First, a little background. The eNFL is a multi-player league which has formed here at FOFC. It is a real teams and real players league. I have accepted responsibilities of the St. Louis Rams and look to lead them to further glory.
The league sims on Wednesday and Saturday of every week.
Check out our website (http://www.tredwel.com/FOF_eNFL/) and, if interested, join the waiting list.
Now on to my Rams!
Here is a quick look at my staff:
Head Coach - Darrell Sutton:
Motivation - Good
Discipline - Very good
Offensive play-calling - Good
Defensive play-calling - Good
Injury Avoidance - Very good
----------
I am liking what I see from Mr. Sutton. His individual player ratings arent as good (four "fair", three "good", two "average")
I like to see his "very good" in injury avoidance.
Lead Scout - Freddie Patino:
QB - Good
RB- Poor
WR - Average
OL - Fair
K/P - Good
DL - Good
LB - Fair
CB/S - Fair
Youth - Good
-------
About the middle of the pack in terms of scouts. He will do just fine. At least the one that he is rated "poor" at I know I have a stud in Marshall Faulk. The young talent rating of "good" is also a plus.
Offensive Coordinator - Alan Barton:
QB - Good
RB - Very Good
Rec- Good
OL - Average
K/P - Average
Youth - Average
--------
Not bad.
Defensive Coordinator - Lamar Price:
K/P - Good
DL - Good
LB - Very Good
CB/S - Fair
Youth - Good
-------
Again, can't complain too much.
First thing is first. I decided to take a good long look at the roster and find the first needs. The fullback position was a hole staring me right in the face from the beginning. I knew going in, I would have somewhat of a QB "controversy" with Warner and Bulger. I also noticed that I needed to get to work on re-negotiaitions before the season starts. I am looking to sign the following players to long(er) term deals:
OT - Orlando Pace (1 yr. remaining)
OG- Adam Timmerman (1 yr. remaining)
DE - Grant Wistrom (1 yr. remaining)
LB - Tommy Polley (2 yrs. remaining)
I would love to get the first three signed so I won't have to worry about that come free agency at the end of the season. Polley looks like a very promising linebacker and his leadership is a very high 98 (good for those young linebackers coming in).
Ironically Pace has the lowest rated agent in terms of stubborn negotiator (33). Wistrom has an average 48 and the other two are rather high (Timmerman is a very high 85 and Polley has a high 75).
Looking at the secondary I notice some changes need to be made. I have decided to cut FS Kim Herring to save cap room. He is pretty expensive and we are tight with the cap. I also decided to move Aeneas Williams (actually gained some attributes with the move) from strong to free safety which would open up the strong safety job to Adam Archuleta. I also moved Jason Sehorn from a safety position to a cornerback to strengthen that weakness. My new secondary looks like this:
RCB - Jason Sehorn
LCB - Fred Weary
SS - Adam Archuleta
FS - Aeneas Williams
On to the fullback situation. I contacted several GM's about aquiring a fullback. The Patriots, Chargers and Texans each had good backups so I contacted all three. The Pats were the frontrunner and after some negotiation for Fred McCrary, things fell through. I then got in touch with the Texans and we agreed to the following deal:
Rams get: FB Greg Comella
Texans get: 7th round draft pick - 2004.
I am very happy with this trade. Comella is a good (not great) fullback that will help open holes for Faulk and protect whoever is quarterbacking this team. He will see few carries.
So I sent in the first export file with four hopeful renegotiated contracts, a trade for a fullback, I also offered a contract to SS Wade Wright, a guy my scout sees as a good special teams performer who can fill out my roster.
I will update after the first sim!

Well, the first sim was only two games and it was mostly for teams to start filling their rosters with promising young players and to fill holes. This is the first opportunity we all had at getting things going in the right direction in terms of the free agents. Most that had any value would most likely get snagged after this sim. I wasn't too worried about this and focused more on re-negotiations.
Those didn't go so well:
Timmerman - REJECTED!
Pace - REJECTED!
Polley - REJECTED!
Wistrom - REJECTED!
I somewhat expected this as I went pretty much lower than their demands for the initial negotiation to see if I could snag somebody really cheap. Didn't work.
I am going to have to negotiate a little more to try to lock at least two of these guys up after the next sim.
SS Wade Wright accepted his 230,000/1 yr. contract and becomes a member of the Rams.
On another front, I posted a message at our league forum about Kurt Warner and/or Marc Bulger being available for the right price. I had slim talks with the Bears and Cardinals but nothing was really looking good to me. I was fully intending on going into the first season with both, fighting for time and eventually have my guy. At least this way I would have a backup in case of injury.
As time progressed and more interested parties started to call, I decided to not close my eyes to any opportunites. The Pittsburgh Steelers called and said they were aggressively seeking Kurt Warner. They asked if I was interested in any players off of their roster and after close examination I felt this offense could use a player like wide receiver and punt returner Antwaan Randle El. Talks began to heat up. And after much negotiation we came to an agreement!
Kurt Warner Dealt
St. Louis (AP) - The St. Louis Rams today announced that Kurt Warner has been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The two-time NFL MVP, along with rookie wide reciever Mike Furrey were dealt for two players and a pair of draft picks.
The Rams acquire wide reciever and punt returner Antwaan Randle El and backup quarterback CJ Grimley in the four-player deal. In addition the Rams obtain the rights to the Steelers fourth-round draft choice in 2005 (two years away) and a conditional pick in the upcoming amateur draft.
The terms of the conditional pick are as follows:
Assuming Warner plays in ten regular-season games for the Steelers:
4,000+ passing yards = 1st round draft choice
3,000-3,999 yards = 2nd round draft choice
2,000-2,999 yards = 3rd round draft choice
less than 2,000 yards = 4th round choice
Other terms of the deal apply.
Rams GM Mark Taylor has this to say, "We have a lot of respect for Kurt Warner as a player and a person. We feel that at this time Marc Bulger is the future and will begin the 2003 season as our starting QB", adding, "Kurt has a chance to continue his career in Pittsburgh and, unfortunately we have to face him in his new digs in week eight."
---------------
I am very happy with this trade. I want to throw Marc Bulger in there and have him be our starting quarterback. This now gives him another dangerous option in Randle El and some picks to help build our future. This also opens up a lot of cap room that can be used to re-sign the afformentioned players which now includes Marc Bulger who is in his last year of a contract.
Now since that ordeal is done, I have time to really look at my roster and make some important personell decisions:
I want to strengthen my long-snapper and special teams by adding free agents and also drop a few players. (Note- We are allowed to hold up to 60 players. Going into this sim, we have 58).
I have offered contracts to the following players:
FS – Andre Horn
A better than average special teams player and a guy that can step in and make a few plays.
WLB – Claude Blackburn
Another good special teams player who punishes people with hits.
SS – Erik Haldar
Yet another special teams performer who can make a small contribution to the team in relief situations in our secondary.
C – Eric Shelton
Strictly a long snapper. My scout rates him a 100.
LDT – Vince Holland
Just a young promising defensive player who my scout feels can get into the mid to upper 40's at some point in his career.
FB – Obafemi Ayanbadejo
Looking to pick up the former Baltimore Raven who isnt a very good player but is young and could develop. He is better than our other backup who will be cut.
I am going to release FS - Jeremetrius Butler and FB- Dan Curley in favor of Horn and Ayanbadejo (assuming I get them).
During the preseason we will sim two weeks (two pre-season games) to keep things moving and get to the "real" season. I play the defending AFC Champion Oakland Raiders and then the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Bucs in week two.
More than anything I hope to get out of the two games with few injuries and a couple re-signed players.
Will update after the sim.

How are you getting those conditions to work?
mtaystl03
12-03-2003, 05:24 PM
It is a multi-player league so we just remember them. He trades me the worst pick I could get and then when and if Warner reaches his goal, I just trade him that 4th rounder back for whatever level he ends up in.
Does that answer your question?

Cool to see your report. I don't think we play this season, do we?

Yeah, I'm the GM of the Steelers in the eNFL, so I was very happy to get Kurt Warner on my team, as I had nodoby to throw the ball and needed a solid QB. Hopefully the Steelers and the Rams will meet up in the Super Bowl this year!!

We will see. I could forsee us struggling this season but when Bulger develops and with the picks coming up, I think we are on the right track.
The next sim is tonight (Wednesday, the 3rd) at 9 PM CT. I should have an update later on tonight.

Ahhh... where's the love for Warner? Just because Bulger has a ring doesn't mean he's earned it. :)
I haven't started my carrer with FOF yet, who knows, I might do the same thing.

