Some D IV squad named divergence with attack ratings like supernatural and titanic. Well, I just shut out a good team on the road tonight, so I guess I still have a chance, at least I'm finally at home.

Theoretically I have a chance if I PIC league match as I should easily get formidable MF for cup again being home if I PIC league match and normal in the cup, barring form after training.

Got another Div IV team who puts up an 80 NSI. When I'm in decent form I put up an 80 NSI. I'm in crappy form right now. We'll see what happens this week. I am also praying for a good form week. I've got a tough league match on Sunday and a tough Cup match on Wednesday. Both games are winnable. I just need FORM! :) :O

I'm liking the profits of a 3rd home cup game, though I'm surprised I even made it to round 4. Took a MOTS and penalty kicks to make it that far.

Yeah, I lived on borrowed time in last year's cup run...three consecutive victories by either a golden goal or a goal in the last 3 minutes of a game (sadly, one was over a BOT team :eek: ). So I guess this is payback. Still can't believe I didn't get ONE goal :mad:.

Edit: To include my cup run last year...

Round 2 of the cup, vs. the Alabama Gurus. I PIC-ed with reserves in.

11 minutes in, they score. Half time comes, I've got possession 66%, but they're still up 1-0. I have 0 chances. 3 minutes into the second half, they score AGAIN, and I'm down 2-0 and freaking out. Also getting chewed out in IRC chat for losing to a bot :)

Finally, my forward gets a long shot special event, and I'm only down 1-2...and then in the 74th minutes, my team manages another goal, I've tied it up 2-2 and my sanity is slightly returned. Then the 81st minute happened...

"Vandals took the lead after 81 minutes with 2 - 3. Paul-Arnaud Gaudreault placed the ball out of reach for the home sides keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Alabama´s Erick Cain was able to shove the ball in. 3-3. 81 minutes into the game Chad Cahill was a hair´s breadth away from giving Vandals the lead. A prompt block by Nolan Ellison saved the home team that time."

So now not only am I getting chewed out in IRC chat for almost losing to a bot, I'm getting chewed our for almost losing to a bot that came from behind to win! We go to extra time, noting that I had 86% possession. Four minutes into OT, one of my midfielders scores the golden goal, and I can finally relax.

And that was just the first one...

Round three of the cup, my first home cup match. I play the Asheville Demons, a team that should by all means outclass me. I should take my PIC and go home, right? Of course not...I foolishly decide to abandon team spirit to try to get one more home Cup Match...at least I didn't MOTs, right?

Early on, it looks like a great idea, as I jump out to a 2-0 lead. But after a quick response, it's 2-1 at half. In some of the busiest 15 minutes of soccer ever in the beginning of the second half, the Demons score two quick goals to jump out to a 3-2 lead, but we aren't to be outdone, as we add 2 quick goals of our own, 4-3 Vandals. In the 69th minute, they level at 4-4...and that's the last update before the end of regulation. Overtime begins...and star striker Giel Rijnders finds the back of the onion bag to win the game with a 94th minute golden goal! The Vandals are going to round 4 of the cup.

Where we face Pegasus, another fantastically better team than ourselves from D.IV. Well, ready to concede defeat, I set up my reserves and put the PIC order in. However, at 00:44:30 HT time, I decide that I should put in my starters and MOTs. Great idea, especially with the series leader a scant two games away...

Well, at halftime, down 0-2 and winning possession by a mere 53%, I'm kicking myself for that decision. However, the cardiac Vandals are not through yet...and in a 4 minute flurry of action (52nd to 56th minute), my boys tie it up 2-2! Jubilation ensues in the Vandal owner's apartment, to the dismay of SWMBO. Then, in the ensuing minutes, both teams managed to fail to convert on scoring chances. With the game clock dwindling, and resigning myself to overtime yet AGAIN...Raymond Hyatt, relative unknown, bags a goal in the 88th minute, and the Vandals make it out of round 4 3-2. I was completely amazed...

And not that anyone wanted to hear that, but those were three of the greatest Wednesdays of my life :)

I lost to them 2 seasons ago. They were in Div II at the time (not to be confused with the other high division team called The Minute Men).

all you ppl complaining, 19 D III teams (and 1 D II) were eliminated last round, some by D VI teams... so they arent untouchable. most of them dont take the cup to serious.

my matchup is some easy div V team :P
