I have a vision of a world in which all major sports outlets have all of their writers for the specific sports make preseason predictions about the sport. At the same time, an internet poll is put up for the general public to make its predictions. After the season, any writer whose answers would cause him to finish in the bottom 25% of the general public poll loses his job.
That would hold people accountable for being flat out wrong so often.
(And yes, I know of all the reasons that this idea sucks, but I still think that there is hidden upside to it.)
