FOF2K4 Free agency problem

I wouldnt call this a bug as much as i would call it a problem. I'm 4 seasons into my game with the 49ers and I've noticed that there are alot of really good free agents being released each year which isnt that big of a problem untill I started to look in depth and realized that 6 of the top 10 qb's in the league switched teams during free agency. I figured that maybe they were hurt or had bad seasons so I looked at their stats and i found this.

#1 talented QB Peyton Manning- started all 16 games with a 100.9 QB rating. Led his team to AFC championship, and was league MVP. Went from Colts to Browns.

# 2 talented QB Steve McNair- League MVP 2 years ago. This year he had a QB rating of 82.5. Team was 9-7 and made playoffs. Went from Tennessee to Pittsburgh.

#4 talented QB Matt Hasselbeck- Led Seatle to an 8-8 record, despite not having any sort of defense. The year before they were 10-6 and lost in the NFC championship. This year's stats 89.2 QB rating 3763 yds 22 tds. Went to division rival Rams and pissed me off beyond belief.

#8 talented QB Kerry Collins- Lowest QB rating since my game started was a 85.5 in the first year. Has had a QB rating of 92.5 and 87.9 the last two years on a great team with plenty of cap room. They currently have 13 million free. Went 14-2, 12-4, 13-3 last 3 seasons and won a super bowl. Was super bowl MVP 3 years ago. Went from the Giants to the Seahawks.

#9 talented QB Michael Vick- Still developing because of injury problems, however had his best season ever last season managing to stay healthy. Lifted Atlanta from a 4-12 season 2 years ago when he only played in 5 games to 10-6 and a playoff birth. QB rating of 79.9. Went from Atlanta to New Orleans.

#10 talented QB Floyd Taxin- #1 draft pick in my first ever draft. Hasnt completely developed. Currently is listed at 63 overal and future potential at 95! Last season had a 79.9 QB rating in starting 16 games for the
7-9 and improving Carolina Panthers. Fell into the hands of division rival Bucs.

I can't imagine teams in real life valueing their #1 QB this little. Most of these guys were either in their prime or about to enter it and were let go by their teams. I know a value has been assigned to each position, but maybe there is a need to assign an even higher value to QB's. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Level wall street, using x factor, allow team chemistry, allow hiring firing, and used an alternate player file, i dont even know how to turn off inflation but no i didnt do it

and to go a step further the cap is going up a little more than 3.5 million a year

Start a new career, sim through the first season, and check out Manning's salary demands. I don't think the Colts can sign Manning without destroying their roster. QB salary demands are incredible in this game. I like that, but it does mean that players will be changing teams more often in the game.

I guess it is alot, but all the QB's going elsewhere seems kinda excessive to me, oh well, looks like the top and bottom teams in the league could flip flop this season, its just a shame i was all capped out and couldnt get in on a good WR to go next to owens. Marvin Harrison went to the Ravens and Chad Johnson went to the Bills which seems excessive to me also that the #1 WR Johnson and #4 Harrison would be free in the same season also.

I think some of the star player salary demands get sort of ridiculous, and I'm interested to see how that plays out in multiplayer. I wonder if a lot of stars like these will fall into the post-draft free agency round and sign short contracts there as few human players are going to be willing to meet their $25m/year salary demands. I know I sure as hell never would...

In single player that's usually the key to success, let the computer get screwed on the big money contracts for premier players while you load up at every position with second-tier guys and keep your star QB locked down as the franchise player. We'll see what happens in multiplay, but I suspect there may end up needing to be a patch here..

I just had the opposite problem playing as Cleveland in 2007. Willima Green wanted a mint to resign. I wouldn't give in. He went through the regulare FA period, no offers. he still wanted 9 million bonus and around 25 million for three years. No bids in the secondary FA. I gave him a 18 million, 3 year offer on day 8, and wouldn't even consider it. "want to wait for offers closer to asking price."

After the secondary FA, he now wanted a 12 million bonus, and I didn't even look at the ludicrous salary demand.

Hit the training camp button, watched as my draft picks and FAs came in nicely, then checked to see what he wanted now, but he wasn't among the FAs.

I checked to see where he went.

He signed a 1 year with KC for $660,000.

The key there is the 1 year thing. He's trying to get a bigger contract but knows (or the program simulates his knowing) that if he doesn't play this year his chances of looking important next year are slim and none (and Slim just left town..)

You can "call" it whatever you want... the truth of the matter is that FOF has done this since the beginning. Free agents will sign for much less money with computer teams than they will sign with your team. I just sort of accepted it as part of it....

I would love for some sort of patch to fix the salary demands, its just not realistic for all of these guys to walk each year.

Actually the point I was trying to make was that he signed at a point where I had no opportunity to sign him. After turning me down, I hit the training button, and he was signed with KC.

I'll try a one year contract offer this next FA period since he's off KC's roster now.