First of all, I was wrong. We only simmed one game this week. So, off to Oakland, CA we go for the first pre-season game of the season.
Pre-season game one: @ Oakland Raiders
http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/oakland-helmet.gif vs. http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/rammer.gif
I guess the Raiders (yabanci) really doesn't want Rich Gannon to get hurt because he didnt play a down in the entire game.
Things started out alright as Marc Bulger came up with two third-and-long conversions to Faulk and Bruce to get deep in enemy territory after both teams went three-and-out in each of their first possessions.
Then all of the sudden, as Bulger was looking for Holt, Bill Romanowski picked him off and rumbled 83 yards for a score.
7-0 Raiders.
On the ensuing drive Bulger found Bruce again for 30 yards and things were looking up. Faulk was slowed the whole game and the laundry started flying. After getting into their red-zone for the 2nd time in the game, two costly holding penalties and a loss of three yard run pushed us out of FG range.
It remained 7-0 as our defense was playing pretty well. We were driving again, only to see Bulger throw another interception at the Raiders nine yard line. Luckily this time Shaun McDonald, the intended recevier brought Buchanan down before he could score.
We got to halftime with the 7-0 deficit and it was an ugly half. The offense was moving but stalling deep in their territory. The defense was playing exceptional football (might of had something to do with Rick Mirer quarterbacking them).
Halftime - 7-0 Raiders.
On the opening kickoff of the 2nd half, Jason Fargas returned the ball 92 yards to put the Raiders up 14. Not good. The special teams needs to improve (you will see another miscue later).
14-0 Raiders.
Bulger finally got us on the board after an Aeneas Williams interception, he found Torry Holt from 20 yards away.
14-7 Raiders.
The tides of momentum were shifting as the defense came up with another stop (led all day by rookie Jimmy Kennedy) and forced a punt. Just as things were looking up, another special teams miscue occured. Bruce is returning my punts until Antwaan Randle El reports. He muffed the punt and it was only a matter of time until Mirer found the ageless wonder Jerry Rice for an 11-yard strike.
21-7 Raiders.
Wilkins added a 50-yard FG, but that would be all as we lose the opening pre-season game 21-7.
--------------------------------------------------
Game notes and key stats:
- Kyle Turley played very well with 4 key run blocks in the game.
- WR Dane Looker had a disappointing two drops.
- I was very happy with Jimmy Kennedy's 8 tackles and 2 assists.
- Isaac Bruce is emerging as Bulgers favorite target as he hauled in 8 catches for 127 yards.
- Bulger was 26-of-42 for 288 yards, 1 TD and 2 costly INT's. He played three full quarters. Scott Covington came in and was 3-of-10 for 23 yards.
GAME MVP: Oakland's Bill Romanowski
Thoughts:
I am not too upset. Barring a few penalties and the interception and kickoff return I think we played fine. Bulger will work it out. I am a little concerned about the 169 rushing yards we allowed. We have to give Oakland credit for their solid ground attack with Wheatley/Garner/Fargas and even Jerry Porter got a few carries.
More to come....
I will post again later with the roster moves, injuries, personell decisions and all that.

Nice to see a real, live MP league up and running.
Incidentally, in my SP game I was very happy to pick Bulger up as a free agent in 2004. His stats jumped into the 60's after a year starting in the 30's.

Nice to see a dynasty from the league where i'm also playing :) I'm the Miami GM. Btw, could you please post the settings at your gameplan that you will use vs my Dolphins? :P
Just J/K, i will add posts to your dynasty when my team is involved like after match report, trades etc so you will have both points of view.

Sounds good. Thanks for the kind words.
Hey Northwood, you happy I dealt Warner? Hopefully he does very well in PIT so I can grab another 1st rounder and Randle El can return a couple on you twice this year!!! :)
I better be careful not to give away too much information with some fellow eNFLers reading!
On to more updates.
First I will let you know of all that is going on around the league.
This is from the Commish's weekly recap in terms of injuries and transactions (looks like we get mentioned)
---
Injuries of the Week:
Baltimore got hit hard this week. G Edwin Mulitalo tore his MCL, and won't be back anytime soon. Rookie 4th rounder FB Ovie Mughelli also took a hit to the knee, tearing his lateral knee ligament, and will be down for 4 months.
Philadelphia gets the honorable mention. FB Jon Ritchie broke his arm, and should be full strength by Week 4. QB Donovan McNabb also took some knee damage in the game, but should be 100% by the start of the season.
Transaction of the Week:
Got to be the blockbuster trade involving Kurt Warner to Pittsburgh and Antwaan Randel El to St. Louis, among a plethora of other players & draft picks.
---
Not too much going on in the first week of the pre-season in the eNFL.
On to the transactions...
I heard back from all five players I am trying to resign:
Wistrom - REJECTED
Pace - REJECTED
Bulger - ACCEPTED
Polley - REJECTED
Timmerman - REJECTED
I am happy to get Bulger locked up, I have a good feeling about him being the future of this team. As for the others, I am going to go ahead and give them what they ask for. I have more room under the cap now (close to 9,000,000) after unloading Warner.
I am going to worry about Polley later as he still has 2 years and go ahead and try to lock up Timmerman, Wistrom and Pace.
As for the other moves. I was successful in signing 4 of the 5 guys I wanted:
S- Andre Horn
FB - Obafemi Ayanbadejo
LB - Claude Blackburn
S- Erik Haldar
C - Erik Shelton
The other guy was DT Vince Holland who got offers from GB, IND, MIA, SEA, SF and decided to sign with Dallas. Im just glad neither Seattle or San Fran got him.
Haldar and Blackburn are going to be inactive to start.
Horn will immediately become a gunner on special teams and see some action as the backup strong safety.
----
On another note, I am very happy that we had no significant injuries all game and that is something we hope will continue.
It is nice to get Randle El in and he will become our punt returner, 2nd kickoff returner and 3rd wide receiver. This is a guy that has big-play potential and is a nice addition to special teams (an area that must improve).
More to come...

Tonight (Saturday) is the next sim and we are preparing of the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Bucs in week two of pre-season football.
Again, the focus is to get the guys some work and hopefully avoid injury. We aren't too worried about winning the games but all players are being evaluated.
We are making the following personell decisions prior to the game:
Activate:
S Andre Horn
C Erik Shelton
Deactivate:
LB Courtland Bullard
TE Richard Angulo
Offer contract extensions to:
T Orlando Pace
G Adam Timmerman
DE Grant Wistrom
*Hopefully we will get somebody this time around.
We will also mess with the depth chart:
Our new punt returner and 3rd option at wideout has arrived! Antwaan Randle El will take over for Ike Bruce returning kicks and will fill Dane Lookers spot as the #3. Bruce will remain the 2nd option at punt returner and Looker will move to #4 on the depth chart at WR.
I will post after the sim...
Go Rams!

Pre-season game two: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/tampabay-helmet.gif vs. http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/rammer.gif
Things started out with us going 3-and-out and our D getting a stop. On our next possession the offense was moving down the field with a Bulger-to-Bruce 23 yarder and a Faulk 10-yard run. Once again, though, the drive is thwarted when Bulger throws his 3rd interception of the pre-season (Ronde Barber in the end zone).
The "D" held strong with a sack from DE Leonard Little. We then went 3-and-out and another stop by our defense, this time led by a Grant Wistrom sack for a loss of 8 yards. Not much going on early.
END OF 1st QUARTER -------------
Stats : STL (TB)
1st downs: 2 (2)
Pass yards: 34 (20)
Rush yards: 8 (28)
Total yards: 42 (48)
----------------------------------------------------
The 2nd quarter started much the same way the 1st quarter ended, not much going on. A three-and-out for them and one first-down and a stop by their D. As of right now I am liking the defensive effort put forth by my boys.
On our next drive Bulger comes up with 2 third-down conversions (one to Bruce and another to McDonald). We were at the two but Ronde Barber somehow pushed Marshall Faulk out of bounds for a -6 yard run. Wilkins dents the scoreboard for the first time with a 25 yard FG.
3-0 Rams
On the very next drive, Tampa QB Brad Johnson was picked by our Travis Fisher and he returned the ball for a TD!!
10-0 Rams
The Bucs felt the need to start going downfield with some passes now that they were down and Johnson completed a few long ones but the "D" held strong and Gramatica hit a 38-yarder to cut the lead to a touchdown.
10-3 Rams
We go three-and-out and Bulger is sacked for the first time (allowed by Pace). The Bucs get another couple big completions through the air and our boys again hold strong as Gramatica nails another FG, this time from 44 yards out.
Then the special teams woes continue as Arlen Harris fumbles the ball on the kickoff which is returned to our 5-yard line with just :05 on the clock. Gramatica hits another one and the halftime score is 10-9.
HALTIME-----------
Stats: STL (TB)
1st downs: 6 (8)
Pass yards: 86 (114)
Rush yards: 10 (57)
Total yards: 96 (171)
Despite being out gained pretty badly, we maintain a 10-9 lead at the half. The special teams is just killing us.
-------------------------------------------
Bulger played one series in the 2nd half and he threw a TD pass to Bucs' LB Derrick Brooks. His FOURTH interception this preseason. EEEWWWWW. They went for two and didnt get it.
15-10 Bucs.
Tampa took over from there as our backup (recently acquired from Pittsburgh) CJ Grimley threw an interception and Johnson found Keyshawn for a 3-yard score.
22-10 Bucs.
Gramatica added his fourth FG of the game from 51-yards out to put it out of reach just before the end of the 3rd quarter.
25-10 Bucs.
End of 3rd Quarter---------
Stats: STL (TB)
1st downs: 12 (12)
Pass yards: 126 (163)
Rush yards: 56 (89)
Total yards: 182 (252)
----------------------------------------------
In the final quarter, Ronde Barber got another interception of Grimley and Thomas Jones scored from 3 yards out. Getting real ugly.
32-10 Bucs.
Grimley started to pick things up and actually found Torry Holt from 3-yards out and then again found Antwaan Randle El form 21-yards. All too little too late.
The Bucs won the game 32-24 with Martin Gramatica picking game MVP honors.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My initial reaction is to not make a huge deal out of this. We played well enough in the first quarter to stay with this very good team. Things got out of hand later on.
The fact of the matter remains that our QB's are going to have to start being more careful with the ball. We will hopefully figure it out next weekend in Buffalo.
Other Notables:
-- We did force two fumbles in the game, both recovered by Tampa.
-- Last game it seemed to be the running game we couldn't stop, this game they were beating us through the air. Not good.
Stat lines:
Team Statistics TBY STL
First Downs 17 21
Total Rushes 36 24
Rushing Yards 120 65
Interceptions 1 4
We got more first downs and more passing yardage in the game. We were, however, grossly out rushed and the 4 INT's to 1 is a major problem.
Rushing Att Yards Avg Long TD
34 Gordon 12 49 4.0 12 0
28 Faulk 6 11 1.8 10 0
Again, Gordon impresses and Faulk does just about nothing. Not worried about this at all.
Passing Att Comp Yards Yd/Att Long TD Int Sckd
17 Grimley 22 11 169 7.6 36 2 2 0
10 Bulger 20 9 98 4.9 23 0 2 1
Grimleys line didn't turn out too bad but it was mop up yards and TD's. Bulger wasn't good at all, albeit that was a good defense.
Receiving Catch Yards Avg YAC Long TD
80 Bruce 5 75 15.0 6 23 0
81 Holt 5 40 8.0 9 15 1
28 Faulk 3 63 21.0 13 36 0
47 Comella 2 7 3.5 6 4 0
88 Randle El 2 46 23.0 3 25 1
87 Cleeland 1 10 10.0 0 10 0
86 Manumaleuna 1 14 14.0 5 14 0
84 MdDonald 1 12 12.0 4 12 0
Bruce and Holt have nice days and Antwaan Randle El, the guy we need to step up and make big plays had 2 for 46 and a score. Faulk contributed well in this, we will need to get the ball in his hands.
Nothing too exciting on defense. 2 sacks (Wistrom and Little) and the INT return by Fisher is about it. Aeneas led the team with six tackles.
I will post again later about the personell moves and re-signing attempts and more about this game.

