View Full Version : TCY 1.2a - new bug?

I just concluded my first season playing in a new career under patch 1.2a... and have a very weird result. It seems that all the players from my initial roster who were listed as graduating fifth-year seniors (asterisked, but showing up as "no years remaining" at the end of the 2003 season) are still on my roster, and are listed as now having "1 year remaining."
Ring a bell with anyone?

I seem to have a few fifth-year seniors with 2 years of eligibility left. Not what you're seeing, but odd, I think, unless Jim added a medical redshirt I didn't hear about.
By the way, any way we can get a medical redshirt for players added?

Anyone still playing TCY thru the fog of FOF5 noticing this?
In the Indiana TCY VC, I just applied the 1.2a patch right at season end (before clicking on end season). Got to check that (there are 10-15 graduating seniors)

Damn, haven't yet played with 1.2a.
I'm very interested in knowing some more about that issue.

Follow-up: it looks like my initial descriptio was half right only. I started out with an initial set of about 15 players who all showed as having no years remaining. About half of them went on to "graduate, while the other half returned as (I guess) fifth-year seniors. I've gone back to the 2003 saved game, and can't tell any differences among those two sets of players from that time.
It maybe just a function of the first year -- I'm nearing the end of 2004, adn will update again after I see what happens there.

Quik:
Just a thought, but I wonder if this is related to the TCY import bug.

I haven't noticed this yet, but I will check as well in my second year.

One more reason justifying my choice to stay away from 1.2a...
I just have a bad feeling about it...

Could someone with some time on their hands send 1.2 to me NOT 1.2a? I can host it if anyone else would like it. Thanks.

Bah, forgot to mention I'm still using 1.2.
I'm only a couple of years out, so maybe it has something to do with the initial class like Quik said. I'll take a look again when I get home.

My player "graduation" worked just fine after my second season, BTW.

Ok, looking through this file again, I'm not sure if this is wrong or not.
For Seniors, I have some who show 0, 1, and 2 years remaining.
For Juniors, I have some who show 1, 2, and 3 years remaining.
Sophmores show 2, 3, and 4 years remaining.
Freshmen show 3 and 4 years remaining.
I am at the end of year 2008.
I'm playing as a Sol 8 team in Kansas (Olathe)
Seems the seniors, juniors, and sophomores have their years remaining off. Only seniors and juniors that have 2 years remaining have a regular redshirt and a medical redshirt (I think that's possible). Don't know how you get a sophomore with 2 years left.
I think this is totally different than what QuikSand saw, but I really didn't think about it being wrong until I saw this post. Is anyone else seeing this with 1.2, or is it just me?

This is confusing, obviously, but not a bug.
Players have 5 years to play 4 seasons. They may take their one red-shirt year at any time. It's automatically assigned to them once they play a full season without appearing in a game.
You may assign a player red-shirt status at any time, but all that does is tell the AI not to put him in a game.
So seniors can show up in three different ways - As having taken a red-shirt, and with 2 seasons remaining, as having taken one and with one season remaining and as having not taken one and with one season remaining.
Once a player appears in a game, that count is reduced by one, which explains why, in mid-season, you might see several different scenarios here.
I'm not sure what was happening with QuikSand's game. I've tried to duplicate it, and haven't seen anything like it. It sounds like the game was displaying the years remaining incorrectly, but I've run a couple of careers looking specifically for that, and the display is always correct.
At any rate, I didn't touch anything even remotely related to that code for 1.2, 1.2a or probably even for 1.1.
1.2a is a very, very tiny update over 1.2. I wouldn't even think of worrying about it. I am going to fix the problem with starting youngsters with high potential a little too liberally. That should be ready soon. It's not working the way I said it should and it's an easy fix. I'm not going to bother with a new version number, because I'm just changing one line of code.
Now, with changing from 1.1 (or earlier) to 1.2 (or 1.2a), you will find that with 1.1 careers, what will happen is that teams will play a conference schedule based on 2003, but they'll still be displayed (and will compete for bowls) in their old conference. That's annoying, especially if you're playing in an affected conference, but not fatal to a career. That's really the only reason not to upgrade - to continue a career you're fond of, and don't want to see strange conference schedules.
