Fantasy Football (rules) question.

In my league, my opponent has Koren Robinson. He fell on a ball in the end zone and was credited with a TD (6 points). That meant the game. Now I thought it was "receiving touchdowns" that got them six. Anybody have this problem? How would your league handle this?

I'd think he'd be either credited with a rushing TD or a TD in the Misc./Defensive category.

A player gets credit for points beyond the usual definition of their position. Wouldn't you give a WR credit for the points of a FG if he for some reason kicked one? And likewise, shouldn't kickers also get points if they complete a pass, or run for a TD on a fake kick. In my leagues this would an offensive touchdown. Just about the only way a player can score a touchdown that wouldn't be counted for him, is if he scores it while playing on the opposite side of the ball from which he was started. In other words, Deion(sp?) Sanders wouldn't get credit for touchdowns scored as a receiver in games where he was started as a defensive player, unless he was also explicitly started as a receiver. Special teams players are an exception to this rule. Therefore, Dante Hall scores points for his kick returns when he is started as a receiver.

If I were your commissioner, I would second Mtaystl03's opinion, that your bickering over this touchdown is cheap. That is, I guess, if I correctly interpreted Mtay's sentiment.

I think in my league, which includes defensive players, it would count as a 'Return TD' -- this group includes special teams, fumbles, and interceptions.

In many leagues, players can only get credit for rushing, receiving or passing TDs. Fumble recoveries, unfortunately, don't count. In other leagues, they might.

Usually this is a big problem, because most leagues don't specifically mention this situation in the rules. So you wind up with both sides arguing their case, and the commisioner has to make a decision (leading to bad feelings, accusations, and usually someone pulling a suck routine and quitting the league).

Luckily, that shouldn't happen here. The exact same thing has already happened this season, a few weeks ago with Randy McMichael. Most people may not have noticed it unless it affected your game, but it happened and McMichael will be on a roster in most leagues.

So all you need to do is check to see how it was scored in your league a few weeks ago. Did McMichael get credit for a TD then? Instant precedent, either way. End of argument.

Yahoo also scored it as a "return" touchdown for Koren Robinson, which is a scoring category for standard Yahoo leagues.

Hehe Apparently that is what I get for posting when too tired. I completely misread Mtays sentiment, apparently compounded caused by the fact that I missed that he started the thread to begin with.

I still believe it should count as a touchdown, I wasn't that tired last night.