Nice, I'll echo the sentiments of others, it's good to see a real MP league up and running. I'll have to throw my hat in with Northwood (I'm a 49er fan, what can I say), but I'll be following :)

Vince, please don't post anymore in this thread. You are my enemy just as much as Northwood. :) Just kidding. Thanks for the kind words. It's good to know people are reading.
Now for an update:
I heard back from the three guys that I wanted to resign:
T Orlando Pace - ACCEPTED a $23.26/3 year deal.
G Adam Timmerman - ACCEPTED a $14.90/3 year deal.
DE Grant Wistrom - ACCEPTED a $29.28/4 year deal.
LB Tommy Polley - REJECTED his offer.
I gave the other three guys what they wanted. Polley and his agent are not budging at all. I will hold of on re-negotiation talks with him for now.
With these three re-signings my cap room (this season) actually went up only 100,000 to 9,200,000. The next years are when the effects are going to hit. Well worth it for these three gems.
INJURY REPORT:
S Aeneas Williams - probable with Knee Bursitis - full strength in one week.
LB Robert Thomas - Out with torn knee cartilage - full strength in three weeks.
-- Two starters were injured in the Tampa game and while Thomas can't play, I am going to hold Williams out of the upcoming Buffalo game as a precaution.
OTHER NEWS AROUND THE eNFL
Here are the other key re-negotiated contracts in the league:
CB Champ Bailey (WAS) - $37.08/5 yrs.
CB Fred Smoot (WAS) - $23.17/6 yrs.
RB Jerome Bettis (PIT) - $16.86/4 yrs.
DT Warren Sapp (TB) - $16.29/3 yrs.
LB Jason Gildon (PIT) - $15.70/4 yrs.
S Darren Sharper (GB) - $12.85/4 yrs.
G Marco Rivera (GB) - $11.40/3 yrs.
TE Bubba Franks (GB) - $10.00/5 yrs.
Looks like the Redskins won't have to worry about that secondary for a long while. Pittsburgh and Green Bay are the other two that are making some key re-signings before the regular season starts.
Notes:
The Indianapolis Colts have tried twice to re-sign big-time free agent at the end of the season QB Peyton Manning, both times unsuccessfully. Manning has turned down offers of $53.68/5 years and $55.12/5 years.
Like Indy, the Jacksonville Jaguars are having a hard time resigning S Donovan Darius. They have swung twice and came up empty both times.
There havent been many serious injuries. Tampa will be without LB Shelton Quarles for a while.
Note: We dropped S Kim Herring and he signed with the Chicago Bears. He turned down more money ($1.01m from Denver) to go with the Bears at $660k.
Again, not much going on early in the preseason. More personell moves will be made and I will update soon. Next sim is Wednesday (Dec. 10th).
Thanks for reading.

This game is amazing.
I always find something else to put in this report.
Since we are a few days away from the next sim, I figured I would look into the "other" things going on in the game.
City Information
Saint Louis, MO -
We are the home of the Rams (obviously).
Plains region.
There arent any teams within 250 miles of us, which is strange because when I view individual distances it says that Indianapolis and Kansas City are 232 miles away. Oh well.
Nine teams within 500 miles. Im not going to list them. Who really cares?
Population: 2,600,000
Growth: 1.9%
Avg. Income: 31,500
Poverty level: 13.2%
Entertainment competition: Medium (49th percentile)
Trend setting city: High (67th percentile)
Obviously we don't desire a new team.
--- Pretty realistic if you ask me. Esp. considering the competition for entertainment at 49th percentile. The fans in St. Louis are GREAT. They love the Rams, Blues and Cardinals all the same. That is why its the best sports city in America!
As for the trend setting city, I would agree with that too. Kansas City has an identity crisis and it shows in their Chiefs. Their starting QB was born and raised in St. Louis. Their coach and half of their roster was recently a Ram AND they even steal the "Gotta Go To Work" motto that the Rams had in their Super Bowl season '99. Come on! :)
Franchise Value
Stadium: Fair (27) - 23rd in the NFL. The Edward Jones Dome does kinda suck. Being a season ticket holder since '95 I already desire a new one. We have to wait a while for that.
Roster: Very Good (72) - 16th in the NFL.
Support: Excellent (86) - 18th in NFL.
Economy: Good (47) - 15th in NFL.
TOTAL FRANCHISE VALUE = 388,500,000 - 20th in NFL.
Stadium
Edward Jones Dome
Capacity: 66,000
Opened in 1995
Type: Dome/Artificial turf
'03 attendance: 62,400
Condition: Average
Turf & Parking lot condition: Both very good.
We have ZERO public support for a new stadium which is understood.
The estimated amount of money a family of four would spend at our game is $289. The most in the league is the New York Giants at a whopping $543 (the next closest is Denver at $462). The lowest is Arizona at $119.
Other information:
League's Strongest Man
--OT Kyle Turley is currently the league's 2nd strongest man behind Seattle's Walter Jones. Turley managed 46 bench press reps, just one behind Jones.
League's Fastest Man
--We have two guys in the top 20 of the league's fastest men. WR Torry Holt is ranked 3rd with an impressive 4.28 40-yard dash time. He is actually tied with Wayne Chrebet, Charles Woodson and Peerless Price for the top spot. CB Jason Sehorn comes in at a 4.31, 12th on the list.
Power Rankings
--Our Rams are given a rating of '70' in the power rankings. We are tied for fourth in the NFC with our week one opponent, the New York Giants. The defending champion Bucs take the cake at an 84. Division rival Seattle is 2nd at 80 and Green Bay is a 73.
The Green Page
--Ranked #17 on the Green page ranking list is our 1st round draft pick out of Penn State, Jimmy Kennedy.
Team Cohesion
Here are our ratings and rankings among other teams in terms of cohesion:
Passing = excellent 84 - 9th in NFL.
Offensive Line = very good 77 - 17th in NFL.
Defensive Front = excellent 81 - 17th in NFL.
Secondary = good 49 - 22nd in NFL.
Not too bad. Our passing is still 9th even with Warner gone. The o-line will become one soon with the re-signing of Pace and Timmerman. The reason it slipped was the addition of Turley, who will be with us for a while.
On the defensive side of the ball we are young and inexperienced. Hopefully these guys can gel and mold themselves into one of the better units. I believe we have the guys to do it.
Average Age- ranks are decending.
Backfield: 25.6 years (22nd)
Offensive line: 29 years (1st) Oldest in NFL.
Defensive front: 25.7 years (25th)
Secondary: 27 years (7th)
ALL PLAYERS: 26.9 years (11th oldest team in the league).

The next report I will go through position-by-position and update the status of every player. Should be fun! :)

