View Full Version : Some draft talk

I know QS started a thread on this earlier, so I hope I'm not stepping on some toes. :)

Some of my observations MAY impact how you play the game. I don't think it'll be in any meaningfull way, but ithere are a few ways you could "cheat" if you so desired.

Here are some quick observations:

1) The two biggest sleepers I have ever found in the draft had middle range to low volitility scores. A DT drafted in the 6th round is now in his 5th year and was voted defensive player of the year last year. He scored a 22 on the V scale. Another FA running back I picked up in the FA period after the draft has broke out into an above average player (not a star). His V score was 1.

2) If you write down how your scout views the player's current and future ratings in the draft screen and then look at the value directly after the draft, you'll see a slight change on occasion. I've found that if this change is lower than what was in the draft screen, it will likely take another drop after you run your training camp. I had one first round pick who had his future potential go from 65 to 58 after the draft. It dove to 50 after training camp was ran.

I've went through about 15 detailed drafts now, and I have never seen a player who dropped right after the draft improve after training camp.

This observation is the reason for the warning up above. If you were tight on cap space, this could easily impact how many years you sign your high pick to.

I've also noticed that whenever I'm lucky enough to get one of the top selections, instead of a dream QB or DE being the best player available, it will be a G or C from Rice. I'm sure that's just me though. :)

Sounds exactly like it works in FOF4.
