Any TCU fans, please give me your thoughts on this, um, development. Please explain to me why it's not simply a case of

1.) Dodging Miami of Ohio

and

2.) Playing at home

The whole academic hogwash doesn't really fly. How did your basketball team do tonight with their 10:00 p.m. local tipoff on a school night? And how did those 5(?) weeknight football games this year go?

Their academic issue was that the game is the same week as finals and the team would be expected in town for much of that week. So the week-night games are not comparable here. I remember their coach lamenting that fact a couple weeks ago.

However, I would have liked to have seen the Miami OH matchup. The Redhawks are a darned good football team, one, I suspect that would have taken TCU by surprise. It may have been the best offense, by far, that they faced this year.

They wouldn't have taken TCU by surprise. They would have been favored and would have beaten TCU.

And give me a break on the finals crap. Every high school and college in the country will allow their student-athletes (or band members) who have a commitment to perform during finals week reschedule the finals as necessary.

Yeah. Good point. I'm starting to come around to your side on this. But hey, if my team had a suspect pass defense like TCU, Miami Oh is the last team I'd want to play.

It does come off as a bit gutless.

On a neutral field, Miami would be a double digit favorite over TCU.

Somehow I don't think Hyman dodging a school he was a former AD at before TCU flies.

Second of all, Hyman conferred with the C-USA president to play in Hawaii first. They decided to send Houston. It is all over the news such as ESPN.

Third your 10 pm tipoff is a very bad example and so is your weeknight game. You are talking about an entire week not 2 days that finals are scheduled.

TCU offered to play in the Mobile Bowl and show up the day before the game. The Mobile Bowl officials would have none of it and demanded they show up for the entire week. That is also documented.

Hyman also cancelled the women's basketball team going to a preseason tournament a couple of years ago because it conflicted with finals week. I wouldn't expect anyone to know this unless you followed the school.

TCU would have to stop Miami, but Miami would have to stop TCU, one of only 8 teams in the country averaging 200/200 in rushing and passing. Definitely not a walkover as people seem to believe.

Not only that, but it was brought up to the commissioners attention before the Southern Miss loss which is also documented that TCU would not play in the Mobile Bowl because of exam week. Unless you believe that Hyman is a psychic and knew that they would pick Miami of Ohio beforehand. If so he is in the wrong profession.

Boise State is a pretty solid team in a bad conference, and are ranked 2nd nationally in offense (4th passing) and 31st in defense and 2nd in scoring.

Not only all that but the GMAC Mobile Bowl is in breach of contract with C-USA for not holding their game from Dec 20-31st. I am curious why... exams maybe?

Give me a break and tell me where I can go to a high school that will let students miss finals for a game. I teach high school and coached for 11 years and I can tell you that is not true. They would not ALLOW an event to be scheduled, and if a playoff game was attained, it would be on a saturday and the team would leave after school on friday, which in Dallas would be at 10:45 am for the final day of finals.

Also, Hyman was on TV last night, in part explaining that the monday game was a no school day (forgot why) and the friday game was during winter break, so no school was missed, etc...