I am going through, position-by-position and just do a run down of the roster as we prepare for the Bills this week. Probably offense today and defense tomorrow.
Quarterbacks
#10 - Marc Bulger - Contract ends: 2005
We just re-signed Marc to a 3-year deal which locks him up through 2005. My hope for him is that he will develop into a solid quarterback for us. I doubt he will break any records and it may take a year to get to be a very solid QB. He is struggling in the pre-season so far (1 TD - 4 INT). He is our unquestioned starter. He may not have the best arm in the world but he will make up for that with smarts (hopefully!)
#17 - CJ Grimley - Contract ends: 2003
Acquired in the Warner/Randle El deal, mostly to fill the roster void. We actually got a decent player out of it. He is an undrafted rookie out of Rutgers. He is our #2 but if Bulger goes down, we are in trouble. That was one of the drawbacks of dealing Warner.
#4 - Scott Covington - Contract ends: 2003
This guy is pretty bad. Our #3. I doubt we will feel the need to re-sign him. We can find just about anybody, even in free agency now, that would take his place. If he starts a game for us we are in serious trouble.
Running backs
#28 - Marshall Faulk - Contract ends: 2008
Our unquestioned star and leader. He is getting up there in age but still possesses the talent to be an MVP in this league. We have him locked up for his career, or at least until he starts to decline. If Marshall stays healthy, you can bet he will be among the league leaders in rushing and receiving. He is the man on 3rd-down and getting to the outside, something we hope to take full advantage of.
#34 - Lamar Gordon - Contract ends: 2005
Lamar is the #2 guy and a good story coming out of D2 South Dakota State. He is a hard runner and pretty elusive. Mostly a north-south guy that picks up speed as he goes. We feel we have a pretty good chance to move the ball with him if Marshall suffers some sort of injury. He is in his 2nd year and we will have him around for 2 more after this. He is having a stellar pre-season so far (21 carries for 80 yards). Not the best receiver.
#33 - Arlen Harris - Contract ends: 2003
Another good story. Arlen is a rookie and went undrafted out of Virginia. His main drawback is his elusiveness. He has good speed and can run over a guy or two. He will see some spot duty especially as Faulk and Gordon start to wear down towards the end. I would like to re-sign Harris at the end of the year. A good guy to have around. Better receiver than Gordon which will earn him a few plays on 3rd down this year.
#49 - Maurice Peters - Contract ends: 2003
Another undrafted player out of Purdue. Peters is currently on the inactive roster and fourth on the running back chart. He seems to have good speed but no power at all. Not much going on here. He could become a role player with a team someday. Im sure he will make the active roster as injuries start to bite. Good special teams player. I don't plan on re-signing him if we bring Arlen back or he shows us something on special teams.
Fullbacks[/u
#47 - Greg Comella - Contract ends: 2003
A good sized fullback. We picked him up from Houston for a 7th round draft pick. A very good pass blocker with above average blocking strength. He is an OK run blocker which is something we hope he improves on. He will see a few balls thrown his way when we are looking for short yardage. Has a tendency to fumble the ball. We would like to bring him back but that all depends on how well he performs this season. I went to see if we could re-sign him now but his (and his agents) demands are pretty high right now.
#39 - Obafemi Ayanbadejo - Contract ends: 2003
A 5th-year player. Former Baltimore Raven. We signed him to a one-year deal for the league minimum. A good backup that can come in when needed. He was undrafted out of San Diego State. Mainly a run/pass blocker. He has the potential to become a solid blocker in this league. Won't see many carries.
#40 - Brett Whitman - Contract ends: 2003
A back just the opposite of Ayanbadejo, a runner instead of a blocker. Not much in either. Could continue to develop and make an impact on a few goal-line carries. Currently he is inactive. We may re-sign him if one of the other two move on after the season.
[u]Tight Ends
#87 - Cameron Cleeland - Contract ends: 2003
A former 2nd round pick of the Saints out of the University of Washington. Cleeland is a good tight end and will be our #1 guy. A good blocker and that is what we will look for him to focus on before becoming a receiver. A solid player. He's not going to break records but can come up with a few big plays and make a few big blocks. I am going to look into his demands for another year on that contract as he would be a guy we want to keep around.
#86 - Brandon Manumaleuna - Contract ends: 2003
2001's 4th round pick out of Arizona, Brandon is a large 6-2, 290. We don't expect too much out of him. He is our backup right now and shouldn't see too much action. I would be suprised if hes back in a Ram uni next year, although his leadership is a very high 97.
#48 - Richard Angulo - Contract ends: 2005
The Rams' 7th round pick this past draft, Angulo is from small West New Mexico U. He is currently inactive but could find himself on the team instead of Manumaleuna when it comes cut time. We will activate him for this next preseason came to see if he can do something.
Flankers
#81 - Torry Holt - Contract ends: 2009
It's nice to have the future of the organization locked up until 2009. Holt is one of the better receivers in the league. Awesome at getting downfield and makes the big-plays. He was the Rams 1st round (#6 overall) choice in 1999 out of North Carolina State. He will be Bulgers go-to-guy.
#89 - Dane Looker - Contract ends: 2003
This young man has been trying like hell to make this team. He went undrafted out of Washington. Has spent time in camp with the Rams before and actually had some pretty good pre-seasons, never making the squad. He was actually traded once to the Patriots and released. He is back with the team as the #2 flanker and #5 overall. He will step in and make a few plays. A good guy to look for on 3rd down. Im not sure at this point whether he will be back, it hurts him that he won't contribute much on special teams.
#83 - Kevin Curtis - Contract ends: 2005
The Rams 3rd round pick in this last draft looks like a dud to me. He may be a strict kick returner as my scout has his ranked pretty high in that. I may activate him and give him a shot to return some kicks for us in a pre-season game. Other than that, not much to report here.
Split Ends
#80 - Isaac Bruce - Contract ends: 2006
Bruce has been a Ram since the beginning and he is going to stay one. In this pre-season so far he has emerged as Bulgers favorite target and things may remain that way. He is a proven leader and, like his understudy Torry Holt, he is great at getting downfield and making that big-play. He is one of the best route runners in the game and a favorite among the Rams fans. Good punt returner but to keep him healty we will let Randle El take care of that (he's next). A solid player that we hope to have until he calls it quits.
#88 - Antwaan Randle El - Contract ends: 2005
A former college quarterback at Indiana, the Steelers grabbed him late in the 2nd round of the '02 draft. He is a punt/kick returner with the ability to make some big plays as a no. 3 option. He will play the role that Az-Zahir Hakim played for the Rams in the '99 championship year. In his one pre-season game with the Rams he had 2 catches for 46 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown reception. Should prove his worth this season.
#84 - Shaun McDonald - Contract ends: 2005
The other receiver drafted by the Rams in the past draft. He was snagged in the 4th round out of Arizona State. He has very sure hands and also has that knack for the big play, which seems to be a quality this whole receiving corps. possesses. Has the potential to be a very quality receiver in the league. Right now he is slated as our 4th receiver.
Centers
#64 - Dave Wholabaugh - Contract ends: 2006
We gots ourselves a pretty darn good center. Wholabaugh, a former Patriot, will be at the center of this offensive line that I would love to create a nice cohesion with. Run blocking is his specialty but does a nice job against the pass rush too. We have him until '06, I don't see us changing this.
#45 - Chris Massey - Contract ends: 2004
Massey is out of Marshall. He was drafted in the 7th round in '02. Right now he is our #2 and will see some spot action. Hopefully, though, Wholabaugh can stay healthy because Massey isn't ready for the full load. He will probably remain a back-up his whole career but it is possible that he could develop into something more.
#50 - Erik Shelton - Contract ends: 2003
Shelton was just signed for the league minimum. He is an undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame. He is a strict long snapper, rated a '100'. He could develop in the pass protection area and could see some time in the future in for-sure passing situations. Other than that, a career long-snapper.
Left Guards
#67 - Andy McCollum - Contract ends: 2005
This is by far the weakest of the starting positions on the offensive line. McCollum is pretty poor at both run and pass blocking and has just about zero blocking strength. This is the weak link here. This will be a definate position we will look to upgrade in the off-season.
#61 - David Loverne - Contract ends: 2003
Loverne is a decent run blocker but is piss poor at pass protection. He will see a few plays but hopefully not too many. Just a guy filling up a roster spot right now. Prolly won't be with us much longer.
Right Guards
#62 - Adam Timmerman - Contract ends: 2005
We just re-signed Timmerman through the 2005 season as we try to create a nice cohesion with this talented o-line. Adam is one of the very best pass protection men in the league. He is great overall blocker and has a chance to be all pro. He has been known to tire but he will have enough to get through an entire game. Very good, hard-nosed player.
#65 - Andy King - Contract ends: 2003
Just plain bad. He won't be with us much longer. We will look to pick up another backup RG before the Buffalo game.
Left Tackles
#76 - Orlando Pace - Contract ends: 2005
We just spent a lot of money to keep Pace here until '05. He is a former #1 overall draft pick. Another good member of this o-line, Pace is equally good at run and pass blocking and has great strength. Another very good player.
#77 - Grant Williams - Contract ends: 2005
Williams is a decent player, one of our better backups on the line. If we suffer injuries we are going to be in trouble but if this entire line can stay healthy, they may be the best in the league. Williams is better with the run. A decent backup. Should be with us.
Right Tackles
#68 - Kyle Turley - Contract ends: 2008
A very hard-nosed player that loves the competition. A guy you love to have on YOUR side. He is also one of the better offensive linemen in the game and rounds out the starting five on the line. Another San Diego State boy, very strong on both rush and pass and very strong. He is a fan favorite and I really like the guy.
#70 - John St. Clair - Contract ends: 2003
Another weak backup. St. Clair had to start a couple times in the past for an injured Orlando Pace. He didn't do very well and hopefully we won't have to see much of him on the field this year. One injury and we are toast. I will scour the free agents looking for some better backups. There just isnt much out there.
Punter
#5 - Sean Landeta - Contract ends: 2003
Sean Landeta has been around forever! He has good power and kick direction and is also our holder. He won't be around next year because he will definately retire. He will do just fine for us this season at the punter position.
Kicker
#14 - Jeff Wilkins - Contract ends: 2005
Wilkins is a very good kicker and will do a nice job for us both converting the 3-pointers as well as on kickoffs. He is signed through 2005 so we wont have to worry about a kicker for a while.
That's it for the offense. Looks like we are going shopping for some competent backup offensive linemen. We will be cutting down the roster and some of these guys wont be with us when we have to cut the roster to 53 (from 60).
Should be fun.
Look for the defense tomorrow.

Passacaglia
12-09-2003, 10:47 AM
Hey, can I ask what your plans are for your next game? I'm thinking that I'm done putzing around, and I'm ready to get all my starters in there, and see what I can do with gameplanning, and I can't think of a more difficult team to plan against than yours. What do you think of going all out this game? I'm thinking of starting all my best guys, probably putting them with playing time at 1, so that they leave with even the slightest injury, and changing my gameplan from the 'vanilla' plan that was there just to give Zordich and the other backups some experience to a gameplan that hopefully can beat you.
What do you think?
mtaystl03
12-09-2003, 11:50 AM
I have actually played Bulger and Faulk and my starters quite a bit in the first two games (oak and tb). I am going to go way more conservative now. You can feel free to start your starters, I am not concerned at all with winning in the pre-season. I will only play Bulger at like a '2' same with Faulk and the other stars. I hope to get my young guys a lot of time so I can figure out who to cut when that time comes.
Does this answer your question?
Passacaglia
12-09-2003, 12:12 PM
Yeah. I really only want to play all my starters, if I know you're going to do the same. I'll be sticking with the young guys, too.
Great stuff mtay. I did have to laugh at Sehorn being one of the fastest players in the NFL though.

