Actually, it's my old draft file editor that is being released in a new version, v1.4 to be exact.

It's a stripped-down version of the 1.3 version, meaning it only functions with FOF2k4 draft files. FOF2k4 roster files are already editable with Lighthousekeeper's editor, and the backwards compatibility with FOF4, FOF2k1/2k2 and FOF2 has been removed. If you have a need for those functions, use the previous version.

I hope there aren't any bugs, since the previous version was pretty well tested. But anything you find, I hope to correct as quickly as I can.

Using TCY 1.2a CD to export draft files, I'm getting a RTE 53 File Not found error w/ the 1.4 editor. This was w/ a brand new career created tonight in TCY. Any thoughts? Thanks for any input you can provide.

The editor is dependent on a couple of files being in the same directory - hcnames.txt, hcnames.dll, cnames.dll, lnames.dll and fnames.dll. Any one of them missing could cause the error.

It looks like I have all the required files here.

Figured it out.... editor works just fine when I launch it from Windows Explorer. The error was only occuring before because I launched from a shortcut on the desktop. Thanks for the response, it helped trigger my memory. Great utility by the way!!

Good to see you got it to work. By the way, what was it you linked to at the FOBL? I couldn't access the page since I don't seem to be registered there anymore.

Does anyone still have the Draft Editor? Fido's site went down just as I was about to download it! Please e-mail me at:

Why? The way that you threw in "way to go" and then added an 'etc'. It probably wouldn't be funny if anyone else had posted it. I laughed out loud, just accept it.

http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/smile.gifFair enough. I just rarely get a laugh around here, even when I'm trying, so I was attempting to figure out what I'd done right that time. FWIW, if I recall, the "way to go" *WAS* actually an attempt at dry humor.

The link at top is working for me again. Fido must've done it just for me.

Anybody got this to work with the latest version of TCY and FOF?

I'm trying to edit .faf files with it, and I'm getting some strange results....

3ric, is this utility still available? I tried downloading from your link but it appears dead.

Try again, it could have been some temporary downtime at the server side. I tested it right now and it worked fine.

Just "found" this thread...I mean : this is the first time I read the entire thing.
So if I understand correctly, the previous version of the utility (1.3) would enable me -Mr FOF2- to edit or create a Draft file for FOF2 ???

Could anyone confirm ? If so...where can I find this 1.3 version ??
thanks a million.

I started toying around with the idea of making a 2006 draft file. When I enter an unusual name (Leinart, for example), I'm getting an error message -- a popup dialog box named "faf_reader" that reads, "Name not found in lnames.dll" Any ideas what the problem is?

Yabanci,

I think you have an old version of the editor or something because the dll files you refer to were for creating draft files for FOF 4. FOF 2004 does not require a dll file of all the player names. I'm not terribly familar with the editor because I use csv files for all my draft file creating.

I'm using the current version linked above, but after doing some research this seems to be a common problem: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/forums/showthread.php?t=34813&highlight=csv+draft+file

It looks like the best way around it is to copy the data into a csv and work with it in a spreadsheet.

There's a bug in the 1.4 version that has to do with how the program saves the first and last names. Everything else should be ok, but the names are best edited in a Excel spreadsheet (clicking in the top left corner of the editor sheet marks the whole thing, then just press Ctrl-C to copy it)

Anyone have the file? Neither link is working for me. I googled for "faf_Editor14.zip" and the only thing I got was this thread.

I have a question about editing a class.

I added FIU and FAU to the colleges.txt file but it still won't let me chang the FAMU guys to FIU or FAU.

Is there a fix?

Also, is there a way to change birthyears by a certain number rather than manually editing each one?

I'm getting the run time 53 error. All the files are in the editor folder and I used this 3 or 4 months ago without a problem. Any thoughts?
