I have been using Opera but am going to give Mozilla a try since Opera doesn't want to let me use my scroll function on the mousepad of my new notebook. I have already d/l Firebird and wanted to know if normal Mozilla was better? And if i keep Firebird what add-ons should I install that are useful?

If you just need browsing capabilities, stick with Firebird.

I use the Google Toolbar extension, ie page view extension, and the two broser tab pref extensions. All musts, imo...

I use mozilla instead of firebird because I like the email application that's bundled with Mozilla.

Edit - I use the google bar extension and the home button extension.

I've switched to using Firebird and Thunderbird for browsing/email. Very happy with it.

Mozilla Firebird is great! I use these extensions:

Web Developer
Adblock
Popup ALT Attribute
Tabbrowser Extensions
Nuke Image
Flash Click To View
IE View

If you really want to go all out, there are also a few customizations that can (supposedly) speed up your browsing:

I use Firebird and love it. Drake posted a thread a while back you should search for. He explained step-by-step how you can strip out nearly all inline ads from displaying (or even downloading I think). When I made that change it sped up my browsing tremendously for sites like ESPN (and it worked a lot better than the more user friendly adblock extension IMO). Other extensions I really like are the "flash click to view" and some of tab related extensions.

I use Firebird on my Linux box and Mozilla on Windows. If Firebird was out when I installed on Windows, I'd have it on Windows too. Just too lazy to uninstall Mozilla and install Firebird.