JAG - Thanks and yes I had to take a double-take when I saw that too. :)
The defensive players outlook should be coming tonight sometime.
mtaystl03
12-10-2003, 12:23 PM
Time for the defensive outlook. These guys as a group are playing pretty well so far but our youth will probably catch up with us at some point.
Left Defensive Ends
#91 - Leonard Little - Contract Ends: 2006
Leonard is an above average player who is pretty one-dimensional. He is awesome rushing the passer and is a very punishing hitter but struggles against the run. He could lead the league in sacks but his rush D could be considered a liability. If he is going to be one-dimensional it is better that he is a pass rusher at the end position. NOTE: In real life, I am convinced he is the best defensive end in the entire league.
#97 - Tyoka Jackson - Contract Ends: 2005
Undrafted out of Penn State, Jackson is nothing against the run but is a solid pass rusher. A good backup to have and a leader on defense.
Right Defensive Ends
#98 - Grant Wistrom - Contract Ends: 2006
Wistrom is another guy we just re-signed because he is a Ram and will remain one for a while. He is one of the better ends in the league and he possesses both good pass rush and run-stopping abilities. Believe it or not, he actually has some room to grow which is scary! A leader on defense.
#94 - Bryce Fisher - Contract Ends: 2003
Wistrom's backup is a very solid player with potential to develop into a starter in this league. The Bills drafted him in the 7th round of the 1999 draft and he has yet to fully develop. Our scout sees him becoming a solid 50's player in the future. We are going to look to re-sign this guy at the end of the season.
Left Defensive Tackles
#92 - Damione Lewis - Contract Ends: 2005
The Rams 1st pick (no. 12 overall) in the 2001 draft out of Miami, FL. He is a solid starter now and has yet to fully develop. Hopefully he can stay healthy for an extended period of time for the first time in his career. His run defense is so important at that position and he will continue to develop into a great player.
#66 - Brian Young - Contract Ends: 2003
The Rams were criticized pretty heavily when they drafted this Texas-El Paso graduate in the 5th round of that 2000 draft. It has turned out to be a pretty good pick-up. A solid backup for Lewis will see plenty of time and have a change to make some plays for us this year. He has the most potential as a pass rusher.
Right Defensive Tackles
#73 - Jimmy Kennedy - Contract Ends: 2006
The most recent 1st round choice of the Rams has the most potential of any young player on the roster. He is ranked 17 on the 'green page' and should develop into just that, a star. Right now he is starting which will help him develop fast. He might not be very good right now but it is good that we are getting him in there to get expierience early on. Future All-Pro here.
#79 - Ryan Pickett - Contract Ends: 2005
What a disappointment this guy has turned out to be. He was the 2001 drafts 1st-round pick. He might not even make the team! He will get a start in the final pre-season game to see if he is worth carrying his weight this season. Right now, things aren't looking too good.
Middle Linebackers
#55 - Robert Thomas - Contract Ends: 2006
Thomas is currently nursing some torn knee cartilage and while he is starting, we will give him a day off against Buffalo. He is another former 1st round pick out of UCLA (2002). Huge potential but right now is still developing. Needs to start going a little faster as this whole linebacking corps is young and inexperienced.
#59 - Jaime Duncan - Contract Ends: 2006
Duncan is probably better than Thomas right now but he is much older and we want to get Thomas the experience as he grows into the full-time guy. Duncan might see a few starts and is definately one of our leaders on special teams.
#90 - Deron Gibson - Contract Ends: 2003
Listed as a WILB. We might move him to middle linebacker. Talk about a success story so far. Undrafted out of Westminster college his story has just began. We feel he has the potential to start someday. You may be hearing this guys name in the future! We won't let him go.
Strong-side Outside Linebackers
#50 - Pisa Tinoisamoa - Contract Ends: 2006
"Hawaii 5-0" is going to be a good player. Like Thomas, we want to throw him into the fire to get his experience up and star for us. Thomas and Tinoisamoa could develop into one of the most feared linebacking tandems in the league. He will struggle at times this year but that is part of the deal.
#54 - Scott Shanle - Contract Ends: 2005
Scott most likely won't make the cut down to 53 players. He has good pass rush strength but that is offset by his weak technique.
Weak-side Outside Linebackers
#52 - Tommy Polley - Contract Ends: 2004
Polley will start at one of the three linebacker positions and is a leader. We would like to re-sign him but he isn't budging yet. If he has a breakout season (which we expect) he will be demanding a lot more. His leadership (97) is going to be crucial to Thomas' and Tinoisamoa's development.
#51 - Courtland Bullard - Contract Ends: 2004
Strictly a backup. He will make a few plays for us but won't crack the starting lineup anytime soon. I could see him sticking with us until his contract ends and then we may just say good riddance unless something miraculous happens!
#56 - Jeremy Loyd - Contract Ends: 2003
Another backup who won't see much time. He isnt a leader and isnt very smart but has a good personality which will help the mood in the locker room. His special teams abilities save him from the cut list (for now).
#95 - Claude Blackburn - Contract Ends: 2003
We signed Blackburn to play on special teams. Right now he is inactive but will stick with the team. As injuries occur, he will see some time in special teams, other than that, not much here.
Left Cornerback
#32 - Fred Weary - Contract Ends: 2003
Our starter at left cornerback is a former New Orleans Saint who is a decent player. He will make a few plays but will also be beaten a few times. With Sehorn at the other cornerback we should be alright. I could see us going after some of the bigger name DB's in free agency after the season.
#22 - Travis Fisher - Contract Ends: 2006
A decent player and our dime-cornerback. He has been known to make some plays but is a liability most of the time. He did pick Brad Johnson and return it for a touchdown in the Tampa game. Hopefully he can do more of that in his limited playing time.
Right Cornerback
#42 - Jason Sehorn - Contract Ends: 2003
The original plan was for Sehorn to be a backup safety but he established himself as a quality member of our secondary and won a starting spot at corner, where he has played most of his career with the New York Giants. He will demand a lot of money so his future with the Rams after this season is uncertain at this time.
#21 - Kevin Garrett - Contract Ends: 2005
A fifth round pick last year, Garrett is making his impact on special teams as one of our gunners. He has good potential to become a good defensive back, whether at corner or safety. Should develop nicely with Aeneas Williams' leadership taking over.
#24 - DeJuan Groce - Contract Ends: 2005
4th rounder out of Nebraska. Groce was the subject of some trade talks earlier this year (involving New England for FB Fred McCrary) but we feel he is going to be a solid contributor, especially on special teams.
Strong Safety
#31 - Adam Archuleta - Contract Ends: 2005
A physical specimen out of Arizona State, Archuleta has established himself as the starting strong safety and a good one at that! He will come up some key interceptions and be a good guy to have patroling the deep secondary of this defense. Should be great to see his development.
#43 - Erik Haldar - Contract Ends: 2003
This is a guy we just signed to play a lot on special teams and while he will do that he can make some plays when Archuleta needs a breather (which won't be very often).
#41 - Wade Wright - Contract Ends: 2003
Another recent signing to boost special teams. Won't see much on-field action. Will make the team and find himself inactive until injuries start biting.
Free Safety
#35 - Aeneas Williams - Contract Ends: 2004
This guy is just amazing. Rating out the roof and will be a leader for the young guys of this secondary. Hopefully he will stay with us for another year after this one as he is getting up there in age.
A defensive and team leader.
#38 - Shane Walton - Contract Ends: 2005
A fifth-rounder out of Notre Dame, Walton should be a good player. Like a lot of players, he will make his immediate impact on special teams and hopefully develop into a starter and take over for his master Aeneas someday!
#30 - Andre Horn - Contract Ends: 2003
We just signed Horn to make an impact on Special teams (makes me wonder where all these guys are in the game, ST has been miserable in our two games so far!) and as well as spot plays here and there.
The defensive unit is fairly strong with some weak spots but they are young and should develop into a great one (again, hopefully!). Obviously, some of these guys won't be with us later on.
The next sim is tonight at 10! Will update late tonight!

Can I ask if you were planning on passing so much against the Bills last week? Or was it just a coincidence? I mean, I know you guys fell behind pretty early, but you passed a whole heck of a lot.

Before I post the game report I would like to answer Passacaglia's question. The answer is no. The computer seems to completely disregard my game plans and depth charts I have set. I had Bulger playing at a '2' yet he played the whole game. Aeneas Williams was supposed to be inactive but he played the whole game as well.
As for the passing, we were down and I just hope to god I can figure this whole thing out before the regular season.
Thanks to B&B for the bump and Kodos for the kudos on Randle El. We will see if he works out for us.

Pre-season game three: at Buffalo Bills
http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/buffalo-helmet.gif vs. http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/rammer.gif
Before I even start talking about how horrible this game was I would like to emphasize my anger at the fact that the game has completely disregarded my depth charts and game plans thus far. I am positive that I do not have "scouts handle everything".
I had Bulger playing at a '2' and Faulk at a '1'. I wanted Aeneas to rest and be inactive and that didn't happen.
On to the worst football I have ever been a part of in Front Office, ever.
Granted it was a pre-season game and I don't put too much into this. My starters were beaten (badly) by some guys I have never heard of....
It all started with Buffalo driving right down the field with a nice mix of run and pass and settle for a Ryan Lindell 41-yd FG.
BUF 3-0
Our next drive we have a nice 3rd down conversion called back by a hold (this will become a recurring theme throughout) and then a Holt drop. Punt (and a bad one).
The Bills come right down the field again. Little picks up a sack but on 3rd-and-13, their starter for this game, Gilmore scrambles for 13 yards and a first!
-----END Q1- BUF 3-0
Stats: STL (BUF)
1st downs: 1 (8)
pass yards: 11 (63)
rush yards: 0 (48)
total yards: 11 (111)
Pretty nasty!
They start the 2nd quarter with an immediate Lindell boot from 29 yards.
Then the madness begins. We pick up another nice gain on 3rd down and its called back for a penalty. Another incomplete pass followed by Mr. Bulger's 5th pre-season INT (Nate Clements).
2 plays later - 76 yard touchdown pass to Bobby Shaw! 2 point conversion is good!
BUF 14-0
Another false start penalty followed by Bulger's 6th INT (Clements again).
The Bills come right down the field with their 3rd string QB and he (Zordich) hits Reed for a 1-yard TD.
21-0 BUF
ONE MORE TIME - we get a nice pickup, 21 yards to McDonald. A delay of game penalty brings that one back.
Then, get this. It's 3rd-and-10 and we stop him a yard short of the line. Guess what?!?! PENALTY on St. Louis, offside. Brings up 3rd-and-5, no big deal...oh wait, 5-yard scramble - FIRST DOWN.
I am about to lose it, Im not going to lie to you.
Before half we had another impressive drive that consisted of 2 incompletions and a drop by Antwaan Randle El drop. Just pathetic.
I dont really even want to go through the rest of the game. All you need to know is that Bulget threw ANOTHER interception, this time to Posey. WOW.
In Bulger's defense (not to say he didn't play like complete ass, because he did), he was hurried, pressured and sacked all day long. The Bills unraveled our supposedly strong offensive line. Bulger is playing like horse crap and right now doesnt even deserve to start. That Warner trade is looking stupider and stupider as we go along.
Here is his line:

