss wants me to find the right one.

Well in my searches, I found the Zaurus. It is a PDA that runs linux. It seems to have everything I'd want, built in ssh, wireless connectivity, the works. Plus it is pretty damn geeky.

My question is, has anyone ever used or had any exposure at all to the Zaurus.

In case you are interested in this, here is a link to a number of Linux PDAs (http://www.linuxdevices.com/articles/AT8728350077.html)

Com'on don't we have any geeks here? A pda where you can develop and run perl programs, how about python? You can ftp to and from your device. Not to mention all of the opensource stuff out there.

I mean it seems like have a real computer, running a real OS, right in your pocket.

I'm with you- where are the geeks? I know I'm a geek, but I'm more proficient in my computer geekiness and less proficient in my gadget geekiness. Plus, I've been looking for a PDA for the past year or so but haven't seen anything that makes me want to put down a pretty decent chunk of change.
