A star in the making

Week 1:

Its not easy being called the top player in the country. You hear about this thing happening to kids from Texas, but not those kids who live in Virginia. Well, here I am. Of course, around here the hype hasn't hit yet. I mean, when everyone's dad is a Senator, its kind of hard to get noticed here. Why we live here, I'll never know. My parents don't really fit the mold of Woodbridge people. He doesn't really do anything important, he works for the city. Its noble work, but he's always said he wanted for me to do more, something like most of the people who live here. Whatever, I just play football. Its either that or get into trouble with the local kids, but that gets kind of boring to having to show up at all the parties. I just want to go to go to school. I guess football is the best way to do it. Sure I could probably get into UVA without it, but it sure does help. I guess what I really want is to play for the Redskins some day, to line up behind those hogs, play some fun and gun. Thats what its all about anyway.


This is the storyof Bill Heredia, the top rated QB and player in the country by Rivals.com. He's 6'1, 188 with a cannon for an arm and the ability to throw on the run. He's a young 17 who just got his first girlfriend. He comes from a very good athletic tradition at Woodbridge High, but they don't put a lot of thought into academics, there's private schools for that. Bill reflects this with his 2.82 gpa and 973 on the SAT's. Where he'll end up is anyone's guess.

Week 2:

Another week, another Woodbridge High win, but they had to work for this one. Heredia had another steady game, but the team could only muster 24 points to squeak by with a 10 point win. He went 21-29 for 365, 3 TD's and his first pick of the year. He ran 9 times for only 22 yards. Definitely not his best of the year, but what can you expect with the pressures on this kid. There's rumors swirling that his new girlfriend was just using him to latch on his fame. Some are saying he cheated on his SAT's. These are things a 17 year old shouldn't have to go through. You can't imagine what its like to be a kid without a friend in the world. Couple that with no offers coming in, and people are starting to doubt if he's the real thing. all Heredia can do is play his game.

Week 3:

Heredia had a good week all around. He leads Woodbridge to a 56-10 win on the road, and he gets feelers from Georgia and Nebraska. In the win, Heredia went 20-31 for 389, 4 TD's and a pick. He ran a bit more, running 19 times for 96 yards and 2 TD's. Needless to say, he's once again everyone's favorite son in Woodbridge, the school is holding a pep rally for him this Tuesday. The best news is that he already has a scholarship offer from Georgia, while Nebraska made a phone call. He's says he currently looking over the Georgia offer to see if thats what he really wants.

Week 4:

Alright! Now things are starting to pick up for me. I guess the scouts were impressed with my 500 yard, 6 TD performance against our arch rivals. I really couldn't have done it without my guys on the O-line though. They were the ones who opened the holes so I could get my 130 and 3 TD's on the ground. Especially you Craig (editors note: Craig is the 137th best player and #8 O-lineman in the country). And my boy Harvey (editors note: Harvey is the #7 WR in VA). for grabbing those 3 TD's. If he isn't playing somewhere next year, There's something wrong. And to the D, especially Richard Glover (note: #13 D-end in the country), thank you guys for forcing those 4 turnovers so I could get a shot.

I'm just glad my boy's could help me out so much, now it looks like everyone is interested in me. I now have offers from Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio State and Va Tech. Man, its going to be a tough choice. I really don't like how OSU, Georgia, Iowa and Va. Tech has a very deep and young QB corps. It looks like I may be able to start right away at Nebraska, but I may be able to study for a year at Florida. But I'd like to stay close to home and play for a winner. Well, I still have a few more weeks before I gotta decide.

week 5:

Billy took his first recruiting visit of the year, taking a trip over to Ohio State. It was about a 5 hour drive, but I think he enjoyed the festive, drunken atmosphere. His impending visit did not cause him to overlook his last game. Billy went 18-27 while throwing for 349 and 2 TD's. He also ran 13 times for 133 yards. He moved the ball easily, but just couldn't get it into the end zone. Luckily the rest of the running game went smoothly, so the game wasn't even in doubt. Along the way, Tennessee entered the picture.
