Last night I broke out FOF4 (waiting until all the patches come through to buy 2004) and faced the following:

I took my 5-8 Cowboys to the Meadowlands to face the 10-2-1 Giants. We were 11 point underdogs, but with 2 minutes to go in the fourth, we found ourselves down only 17-14 with 1 timeout remaining and the ball at our own 25. I call a few out patterns to get us to the New York 32 yard line with about 1 minute remaining. Then I call a slant pattern, since I still had a timeout. We completed a nice ball to my tight end to get down to the Giants 20 for another 1st down.

Here's my dilemma. I'm back at the playcalling screen, the clock reads 25 ticks left. I debate whether or not to use my last timeout, but I decide to save it to use after one more play, a running play up the middle. So I want to spike the ball - how long could it possibly take to run up field 13 yards and spike the ball anyway, right? WRONG! To my chagrin, after I call the 'spike ball' play, I see the clock at triple 0's, and the text reads, 'End of 4th Qtr.' Ouch.

So my question is: how long, on average, does it take in this game to spike the ball? Obviously more than 25 seconds, I know this now.

edited for typo

One of the reasons I don't call my own plays in FOF is because I don't feel I have enough control over the clock.

I find when trying to run out the clock, when running the ball sometime only 20 secs will expire from the time of the last play and the time of the next play... I wonder why they snap so early!,

Maybe his timing is just really terrible...
