So I trade up in the draft to get this stud WR whose bars are maxxed out.

After training camp, I look at my scout overview and see that he has a current rating of 58 with a future potential of 93!!!! Man am I excited. Three weeks into preseason, and I get an email that tells me that he has a degenerative hip problem and that he won't be back for 2 seasons.

Fast forward to next year, and I check my roster but he isn't on there. I go to the transaction log, and guess what happened?

RETIRED!!!!

DDDDAAAAMMMMMIIIITTTTTTTTT!!!!!!

You idiot, trading up in the draft????? Let this be a lesson: You should only ever trade DOWN.

Object lesson for trading up. I had the 4th pick in my first season as the Bears (after quick-simming through 12 seasons, they weren't very good.) There was a WR I was really excited about, but figured would go at #3. I thought about trading up, and toyed with a few options, but decided to grab a nice CB instead. Round 2 arrives, and I snatch up another good WR, who not only had better numbers as a rookie than the guy I was going for, but has better ratings after one season!
