Out of these two running backs, who would you pick for league MVP?

Christopher Brown
Rushing
271 attempts
1,528 yards
5.6 ypc
10td

Recieving
47 catches
391 yards
3 touchdowns

Or

Dusty McGee
Rushing
365 attempts
1,333 yards
3.6 ypc
9 touchdowns

Receiving
63 catches
490 yards
4 touchdowns

I am asking because McGee won the award in my franchise and IMO he didn't deserve it.

Depends on how the teams did during the regular season.

Both were 12-4 and lost in the second round of the playoffs.

Well McGee was a more valuable receiver, so as a bit more of a double threat, he does seem a little more valuable to me.

But only a little.

Since the team records were even, I would say Brown based off of YPC. McGee seems like an average runner who was just force-fed the ball a lot. That does lead me to believe that McGee was his teams only offensive threat, however, and if that is indeed that case, then I would change my vote to McGee.

welll, I think Brown was more productive overall, but McGee seems to be his whole team

Brown: 318 touches for 1919 yards and 13 TD's. 6.03 Yards per touch.

McGee: 428 touches for 1823 yards and 13 TD's. 4.25 yards per touch.

I would say Brown did more with the ball than McGee did, but he got the ball under 20 times per game. I don't think you can be the MVP if you touch it less than 20 times per game.

I picked McGee just to chap your hide. :)

I call it a toss-up. Neither is really more deserving than the other, IMO.

dola,

Would other stats devalue Brown? How many times did he fumble? Did he drop a lot of passes? Was McGhee used for Punt or Kick returns? Special teams tackles?

Maybe McGee played for the Yankees, oops, wrong sport.

Toss up IMO as well. McGee looks like he was the entire show for his team. That means something in an MVP vote.

Christopher Brown
19 KR for 160 yards
0 dropped passes
182 yac
357 pass plays
16.5 total percent of passe were directed at him

Dusty McGee
2 dropped passes
189 yac
386 pass plays
23.3 total percent of pass plays were directed at him

I also noticed that McGee's teamate QB Lee Stevens is one of the best QB's in the game rated 77/80. All of the receivers on his team were rated between 49 and 55. McGee is rated a 46 while Brown is a 76.

Brown played on a team where the starting QB was rated a 38, but they had a great TE and a very good receiver.

PURELY based on stats, the edge would go to Brown, but like Troy said, McGee looks to be more important to his team than Brown to his.

The context doesn't make up for two hundred yards rushing and two yards-per-carry.

Mcgee looks like a slightly above average player who just got the ball a lot. One thing that I'd like to see is what their lines look like, though. I think that's a bigger factor than the QB.

McGee is more valuable to his team. I think it is close enough that I wouldn't sweat it as a bug or needed tweak necessarily. Awards are an area of the game where it is pretty difficult to satisfy everyone when there isn't a head-and-shoulders winner (which mirrors real life...)

GoSeahawks,

The ratings of the QB or other WR don't matter to me as much as their "numbers."

Which offense was better? As oykib said, who had the better O-Line. Was McGee's team involved in a lot of close games where he was the difference?

Either way, all of this aside, I can't see this as an AI fault. It's not as cut and dry as it first appears. This could easilly be like comparing the 2000 version of Eddie George to the 2000 version of Mike Anderson. Anderson had better numbers, George was a hell of a lot more important to his team.

I would have voted for Albert Pujols

Steve McNair.

Seriously, I think these guys are a wash. I'd say either one is a legit contender, depending on who else was in the running.

Brown. Hands down! Better numbers with 90+ less carries. Solid numbers out of the backfield.
