Sounds like the same sort of move that Arrington made with the NFLPA.
The article makes it sound like they can't even have a power-hitting "LF #25" in the game, which sounds odd considering Madden does it all the time.

Now batting for the Giants, LF #52 Larry Ponds.

If it's close enough to Bonds's likeness, then he can sue.
At least in the NFL, you can't really see much if you give him a faceshield and the like

Guess I won't be buying any baseball games next year. Barry Bonds is my favorite player and something like this would keep me from purchasing.
Hopefully a deal can be worked out between the MLBPA, a gaming company and Barry for an exclusive. Of course, given where Barry plays the favorite for that is EA (at one time it would've been 3D0).
What's interesting is that sports card companies sign player exclusives all the time, especially Upper Deck. And if I remember right, Topps has a long-standing policy of individual negotiations.
It'll be interesting to see what becomes of this.
EA Sports presents MVP Baseball 2005 featuring Barry Bonds. Hmmm!!! It fits.

As long as it doesn't look like Bonds, or use too similar a name, I think they would be fine.

I think the steroids companies should sue Barry Bond's saying they own about 90% of his body mass and DEMAND that their part be in the game

Wouldn't it be funny if when you chose the Giants in one of the games, you got a message saying "unfortunately, your starting LF has been suspended for the season for steroid abuse".

Ah, yeah, Bonds would have his lawyers in action faster than one of his home run's sailing into the Bay.

Funny, but slanderous. Lawsuit a go-go :)

That if you ever attended a game at Chavez Ravine, you'd leave by the sixth inning?

I think putting Barry on the cover of the EA game would be great, I mean, with the jinx and all, it could very well mean his head would finally pop...

You dont know the thrill on honking at a game winning homerun.
Actually with Eric Gagne, everyone stays if we are winning and he comes in. As soon as we go up by 4 though, everyone bolts for the doors

By reading the title of the thread I assumed this was going to be a steroid related suspension from baseball.
But then I started wondering if I missed the other 4 strikes he gets.

Can they really be sued for having a guy with the same subjective ratings as bonds? That's like the tecmo series putting in guys who didn't belong to the nflpa (QB Eagles for cunningham, TE Eagles for Keith Jackson)
How about some more from the tecmo series....that would be cool. Lets come up with all of the non nflpa players we can think of.

There was a baseball game for Super Nintendo, don't remember the name, that just switched the first letters of the first and last names around.

I like the sound of Gomar Narciaparra, Dohnny Jamon, and Medro Partinez.
Wonder what would happen with Coco Crisp, however. Would you have to revert to pig Latin?

Or Barry Bonds for that matter?
"And now batting for San Fran, Barry Bonds!"
"That's it, we sue!"
"But we changed the name! We used the B from his last name on his first name and the B from his first name on his last name"

Dola:
I remember EA's NBA Showdown (93?) for super nintendo. This was before the live series. I think that was the last time Jordan was in an actual nba basketball video game. Anybody else know if he was in the nba live series before 2000 or whenever he came back into the series?

Didn't Jordan do a similar thing?
