Hi all,

I just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is John Comey, and I'm sort of new to the text football circles. I've never really considered them (I'm a baseball gamer at heart), but seeing FOF2004 and TPF has changed my feeling on the subject.

Anyway, I just wanted to drop a line and say hello. Some people will recognize me from the OOTP boards (John C)...others will recognize me from .400 (where I'm listed on the staff page, for some odd reason). If you frequent any baseball leagues, you may know of my American Baseball League (in my sig), an OOTP league that's currently in its 105th season.

Take care, and I look forward to discussing things with all of you in the near future.

Thanks for reading,
John

Welcome to the boards!

Be careful, though. This board is really good at finding other text sims to try. Once you dabble in the football text sims, then before you know it you'll own Championship Manager, then a basketball one, then horseracing, gladiator, etc. You've started down a slippery slope by expanding past baseball. ;)

105 online seasons is impressive, by the way.

Well, I should clarify.

I simmed out 100 of the seasons before turning it over to human owners. I plan to write a full-length book on the history of the league, much like Bill James' Historical Baseball Abstract.

I do own other games (Tournament Dreams, TPB come to mind)...football text sims was something I didn't get into until just recently.

I *do* have plans to open a website concerning my leagues, along the lines of ESPN.com...a full, e-sports world. It's been a plan for three years now...but now, with the rise of text sims, I have the chance to do it.

Now, I just hope I can pull it off. ;)

Wow, a full length book?

I have never had any interest in online leagues, but recently as i see how much people get into them, i think i'm leaning towards getting in an FOF2004 league. Guys who go all out like you sure make it seem like it would be VERY interesting!

Anyways, welcome, and enjoy!