Pre-season game two: vs. Kansas City Chiefs
http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/kansascity-helmet.gif vs. http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/rammer.gif
Fittingly the first play of the game was a false start penalty against us. Then Shaun McDonald dropped a pass and we had a bad punt. Great start.
Our defense held Trent Green, Priest Holmes and company in check on their opening drive.
On our next possession we moved the ball very nicely and for the first time this whole pre-season we found a way to get the ball into the end-zone on a 5-yard TD run by Arlen Harris. Adam Timmerman had 2 key run blocks on the drive.
7-0 Rams
On the Chiefs following possession, rookie Pisa Tinoisamoa came up big with a tackle one on play and he defensed the next two passes! Great to see him making an impact.
We went three-and-out and the first quarter ended with KC threatening...
END OF 1st QUARTER ------------- 7-0 Rams
Stats : STL (KC)
1st downs: 3 (4)
Pass yards: 37 (47)
Rush yards: 34 (12)
Total yards: 71 (65)
----------------------------------------------------
Just about four minutes in the Chiefs completed a nice drive with Priest Holmes scoring from 5 yards to tie the game at 7.
7-7 tie
We went 3-and-out. Our defense comes up with a stop and of course on the punt we are called for roughing the kicker. 1st down KC. They got another 3rd-down conversion and we had an offsides penalty. The penalties are getting out of hand. Their drive was cut short when Fred Weary picked off Trent Green.
We got all the way to the KC 9 before the drive finds a way to come up empty. We had a false start and two sacks (both sacks had offensive holding penalties too but were declined). Then to add the insult to injury, Wilkins misses the 35 yard attempt.
HALTIME----------- 7-7 tie
Stats: STL (TB)
1st downs: 10 (8)
Pass yards: 129 (100)
Rush yards: 86 (34)
Total yards: 213 (134)
A good first half but we should have the lead. 213 yards of total offense is nice to see. CJ Grimley played well in the 2nd quarter.
Need to cut down on the costly penalties though.
-------------------------------------------
The 2nd half started with Kansas City backup QB Todd Collins throwing and interception to rookie Shane Walton. The ball was returned to the KC 17. I was just thinking how we could screw this one up. 3 incompletes and a false start, thats how. Wilkins booted 39 yarder and put us up by three.
10-7 Rams
On the Chiefs next drive they completed a 35-yard pass (Collins to Holmes) but didnt score anything.
Another nice drive by us capped by a CJ Grimley to Torry Holt 17-yard strike! Grimley continues to impress.
17-7 Rams
The Chiefs added a FG just before the 3rd quarter ended. A 33-yarder by ageless Morten Anderson was set up by a 29-yard run by the Priest. He's a good one.
17-10 Rams
End of 3rd Quarter---------
Stats: STL (TB)
1st downs: 15 (12)
Pass yards: 195 (155)
Rush yards: 102 (79)
Total yards: 297 (234)
----------------------------------------------
In the final quarter we played well with three sustained drives to milk the clock. We added a Jeffrey Wilkins field goal of 41 yards.
20-10 Rams
And another of 34 yards.
23-10 Rams
The Chiefs added a touchdown as Priest Holmes caught a one yard TD pass from Todd Collins to make it look very close.
Final score: Rams 23, Chiefs 17.
MVP: QB CJ Grimley (STL)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damn it is nice to win a football game. We end the pre-season 1-3 and look forward to the New York Giants in week one! The real season is starting which means its time to really start getting to work on a game plan. We have a tough test in week one going to New York to play a solid Giants team. It looks as though we will be without starting LB Robert Thomas who is healing really slowly with that torn cartilage. He has two weeks to full recovery, maybe longer. Considering that is our only major injury (knocks on wood) we got out pretty good.
The next few days will be routing through game logs and box scores to find that X-factor and hopefully utilize it in the game. We also need to make some personell decisions and cut this roster down to 53 players. I will post as soon as we make our decisions.
Marc Bulger didn't have a good pre-season. We NEED him to play better. CJ Grimley was very impressive in relief.
We are committing too many penalties, I dont know how to change this but it has to if we want to be successful this year.
Marshall Faulk did nearly nothing in the pre-season but just you wait.
BRING ON THE eNFL REGULAR SEASON!!!
More to come and thanks for reading...

I didn't really want to post my final cuts until after the release of the stage file but I don't see any harm.
These aren't 100% final either. If I make any changes I will update. They are about 97.9% though!
Here we go...
1. FB Brett Whitman
It came down to him and Ayanbadejo. We just feel like we are better off with Obafemi. It would not surprise me if Whitman catches on somewhere. He is an above average runner already but we needed the blocking that he doesn't provide.
2. TE Brandon Manumaleuna
This is a hard cut to make. This one came down to him and 7th round pick Richard Angulo. We went with Angulo. Both have good leadership but Angulos volatility is higher and he is obviously younger. We save some money this way too.
3. WR Kevin Curtis
Nobody likes to cut a 3rd round pick the same year he was drafted but Curtis just hasn't shown us anything and we have to get rid of him. Looker out performed him and when we gave him a shot to make it as a kick-returner he again did nothing.
4. RG Andy King
This guy was the first one cut. He knew it was coming. Everybody knew it was coming.
5. DT Ryan Pickett
This is another hard one to swallow but we have to do it. Pickett is a former first round pick. He just isnt progressing at all. He is going to be inactive anyway and we are deep at defensive tackle. Also, he isnt pulling the weight that his $1.2m contract demands of him. Great run defense potential. He will be signed somewhere.
6. OLB Scott Shanle
Another guy that had no shot at making the active roster.
7. S Erik Haldar
This one came down to Haldar and another just signed special teams guy Wade Wright. We went with Haldar just because Wright had more potential to actually play the position. I hate cutting guys I just signed but we had to do at least one. He was going to be inactive all year anyway.
Those are the cuts.
Time to get down and dirty preparing for the New York Giants tomorrow!
More to come, thanks for reading...

The cuts are made, the game plans completed and the stage file sent in...the eNFL is counting down until kickoff! 10 PM ET tonight the Rams and Giants will do battle.
The Steelers GM (and others helping out) have came up with a pretty sweet eNFL newspaper which can be found here (http://www.geocities.com/cbjfan22/). Just another reason why the eNFL is so sweet!!!
We are predicted to take home the NFC only to lose in a Super Bowl rematch to the Tennessee Titans! We'll see about that.
I will update right after the game tonight!
Go Rams!

Game One: at New York Giants
http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/nygiants-helmet.gif vs. http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/rammer.gif
You know, its funny I just had a really sick feeling coming into this game that they would do something right away and sure enough the special teams lets them return the opening kickoff!!
7-0 Giants
We got the ball back and on Marshall Faulk's first carry of 2003, he picks up a solid eight yards. Bulger got started the right way finding Holt for 12 on 3rd-and-2. He fould "Big game" Torry Holt two more times on the drive which culminated in a Jeff Wilkins 38-yard field goal.
7-3 Giants
The Giants first offensive drive started out really bad. Collins to Shiancoe? for 24-yards and then encroachment and illegal contact penalties hurt big time (I thought we may have gotten that out of our systems in the pre-season, guess not). Our defense did come up big in the long run as Jimmy Kennedy and Grant Wistrom each picked up sacks (both for losses of eight) and forced a punt.
We went 3-and-out and to end the first quarter of play Collins finds Tim Carter (who had a great day) for 10 yards on 3rd-and-10.
END OF 1st QUARTER ------------- 7-3 Giants
Stats : STL (NYG)
1st downs: 2 (7)
Pass yards: 33 (68)
Rush yards: 16 (29)
Total yards: 49 (97)
---------------------------------------------------
A huge play by Grant Wistrom on 3rd-and-1 to stop Tiki Barber short and force a punt seemingly woke us up. We had nice drive before we stalled and punted (touchback).
The defense came up big again as rookie Pisa Tinoisamoa hit and wrapped up Barber for a loss of 2 and then Wistrom picked up his 2nd sack of the game, forcing a Giant punt.
We punted again and immediately Collins found that Carter guy for 49 yards! Then on 3rd-and-goal from our 9, they complete a 9-yard scoring strike to Amani Toomer! A dagger in our hearts.
14-3 Giants
Going into what would be our final drive of the 1st half, we knew we had to put something on the board and get the ball back. Bulger stepped up to the challenge and found Faulk twice for 14 and 11 yards, then Randle El for 29 to the Giant 10! Then came the huge 3rd-and-4 from the Giants four yard line and Faulk muscled his way in for the score! Timmerman had his 2nd key block on it.
14-10 Giants
That took us to halftime.
HALTIME----------- 14-10 Giants
Stats: STL (NYG)
1st downs: 8 (10)
Pass yards: 95 (134)
Rush yards: 39 (53)
Total yards: 134 (187)
It was nice to score there at the end and make it a four point game getting the ball in the second half. How nice would it of been if our special teams didnt give up that opening return!?!
-----------------------------------
The 2nd half started out right with Marshall Faulk picking up 10 yards on the first play. Backup Arlen Harris got a 10-yard carry on the play after that and we are on the move. On 3rd-and-7 Bulger found Faulk who broke loose for 18 yards. And we have another key 3rd down on the New York 3 yard line. Bulger finds Faulk who gets in! Nice, 17-14 lead...oh wait, of course something goes wrong. Jeff Wilkins misses the extra point. Wow.
16-14 Rams
Things are completely going our way as the Giants commit a holding and a false start penalty to start with a 1st-and-25 from their own five. Barber gives them some breathing room but on third down he fumbles and Fred Weary picks it up! Our ball on their 21!
Bulger proceeds to even out his TD/INT ratio when he finds S Shaun Williams in the back of their end zone for the costly INT. We just give the momentum right back.
Both teams go 3 and out. A nice sustained drive has them knocking on the door to end the 3rd quarter.
End of 3rd Quarter--------------16-14 Rams
Stats: STL (NYG)
1st downs: 13 (13)
Pass yards: 132 (177)
Rush yards: 79 (99)
Total yards: 211 (276)
----------------------------------------------
They knocked the door in on a Barber 1-yard run.
21-16 Giants
We are still very much in the game at this point and a nice drive would cure all worries. Bulger and Faulk provide just that after a nice kickoff return by Harris. A 3rd-down completion to Cleeland keeps the drive alive and Faulk rumbles for 18 yards. Another Faulk 14 yard run was too good to be true as we illegally shifted and the play was called back. We call on Jeff Wilkins (mister missed EP) to get us within 2. The 40-yarder is no good!
The Giants have a nice long drive and we use all of our timeouts. Our last hope was that we could stop them on a 3rd and 9 from our 18 but Collins got it to Barber for 11. That was it. They of course threw salt in our wound by scoring another touchdown (Collins to Carter again - 6 yard TD).
Final score: Giants 28, Rams 16
MVP: QB Kerry Collins (NYG)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All of my thoughts and stat totals are coming tomorrow. Im disappointed we couldn't come away with a win but the Giants are a tough team and we played pretty well for the most part.

