New coach

I'm thinking of getting a solid coach with all the new ticket money that's flooding in. What's the minimum leadership value I should aim for? I'm making about $210,000 per two weeks at the moment, and I've got $225,000 in the bank at the moment.

you dont have to live in any specific country to daytrade... you just have to have a lot of extra time to waste. :P

how to consider a coach:

get a solid coach if you can afford one. otherwise go with passable. if you cant afford passable no use in buying a coach.

your coaches leadership will affect your team spirit. it will also drop about one level per season. if you have a clown and rely on good midfield performance then you want to keep team spirit high and a coach with good leadership is preferrable. if you dont have a clown and/or your strength is not in your midfield, then your teams spirit isnt as important and your coaches leadership wont matter much.

if you are like me and like to keep team spirit high, then you need a coach with good leadership, which also means you need to replace your coach every season or two. I have contrived an economical way to accomplish this, and that is to obtain experienced players with passable leadership and convert these players to coaches. I have 3 players between 30-32 (one of them is actually the sole remaining member of my original team) who are all passable leaders and have experience that ranges from solid to formidable. these type of players preform well becuase of their experience and make good team captains too. it costs me less to convert two of these players to coaches then to buy a new one. I plan on converting one of them to a coach about every 2 seasons. this will costs me about $300K per season (depending on the players experience when they are converted). after converting them you can still use them as players but the one downside is that you can never resell that player.

Toss in the expected sales of what will be an excellent middie with inad passing & excellent stamina and a formidable middie with solid (probably, might be passable) stamina and if I hold onto my cash for the rest of the season I should be able to afford a solid/passable with cash to spare for an OK trainee. Especially if my youth squad turns out anything useful.

I wouldn't make the assumption you're going to sell out every home game for the rest of the season. One rainy day, will hurt your plan, two will kill it, and three would be unfairly cruel, but still possible. Just my 2 cents.

If you are going to be saving up to buy a coach, go buy a passable exp (or better) player with passable leadership and play him every chance you get to get him to solid experience. He will then cost a bit under 700K to turn into a coach after he has been with your team for a year.

Is passable experience worthwhile? The experience system is something of a gamble.

A big reason that passable experience coach-trainee is frequently recommended is that solid experience players with good leadership are tougher to find and goes for more. IF you find one and can afford it, DEFINITELY take him. If he pops more while with you, he'll just cost you less to convert. A win-win situation.

I suggested passable because I bought a pass/pass for 17K after watching several solid/pass go for 300K+. Unfortunately, my guy will probably not pop in time to convert as soon as his year is up -- but i probably will not have 700K by then anyway.

buy a passable/passable... its much cheaper and he should bump with 1 full season of play.

You can even find a solid/passable for under $300K if you shop and bookmark a lot. It look me a long time to find a solid/solid for under $700K (never mind the fact that I decided to just try and bump a pass/pass instead and am selling my solid/solid back for nearly $800K).

Cost me more money than he's worth, but it'll be a bargain if he pops to solid. Is it worth playing him in league matches (I train middies, so it'd have to be up front) for the extra experience?

Play him as a forward or wing in league matches that you should easily win. Hopefully you have a few of those.
