my question is for anyone who uses a 3-5-2 regularly :) oh wait, thats 99% of you :)
do most people pull a center back or wing back up to be the extra inner midfielder? i usually pull up a center back, but i was curious what most other people do and which seems more beneficial.
also if a wing back is pulled up, how much will it hurt that sides defense rating and how much will it hurt that sides wing attack?

I dunno, I use the 3-4-3
I think it depends on the talent along the defensive line. If I have 2 solid wingbacks, I pull up a central defender to keep the balance. If I only have one solid wingback and a couple solid defenders then I put the wingback on the stronger attack side of my opponent and pull the other wingback up to the midfield.
When I have pulled up a wingback, I usually try to get my best defensive winger on that side as well (I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but I do it anyway). I haven't seen significant drops when I pull up a wingback, but that might have been because he wasn't that good to begin with.

i always pull a central defender. I have a brilliant keeper so the drop in central defence ratings doesn't bother me at all. I don't like the idea of one side being considerably weaker than the other

it's almost always been a question of form for me....decide who I'm going to play first, then decide what position they should play.

Something to keep in mind here. If you're replacing one of your wingbacks with an inner midfielder, and your opposition uses "Attack on Wings" against you, you could be in for a looooong day.

Generally I pull one from the middle. I think this provides more balanced ratings. Plus the wingbacks contribute to your offensive side ratings. The only time I wouldn't is if the team I'm playing has a very strong middle attack plus weak side attacks.

I generally use symmetric 3-5-2 (moving a centreback to inner midfield) but I'll switch to asymmetric (moving a wingback to inner midfield) when needed, generally against a 3-4-3. Because I almost always play my wingbacks defensive anyway, I never really care if the defender have any winger skill when I put them out there.

It really depends on the opponent...
