I wrote a utility to generate fictional league files in csv format. You can get it here:
http://66.206.22.72/~reign78/FictionalFOF.zip
Basically, you just install and run the utility, tell it what year and salary cap you are going to use, and then export the csv file. Then you would use the FOF player generator to convert it to the .fdt format. Make sure you enter the same values for starting year and salary cap into both utilities. The players are assigned salaries so you can use any of the starting options when you start a new game. Let me know if you have any thoughts about the output. Everything is based on the league composition in the real players file that was posted so hopefully the overall talent levels will be about right.

I've been waiting for this. I like to use all fictional players fronm the start.
Thanks.
Oh, and be sure to drop a line if you ever get that 98/ME problem worked out for FBCB. I am waiting on that, too.

Overall, the utility looks GREAT. Couldn't be simpler-to-use. The one problem I see is that a large number (nearly all) of the players are signed to 7-year contracts that decrease in value in the late years. For example, the best QB in the league, Vito Anderson of New Orlenas, has a $3.99M salary this year, but $750K for each of the next 6 years. I don't know if that's a problem with Jim's generator, or HR's, but it is a problem.
For those of us who would use the fictional universe AND sim 20 seasons to have a league history, I don't foresee that it is any real issue at all, but for those who want to start immediately wiht the fictional universe, it is a problem.

HR's having some problems with his hosting company. The info was posted here (http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16772) .

HR- Just a quick question. So I can use this program to auto-generate ficticious leagues and avoid the dreaded salary cap issues someone brought up earlier? (Something like the first year's salary is correct, but every player is signed to a seven year deal and the last six years of the contract are always the same amount) Thanks for making this utility. It sounds like just the sort of thing I've been looking for since I don't like to play with real players.

HR is amazing. He writes his own games and improves others. Wow!

I'll take a look at it. That shouldn't happen by design but I won't know if it is the utility or the importer until I can compare the salaries listed in the file itself to the ones that show up in the game.

Ok, I found the problem. There was a mistake in the code I added to make sure the teams aren't all way over the cap when you first start. It is fixed now and I uploaded the new version of the file.

Yeah, its worked well for me too.
I created a minor league where the salary cap was about $10 million and we played (mostly) in mid-major cities and it was weird, because ticket prices were almost where teams were giving them away. Most of the teams couldn't turn a profit, either.
Anyway, good product. Great work!

All the mod guys are really doing some great work!
Dark Cloud, that is a very good signature. I like it a great deal, and I don't believe I have ever heard it before. And here I thought I knew everything.

Would it be possible for someone to send the util to me? The link doesn't seem to be working at this time. I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

So nice how we scratch each others' backs around here.
Edit: I'm not good at being sarcastic.
Be a little patient, sov.
