Wondering if you guys would buy a refurbished monitors? I found a site that is selling a 20 in. Sony and a 19 in. Hitachi for 80 and 90 dollars each. Is it worth it to buy a refurbished monitor, or am I better off sticking to the 17 in. I have?

I'd do it, but I'm cheap.

I have bought refurbished monitors in the past and have had absolutely no problem with them what so ever. It would be a good idea though to have backup cash in the event that it blows out sooner than you expect. That way you won't be so disappointed if it happens.

Right now you can pick up brand new 17" monitors for $80 so I would say that the above costs for a 19 and 20" are relatively good.

Yeah, I got my 17 in. monitor last year, but I', giving my old comp to my sister, but it doesn't have a moniter. So I'm hoping I can convince my parents to get me a new monitor for Christmas and she can just have this one.

Being an electronics technician, I see no reason why a refurbished monitor isnt a good buy. Especially with the price for a new 20" monitor.

Is it refurbished (as in back to the manufacturer where it was inspected before being resold), merchandise that was returned (but not sent back to the manufacturer - newegg is a place that does that i think) or coming off a lease? I love buying refurbished stuff as long as its option #1. Supposedly it has a lower failure rate than brand new stuff because of the extra inspection it has to pass to be resold.

Link us up. I'm curious about a pretty cheap large monitor.

Can't say if its a reputable site or not, nor does it list shipping (I'm thinking 40-50 or so), but even so, some of those monitors are nicely priced.

When your talking about getting monitors over the net, you're almost better off going down to your local best buy or retailer like that. Unless the site has a cheap shipping rate (and they don't raise the cost of the product to make up for this), its going to cost you about 30-50 bucks to ship a monitor, depending on the size and distance it has to go. Since you're only talking about an $80 product anyway, I think you'd be able to get a newer monitor for maybe a little more at the local place, and you'd feel better in knowing that it was new.
