I recently purchased a nvidia 32MB TNT2 M64 video card off of ebay for pretty cheap. It was a small upgrade over the asus/nvidia 16MB TNT model that I have been running.
Anyway, I installed the card and the drivers and got it up and running, but I am getting shadows across the screen where words and graphics are.
My question is...Is there a setting that I am missing that I can clean this up with, or is it simply the video card. I have not had this problem with other cards I have used.
System
PIII 866
384mg ram
Win 98 FE
asus MB
Thanks!

Have you tried updating the drivers to the newest edition?

They are the drivers that I just downloaded from nvidia before I installed the card. So they should be the most recent.

Sounds like a driver issue to me, can you uninstall those drivers and then run windows update to see what driver it pulls up?

I am not certain it is the drivers. I uninstalled the drivers and am in the process of reinstalling some things. The generic default drivers however still produce the same thing. Light gray shadows that go horizontally accross the screen where there is typing, graphics, lines etc.

Try adjusting color depth on the desktop, some video cards don't support certain settings.

Go to the card manufacturers site and see if there is a FAQ or a forum. I would think someone else has had that problem as well.

My first thought is someone might have sold you a worn-out card. Second thought is do what FBPro said, change the color and resolution of your screen to see if it goes away.

I am thinking there must be flaws in this card, that is what I have as well, a while back I could have sworn I read a review on my machine and the graphics card was a negative spec on the computer (I have been trying to find the review but have not had luck yet). I am looking to get a new card when I can. I have had this shadow problem as well..not on everything but just somethings...weird...also the review I think I recall it saying about the card that the numerous troubles Nvidia had with the TNT2 cards is why they discontinued making them and just concentrated on the GeForce cards...ack if only I could find the article.
Depends what you plan on using it for, I would say 95% or better of the programs I have used work fine with it, but just frustrating when in the middle of a game or whatever get the flaws coming out.
I still like it better than my old machine and that ATI card I had in there...yuck, that was bad stuff

Thanks jander for the insight.
I ended up talking to the seller and they have already refunded my moolah. I will sending the card back this week. On to look for a *new*, new card for my machine.
Thanks to all for the advice, and help.

Glad to hear you are getting your money back. I've heard some horrid stories about ebay and getting refunds.
Anyhow, look in your Sunday paper for deals on a new card.

I saw the other day where you could get a GeForce FX 5900 for $130, but I think that sale stopped (its $200 right now).
