Hi all, I'll keep it short - for anyone interested I released the update 1.2 yesterday. You can follow the link below to see the improvements and to get the file. Many of the suggestions from the forum members here were added and the sim engine got a few updates to make the stats look a whole lot better.

Gary - I downloaded last night around 9pm and started writing a long "first impressions" piece for this site (which I hope to finish up tonight).
Long story short - what time did 1.2 get uploaded to the site? :)

1.2 was uploaded about 5pm EST. However that was just the patch exe - if you downloaded the demo last night I dont believe the demo had the new exe put into it yet (it takes a bit of time to redo that whole install package) but all you would need to do is go to the above link and download the zip and follow the instructions on what to do with the new .exe and a graphic file that is in the zip as well.
When you start the game the intro screen will say version 1.x - if it says 1.1 you need to get the patch :)
And as always, I look forward to seeing your impressions and thoughts on what you like, what you dont like and how it can be improved

Bee, I will look into that for you and let you know. I dont really know much about how the eLicense works - I just write the code and 400 does all the selling/marketing :)

Bee,
I talked with Viatech about this and the security risks are too high to allow someone to "reset" their 3-day demo status. The moment they allowed that, someone would come out with a crack to allow continuous play.
I wish we could give you a better answer but it seems like this is a security reason. And, in this day and age of software piracy, it's usually better to be safe than sorry.
Arlie
Ok. I can see where something like that could happen. Thanks for checking on it Arlie.

What did everyone decide about this game? Is the drafting and game play worth it?

I'm waiting for another patch/update before I try it as people are still reporting multiple bugs and I don't want to waste my demo time on a version with multiple bugs.

Just for my clarity what are the multiple bugs still being reported that you feel are hindering you from trying the game? I know of one or two minor ones that popped up recently but as far as I am aware most are gone now

Some of the issues that I've seen reported on the forum include:
- issues with being unable to see stats in the scoreboard on the most recent version.
- Issues with being able to substitute on the fly.
- Issues with entering the substitution screen and it gives your players an energy boost.
- Injured players not coming off the IR in the post season.
- Players healing from injuries miracously quick.
These are just things that I gleaned from the .400 message boards. I don't know if they are there or not, but I'm waiting until these type of bugs are gone before I try out the demo, because my decision to buy or not buy is going to be based very heavily on my enjoyment of the demo and I understand that we can only try the demo once.
Also, not a bug, but one poster noted Allen Iverson had 12 blocks with the most recent roster set and most recent build. This makes me think the stat engine may need to be tweaked more before I try the game. However, I must commend you Gary on what appears to be excellent customer support and an apparent desire to make the game great.

of those issues....
1) was because he didnt reboot after installing
2/3) are because they are doing something unconventional on the game play screen
4) is not a bug but a rule - you cant change your IR status for the post season (but it does need some AI tweaking to who goes on the IR and when)
5) is a bug and will be fixed in the next update
with the Iverson thing, thats the only reported incident of it and to be honest Im not really sure what happened with that - its an isolated incident as of now so who knows.

dola
BTW, Im not trying to pick fights or anything over what people think/say about the game - I just want to know what issues are instead of people generalizing about things - generalizations are never good (either positive or negative) when I'm trying to find areas to improve the game in.
Well, I think it's a good idea to wait to try the game until it's patched completely if you are unsure if you want to buy it or not. I'm regretting jumping in early to try the demo since now I can't try the demo again and I was really not happy with some aspects of the game from the original version (mostly the interface, but not exclusively). While I can read the list of things that have been fixed, there's no way for me to decide if those fixes make the game sufficiently playable to warrant a purchase for me specifically. So I think waiting to try the demo until most (if not all) of the bugs/changes have been worked out will be what I do in the future.

Gary, I respect you taking the time to answer. I'm not sure I understand how 2 and 3 are from people doing unconvential things on the game play screen. Can you please elaborate?
As for Iverson, granted it was only one time, but 12 blocks in a game for Iverson is just amazing considering I hear he has a 56 block rating in the game which is very low from my understanding of the roster sets (which is limited.)
That being said, I'll wait and see. I hope (and believe) the game will be tweaked further and improve in the upcoming updates, enhancement packs, or whatever you all decide to call them ;). I wasn't trying to pick a fight. I was just stating my opinion from reading the .400 boards that there appear to be issues still that need to be resolved before I will use up my 3 days of demo. I hope I really like it and want to buy the game when I do finally check the demo out. Thank you for adding something to the genre.

np Eagles - the thing is they are not stopping the sim when trying to make these subs so the game is running while they are doing it hence making things happen that shouldnt - there is an option that does not stop the sim on a dead ball and they have that turned on - what they should do is turn that off when they want to sub (its just a single click on the actual game screen) and then sub at the deadball when the game stops and then can go back to playing without stops until the next time they decide to sub

are you planning to fix that gary? maybe someone would rather que up some subs while the game is running and then have them put in automatically at the dead ball without a stopage...82 games is a really long time stopping at every dead ball

I'm in the same situation. Wish I would have waited to try the demo.:(

No, there's really no way to fix it but you dont have to leave the entire game on stopping at each deadball - just click that option to turn on stop at dead ball when you wish to sub. Then the game will stop and you can make your subs. Its the same as queing up subs except this way you never lose sight of the game itself and its just one click to make it stop at the next dead ball and after you sub you can click it again to let it continue through dead ball situations until the next time you want to sub. Its really simple and works the same as queing up subs or something like that.