Wow, bad luck there. Offense looked quite good, defense iffy, and special teams horrible. Hopefully you'll be back in the saddle next game.

Here are the recaps of the other eNFL games in week one:
Recaps:
In the marquee matchup of the week, the rematch of last year's NFC Championship, Philadelphia opened their new stadium with a 37-14 win. Donovan McNabb went 24-31 for 250 yards and 2 TD, and ran for another 84 yards and a score.
Tennessee took out the defending AFC champion in convincing fashion, 23-7. Steve McNair threw for a buck-seventy-nine and a TD, and ran for another 32 and a score as well.
New York got solid performances from their players, as they took down the Rams at home, 28-16. Tiki Barber had a solid 117 yards on the ground, and Kerry Collins contributed another 237 yards in the air.
Four touchdowns couldn't cover up Peyton Manning's 3 interceptions, as the Colts lost to the Browns, 33-28. William Green was the star of the game, going 19-for-139, and earning both a rushing and receiving touchdown in the process.
Elsewhere in the league:
Rookie undrafted QB C.J. Knowlton outdueled slightly higher-drafted Joey Harrington, as the Cardinals win, 17-6.
The Dallas defense held Michael Vick to 151 yards total offense in a 25-17 win.
Kurt Warner showed flashes of his old self in the Steeler's 24-14 victory over the Ravens. Jerome Bettis also contributed 148 yards on the ground over 17 carries.
It didn't take even two minutes of overtime in San Fran to break a 20-20 tie, as Garcia hits Owens to beat the Bears. That was one of two TD catches on the day for Owens.
Despite only 45 yards of ground offense, the Bengals beat the Broncos, 23-20. A Mike Hollis 51 yard field goal with no time left were the deciding points.
Behind 117 yards rushing by Ricky Williams and 4 Olindo Mare field goals, the Dolphins easily dispatch the Texans, 19-3.
It took 14 unanswered points for the Jaguars to defeat the Panthers on the road, 14-13.
Brett Favre continues to put up quality numbers. He goes 23 for 33, 308 yards, 3 TDs, and no picks in Green Bay's 27-14 victory over Minnesota.
A Tom Brady to Antowain Smith 21 yard TD pass with 35 seconds left in the game gives Brady a "4Q Comeback" point, and a 28-27 victory over the Bills.
Craziest play of the day belongs to Jets' backup DE Matt Walters. With 1:10 left in the game, and his team down 24-21, the special teams player blocked Bryan Barker's punt. Jason Ferguson picked it up, and took it to the house for the deciding score. Jets win, 28-24.
Deuce McAllister had 27 of his 112 yards at an opportune time. He scored the winning touchdown with 32 seconds left in the game, and the Saints downed Seattle, 24-20.
Trent Green and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs had a relatively easy time in San Diego, winning by a total of 33-17.

Going deeper into our week one defeat...
Again, a disappointing loss but we played well for the most part.
Let's take a closer look.
Team Statistics STL NYK
Total Rushes 24 37
Rushing Yards 103 122
Yards Per Carry 4.2 3.2
>>> Both teams ran the ball well and I wish we ran it more. We had a 4.2 YPC to their 3.2 but they were in the position to do it more and Tiki did a nice job. Im kind of confused as to why Arlen Harris got so many carrries. We will touch on that later.
Pass Attempts 36 22
Completions 20 18
Passing Yards 204 237
Yards Per Attempt 5.6 10.7
>>> Kerry Collins just did us in. Our secondary has to improve as the season progresses. He is the highest rated passer in the league after this game. Our 5.6 YPA is pretty low from what I expect.
Sacked 0 3
Yards Lost 0 23
Interceptions 1 0
Fumbles/Lost 0/0 1/1
>>> I didnt realize how much we dominated this part of the game. Little/Wistrom, Wistrom alone and Tinoisamoa all picked up sacks and our o-line did a great job protecting Bulger. He was pressured a lot and that one interception was very costly deep in NYG territory.
Total Plays 60 59
Total Yards 307 359
Yards Per Play 5.1 6.0
>>> Pretty evenly matched here. Not bad but our defense can't keep giving up 350+ yards of total offense.
3rd Down Plays 5/14 8/13
Avg. YTG on 3rd 6.2 6.8
4th Down Plays 1/2 0/0
>>> This was a key to the game, they were awesome on 3rd down especially late in the game and that is big. Credit to them.
Penalties 4 9
Penalty Yards 20 50
>>> I complain about how many penalties we get but 4 for 20 yards isnt bad. It's all about when you get them. I am happy to see this though.
[/code]
Rushing Att Yards Avg Long TD
28 Faulk 15 81 5.4 18 1
33 Harris 9 22 2.4 10 0
>>> Faulk only getting 15 carries is a travesty. I need to take a look at my game plan/depth chart and make sure this doesnt happen again. Harris got too many carries and only had one good run (10 yards). With Faulks average and 20 carries (which is my goal for EVERY game) he would've racked up a solid 108.
Passing Att Comp Yards Yd/Att Long TD Int Sckd
10 Bulger 36 20 204 5.6 29 1 1 0
>>> Not very good. His passer rating was a weak 69.6.
For fun, at the end of all of these reports I will post a "Bulger v. Warner" comparison. Needless to say, Kurt is winning this one (he had a good day).
Receiving Catch Yards Avg YAC Long TD

47 Comella 3 9 3.0 2 3 0
88 Randle El 1 29 29.0 7 29 0
>>> Faulk did well and Holt came up with some big plays but Bruce and Randle El combined for 4 catches. Most of Bulgers incompletions were directed to Bruce (not sure if that means anything).

22 Fisher 1 0 0.0 0 0 0
21 Garrett 1 0 0.0 0 0 0
>>> Im very happy with Jaime Duncan who was only starting because of the injury to Robert Thomas. Grant Wistrom played exceptional and the rookies Kennedy and Tinoisamoa did well also. Our secondary did next to nothing except for Aeneas Williams stripping the ball once.
Offensive Line notes: NO sacks allowed :). Timmerman and Wholabaugh both had 3 key run blocks, Cleeland had one as well.
OFFENSIVE GAME BALL: RB Marshall Faulk - 15 carries for 81 yards and 1 TD. 5 receptions for 56 yards and another score.
DEFENSIVE GAME BALL: DE Grant Wistrom - 9 tackles, 1 assist and 1.5 sacks!
Bulger vs. Warner This will be a weekly thing. Keep in mind we want Kurt to do well so we can pick up a 1st round pick in the upcoming draft. I dont expect Bulger to do better than Warner and if he is going to he has quite a hole to climb out of...

