I'd say something more, but it'd seem excessive making fun of you being you live in a state that is even deader than Wisconsin.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why must they do this to me? First they totally fuck up the student section seating, and now we're going to have to have that bastard here for even longer. The only hope is that Mason's knowledge that the fans here hate him will influence him to go.
EDIT: And shouldn't there be some 'No extension until you beat Purdue rule?'

Have you ever been to Iowa City? I can't speak for the rest of Iowa, but trust me, Iowa City is not dead

Friend of mine was at the game, reported back that Iowa was a giant craphole.

McKerney, perhaps you forget how horrible the Gophers were prior to Mason being here.

I remember that the first year Mason went to a bowl it was with player Wacker had brought to Minnesota. He came into a program on the upswing.
Right now the program needs a coach who has a good relationship with the fans. We're trying to get a new stadium built and to get more people to come to the game. Mason is not helping. It gets even worse with him comments in recent weeks, pretty much saying that if they don't go to a good enough bowl, the fans are to blame.
Can you really blame them for not getting excited? The coach is the figurehead of the program, and Mason is not one that they can rally around. How can they get excited about a coach who doesn't even want to be here? While having the Gophers coaching job he publicly stated that he wished he'd taken the job at Georgia (''Not a day goes by that I don't think about that Georgia job and the bad decision I made."), and then was openly campaigning for the Ohio State job (On not getting the Ohio State job, ''Disappointed, Andy! I'm devastated.''). He gets upset with fans when they don't get excited enough over wins in non-conference games. Can't really blame them though, can you? How excited can you really get when your Big Ten program is able to defeat the likes of Louisiana Laffayette or Tulsa. "Hey, he's never been able to beat Purdue, but they put up 50 on Troy State!"
And back to him implying that the finger should be pointed at the fans instead of the coaches or team if they don't get to a good enough bowl. The fans didn't give up 31 points in the 4th quarter. They didn't fumble at the goalline. The fans in Minnesota will travel if you give them something to go to. And unless you consider the Sun Bowl to be a great event, Mason hasn't given them anything to go to. Hell, even Northwestern has a conference championship more recently than we do. But hey, big party in Nashville for another Music City Bowl, eh? It's no wonder fans didn't like him in Kansas either. (SterlingIce - "As for asking who someone else cheers for: it's just petty- defend your team and don't make it personal. I'm pretty sure KU isn't dirty in football- I should hope we would be better if we were (still, I'd rather have Terry Allen's squeaky clean program, winning 3 games a year than a dirty program that wins- good riddance Glen Mason)").
This program can go in a few different directions from the point they're at now. It seems clear to me that getting rid of Mason is the best thing they can do to help the team improve. Glen Mason doesn't want to be here and most of the fans don't either. I think it's a fair deal.

Wackers kids were decent kids, but he couldn't coach. Mason is much better coaching and recruiting than Wacker was. The thing I like most is his honesty, where would you rather be, OSU, Georgia or Minnesota. Minnesota, as much as we love it, isn't loved by many people. The stadium will barely sell out with the exception of Michigan, OSU, Iowa and Wisconsin and that is because those teams travel well.
This program was a 3 win program prior to Mason and is not a 7-9 win program. Within a few years, it could be a 8-10+. He is getting kids to come to Minnesota that never would have before. Most instate prospects are staying. I know that Pitt reciever left, but with Wacker, everyone of any value left.
If I was Mason I would be pissed too. You have taken one of the worst programs in the Big Ten and made them respectable and the fans want to run you out of town. I just hope he stays, because 3 wins a year suck and no decent coach is going to come to this underfunded, undersupported program.

Hey now. Of course, most El Pasoans aren't exactly excited to go to a game featuring the Big Tens #5 team...

Lucky you. You didn't end up pre-paying for Motor City Bowl tickets, at which one will most likely have the 'pleasure' of watching a 6-6 Northwestern. Yay me.
