I'm one of those guys whose been lurking around since the old board days about 3+ years ago. I bought FOF2k1 when it first came out and loved it. In fact I still love it. I never bought 2k2 because it was just a repeat of 2k1. I realize the downfalls of 2k1 but I still think that it was a great game. I'm now contemplating buying FOF2k4. My stumbling block is simple. The demo does not show the game. How do I know if I will like this game better than 2k1? I read peoples takes on this game and you get positive and negative feedback. For all of the big FOF2k1 fans out there......am I going to love this game? I think I need someone to sell this game to me because the demo does not.

Also I have one more question

Does the "good player" in TCY translate into a "good player" in FOF2k4. I know that there was always an issue with guys who never played more than a game or two in college would be 1st overall picks in FOF2k1. Is there some kind of correllation between the 2 games yet?

I'm not going to try to sell you on the game, but I don't think there's any doubt at all that FOF2k4 is a much better game than FOF2k1. Whatever criticisms or anything else you hear, no one says FOF2k1 was better. So if you liked the old version, I can't think of any reason you wouldn't like the new version.

If you liked any of the previous versions of FOF you will without a doubt love this one. This game was a giant step forward for the series.

Honestly, the only real gripe I have with the game right now is sack numbers are a little too high, and thats really being nit-picky.

The draft is better, the AI is better, contract negotiations are better. There really isn't anything in FOF2k1 that isn't better in 2k4.

Buy it and enjoy.

Is the player correllation in line between TCY and FOF? I would buy both TCY and FOF if this was the case. I just don't want the 3rd string DE on my team to be a stud in the NFL.

Why not if it happens once in awhile? What about Terell Davis? Conversely, what about Dan Wilkonson (Sp?).

I understand you don't want that happening every single year. I can tell you from experience (and having bought every FOF game) that in the later editions of FOF, I do not see this happening. In face, in FOF4 and FOF5 it is even harder to get all out "stars" from the first rounds...something that mimics the nfl for the most part. You will have your Chris Chambers and Charles Rogers. There will be the Jevon Kearses and the Kendrel Bells that will come up in the draft. You will get great players in the early drafts. You will get great players in the later rounds too. I don't think anybody has had a real issue with the quality of players coming out not being pretty close to real life.

Also, if you are hesitant on buying FOF5, perhaps this thread will change your mind. I would put my vote in for "get it".

I went from FOF2 to FOF2k1 and then directly to FOF2k4 and I highly reccomend it. I was amazed at how many improvements were made throughout the game between 2k1 and 2k4.

I would be much more cautious about TCY however. If your favorite part of FOF is drafting, trading, FA, etc you might be disapointed with TCY. I know a lot of people (myself included) who loved fof2/fof2k1 and couldn't get into TCY at all.