A huge divisional game with a very strong San Francisco team. Here we go, home opener in front of our great fans!
Game Two: vs San Francisco 49ers (1-0)
http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/sanfrancisco-helmet.gif vs. http://www.angelfire.com/oz/enfl/images/rammer.gif
Well, here we go again. At least they cant return the opening kickoff and score because we are receiving the ball. So we find another way to give it to them. Arlen Harris only gets 7 yards before he coughs it up and they return it!!!! UNREAL!?!?!
7-0 Niners
On our next drive you can only guess what happens, two offensive holding penalties stalls a pretty decent looking drive. Landeta punts it out at their one yard line. :)
Naturally we just let them off the hook as Hearst goes 10 yards on the first play. Their drive stalls and they punt.
On our next drive, Faulk runs for a nice 12 yards and Bulger finds Holt for 15 more and things are looking good. He then finds Torry for a 15 yard TD!
7-7 Tie
San Fran has a nice drive again with a nice mix of run and pass. The defense holds them to a field goal and the quarter ends with us punting after a three-and-out.
10-7 Niners
END OF 1st QUARTER ------------- 10-7 Niners
Stats : STL (SF)
1st downs: 5 (4)
Pass yards: 87 (29)
Rush yards: 27 (51)
Total yards: 114 (80)
Again the Special teams is putting us in a hole too damn early. The offense is looking good and the defense is just looking to keep us in it against a potent offense.
---------------------------------------------------
Another solid drive by the Niners and our D stops them short on a 3rd and 8. Of course they fumble the ball and THEY pick it up and run 11 yards with it for the first. It just may be one of those years. :(
Pochman kicked a 32 yarder to widen the gap.
13-7 Niners
On our next drive we are finally starting to rely a lot on Faulk, which is what we are going to need to do to be successful. We give it to him 4 times and he provides a couple of first downs. I guess in the time that Marc was handing the ball off to Marshall he forgot how to throw a pass because his next pass was intercepted by Zack Bronson. Bulgers running TD to INT ratio=2:2.
At this point I am so frusterated with our 3rd down defense. We are letting up way to many conversions this game. That is a killer stat we will need to check out after the game. That and bonehead penalties. Anyways, Tai Streets ran it in from the 4.
20-7 Niners
We go three-and-out (Holt drop, Holt 2-yd rec., Bulger overthrows Bruce). They run one play and we go into halftime down.
HALTIME----------- 20-7 Niners
Stats: STL (SF)
1st downs: 7 (11)
Pass yards: 103 (120)
Rush yards: 37 (73)
Total yards: 140 (193)
This team needs to figure this out, quick! They are having way too much success running the ball and they are just beatin the crap out of us right now. This could get ugly. Stay tuned.
-----------------------------------
Tai Streets makes a 45 yard reception and they settle for a Pochman 31-yard FG. This is not good.
23-7 Niners
We take over and go for it on 4th-and-2 at our own 42. The pass was blocked. Damn! I kinda like the call though, gotta try SOMETHING!
They move the ball and Garcia finds Owens for a 16-yard strike! This is getting ugly, at home, divisional game.
30-7 Niners
Just as things are getting out of hand, on our first play of the next drive Bulger hits Holt on a crossing pattern and he races 80 yards for a score!!! Im going to put Bulgers running total in parentheses from now on after he does something, so (3:2).
30-14 Niners
The special teams makes a nice play, stopping them inside the 20 (just the 19) and the defense stops them. We get the ball and get a 3rd down conversion but its called back for an illegal formation! I can't really complain too much, they have had like 6 or 7 false starts this game.
The 3rd ends with a SF punt and slim hope...
End of 3rd Quarter--------------30-14 Niners
Stats: STL (SF)
1st downs: 9 (15)
Pass yards: 198 (223)
Rush yards: 53 (115)
Total yards: 251 (338)
Makes ya wonder, where are the defenses?!? Also makes you wonder if I should lose my job already
----------------------------------------------
We get a nice 3rd down completion (Bulger to Bruce 10 yards) and then he finds Marshall for 24 yards to the SF 4. We need to pound this one in. We don't and settle for a FG. Im glad we took the points though, now its a 2 TD game.
Garcia (he's good) hit Owens (he's good too) for 24 yards and we are just going through the motions on defense. You can pretty much bag this one. Well on our way to 0-2. They stall and punt.
On our next drive, we absolutely have to score a touchdown. Bulger is inconsistent but he seems to get first downs when we need them and Marshall is amazing. It wasn't Marshall that did the deed though, Arlen Harris scored on 30 yard run!!!! He has been more than impressive and Im starting to like the idea of him getting his share of carries to throw the other teams off. Timmerman with the key block. This game is not over!
30-24 Niners
We NEED to stop them and come back down. How huge would that be?
3rd and 7, Garcia scrambles but only got 6, Archuleta with a HUGE stop! Punt downed at our 22. Here we go.
This is where we find out what we are made of.
3:11 on the clock. 78 yards to go.
First play, 18 yards to Bruce.
Second play, 11 yards to Randle El.
- for you math majors we are on their 49.
2:09 left.
It's now 3rd and 10 and a huge 11 yard completion to Bruce! Bulgers 3rd down completion % is great! Keeps the hope alive.
Next play, Bulger to Holt 13 yards! .... FUMBLE!!!!!
Comella jumped on it! WHEW!
Still a long way to go, 25 yards.
A 7 yard pick up and a time out.
Then it happened.

BULGER TO HOLT - 18 YARD TD!!!!! TIE GAME!!!! (4:2)
> Holts 3rd TD of the game and I was just waiting for it to say penalty or something. This was too good to be true. Then I looked at the clock and realized they still have a minute to get a FG and win. Wilkins hit the all important extra point and we are winning.
31-30 Rams
Now we have set ourselves up for a major disappointment if we dont complete this comeback with a defensive stop...
First play, incomplete (Little hurried him).
Second play, Garcia (again, really good) to Owens (again, really good) 16 yards.
Garcia scrambled for 3 yards and they used their 2nd time out with 30 seconds.
Incomplete (Little another hurry).
Third and 7 at SF 39 and :16 left.
Garcia to Owens - 16 yards. Last time out.
Last play, here we go.
....
.
.
Incomplete! Lewis hurried him! We win! What a game that was!
Final score: Rams 31, 49ers 30
MVP: WR Torry Holt (STL)
-----------------------------------------------------
Torry was awesome and instrumental in the comeback. I am very proud of Marc Bulger as well. He manages to throw three TD's to one INT and came up with some game saving third down completions! He came of age today. I have so much to talk about but it's late and I work tomorrow. I will be sure to break stuff down and get you the eNFL news tomorrow! Great win!!!!

Other happenings around week 2 in the eNFL...
Transaction of the Week:
Nothing worth mentioning.
Injury of the Week:
This week's winner is the clavicle. Tim Dwight, starting WR for the Chargers, suffers a Broken Clavicle, and is out for almost two months. The Titans' star LB, Keith Bulluck, also breaks his clavicle, but is projected to be back in two weeks less time.
RECAPS-----
The Kurt Warner era in Pittsburgh continues in earnest. Warner passed for 231 yards, and hit three different receivers for touchdowns. PIT 24 - KC 13
A battle of defenses in Philadelphia, with the Patriots edging Philly, 10-9. New England's Ted Washington won MVP honors, since his 7 tackles and 3 sacks helped contain a potent Philadelphia offense.
There are eFantasy players somewhere in ecstasy over Edgerrin James' performance against the Titans. He ran for 224 yards, and scored twice as the Colts held on to win, 30-20.
Jacksonville's Fred Taylor had an very nice day against the Bills, gaining 97 yards on the ground, 78 yards in the air, and two touchdowns. A late Donovan Darius INT return clinched the victory for the upstart Jaguars, 28-18.
Brett Favre passed for 3 TDs and 230 yards, as Green Bay wins in Lambeau, 31-14, over the Lions.
Marc Bulger proved that St. Louis' decision to trade Kurt Warner may not have been a mistake. He rallied his team back from a 30-7 hole with under 20 minutes left in the game to steal a win from division rival San Francisco, 31-30. Torry Holt may have had something to do with it as well, catching 199 yards as well as 3 TDs.
Tiki Barber had practically the same game as last week, notching 115 yards and a TD. This complement's Kerry Collins' 221 yard, 2 TD day as New York takes care of Dallas, 24-7.
David Boston is turning out to be a good acquisition for the Chargers in this universe. He goes for 132 yards and a score, as the Chargers take the measure of Denver at home, 29-14. Shannon Sharpe had 2 TD catches of his own in the loss, a mere 2:17 apart.
Rich Gannon passed for 326 yards, 186 to Tim Brown, and 2 scores as Oakland beats Cincinnati at home, 23-17.
Wait, this can't be right. Arizona is now 2-0! Jeff blake passed for 249 yards, and Quentin Harris returns a pick 94 yards for a score in the 24-6 dismantling of Seattle.
The defending champions have come out of the gate a bit slow this year, falling at Carolina to start 0-2. John Kasay's 38 yard field goal with no time on the clock gave the Panthers a slim 27-24 win.
Miami - New Jersey turned into a game of rushing and special teams, as both teams could only muster 212 yards in the air combined. In the end, Santana Moss's punt return TD and Wayne Chrebet's 101 yards receiving (out of a total 129 yards of NJ air attack) gave the Jets a 17-9 win.
Speaking of special teams, New Orleans' 5 John Carney field goals was all the Saints could muster against the Texans. Thankfully, the Saints D only gave up 10 points, and New Orleans takes the 15-10 victory. The Saint's Darren Howard led the defense with 4.5 sacks of David Carr.
Neither team was incredibly sharp, but the Ravens eventually beat the Browns in OT, 26-20. Jamal Lewis may get the money, but Musa Smith got 50 yards on 9 carries, including the clinching 1 yard TD run.
Michael Vick suddenly turned into a pocket passer (only 4 yards on 2 carries), but he threw for 270 yards and a score in the Falcons' 25-17 victory over the Redskins. The Falcons' Jay Feely kicked 4 FG in the win, but oddly missed his final extra point.
Chicago racked up 14 quick first-quarter points, but the game became the Vikings' in the final 45 minutes. Onterrio Smith's 131 yards helped Minnesota overcome the early deficit, and the Vikings win at home, 20-14.
Much more to come...

Here is the Bulger/Warner comparison...

This is a very sad day for me. I would have never anticipated this happening when I first posted over at FOFC about getting together a real teams/real players multi-player league, but today I am going to resign from my post at GM of the St. Louis Rams.
To be honest with you this has nothing to do with the dreadful 1-3 start, in fact, I had an idea that this team was going to start that way but more to do with my "real" life.
I play baseball at a division II school and we are starting up soon. I have a girlfriend (who takes up a lot of time) and a ton of studying to do. I don't feel like I would be dedicating enough time to this WONDERFUL league. You guys are going to have a great time with this and I will be following from afar. The past two weeks I scrambled just to get my file in and havent even looked at how the other teams were doing. I just feel like the league would be better off with a guy that can dedicate more time to it.
To Tredwel, you did an amazing job getting this together and I hope it continues in a great fashion.
Thanks for the time and I wish you all the best of luck.

Thanks for reading...
I may start a new franchise in the future and do a report when I can go at my own pace. I felt burdened at times and I have too much going on.

That is a shame. Best of luck in all your endeavors.

That is very sad Mark. I can only agree that the last weeks have been a struggle to keep up. Now I will never get my revenge.
I hope we can find a spot for you if you ever change your mind.
Happy New Year to you and your family I wish you all the best.
