All right guys, lets hear what you are all getting her this year. Hopefully I will be stealing at least one of your idea's.

I-Ninja for the PS2. She's a game fiend.
Saves me a lot of trouble. Don't think it'll be much help to you, though.
Glass figurines tend to work well if you haven't played that card before. They are just girly enough, without being sappy. And she'll never be quite sure how much you spent on it.

Deciding what to buy my wife for Christmas each year is one of the biggest agonies I face. I never know what to get her. She doesn't like days at the spa, or other things that many women like. She doesn't particularly like anything useful (not that I blame her.) Usually there are only a couple of options - games (she likes games almost as much as I, but usually really "cute" games such as animal rancher or Monster Rancher. However, she explicitly has said she doesn't want any more games this year as she is working a lot and in school and she doesn't have time to enjoy any more games now. Jewelry is always a nice option, but we have a set gift limit of 200 dollars for each other this year, and to buy her jewelry which has any kind of quality would mean she is only getting that one thing. So, I'm left scratching my head as I have been at this time of year for the last 5 years since we got married. So, I'm hoping people have a suggestion that sounds really good too, so I can steal it ;)

New rocking chair, which we already bought and are using
Gold anklet
Camera
Some sort of "green machine" carpet cleaner (more of a household item, but hey, she wants it, not me, so it goes in her column
That's probably about it, since the above 4 items cost about $800+.

I'm getting the little lady a cedar porch swing thing that has a canopy and its own frame. I guess a porch swing without the porch.

This is easy. Been married nearly 30 years. The answer is twofold:
1. Get her whatever she wants. Make a show of it, i.e., "What do you want for Christmas, baby? You tell me, I'll get it. I love you that much." Most women are reasonable and won't go overboard and will end up with something they really want and will love you for it.
2. Additionally, get her one surprise that isn't too expensive that will be something she might like that is not practical, like jewelry, a book, wine, perfume, something like that. Even if she doesn't really like it, she'll like the idea that you got it for her.
Do the above and you will be hooked up Christmas night.

Wonder Woman Underoos.
Or, get her her favorite "chick" flick on DVD and sit down and watch it with her on Christmas day or Christmas eve.

That's my plan as well, my fiancee and I have a limit on how much we're spending this year as well, so I am trying very hard to stay within our budget but still do a few things that she'll really like.
And that's all I can say about that, as she occasionally reads this board and I don't want to take any chances.

Does she like movies? Go onto ebay and buy some kind of memorabilia from her favorite film. Like a movie poster, a signed photo of the star(s), something like that.
As an example, I've seen "Initech" coffee mugs on there (from Office Space).

A middle-aged guy is out to dinner with his wife to celebrate her fortieth birthday.
He says, "So what would you like, Julie? A Jaguar? A sable coat? A diamond necklace?"
She says, "Bernie, I want a divorce."
"My goodness," he says, "I wasn't planning on spending that much."

That worked pretty well for me last year, actually.
But, you have to balance out the whole love thing with actually having to sit through an entire showing of "Grease". Ugh.

No way. The first Legally Blonde was actually OK, Grease is unberable trash. And chicks love it, and have every song memorized.... I can't express how much I hate that movie.

Amen, brother.
I'm having the bedroom redecorated. We are going to Florida to visit some of the family for Christmas and I've picked a couple small gifts to give her there (jewelry mostly), but the big gift is the bedroom. She's been wanting the bedroom redecorated for a while and has been cutting out sample bedrooms out of decorating magazines. I made color copies of her magazine cutouts and took them to a decorator we've used in the past that my wife loves. Everything should be done by the time we get back. Hopefully this goes over well and I don't end up sleeping by myself in our new bedroom. :D

take this into consideration though:
1) this is our second, so we've been through the sleep depravation training once
2) see that I'm posting mroe during the day now
3) we will be having NO holiday parties this year, this'll be our main "recharge the batteries before the storm hits" period :)

I heart cthomer and Butter.
I cannot stand that stupid movie. I don't like the music. I don't like the story. ONJ is cute, but not cute enough to waste 90 minutes on that horrible film.
My wife will watch this thng every single blasted time it comes on TV. What is the deal with women and this movie? Do any guys like it?

cool, cool! We had our final ultrasound two weeks ago and the doc was able to estimate the weight at birth to about 8 to 8 1/2 pounds. Should be a big boy by the looks of it :)
Back on topic, I have found what I'll give to the mommy here, although it probably won't help any of you... See, our insurance policy pays for a double occupancy hospital room after delivery. We were kind of all set to accept that. My gift to her: we're upgrading to single occupancy for her whole stay in the hospital... :)

Seriously, avoid appliances at all costs. Every year at X-mas my wife reads me the riot act on that one. Our first X-mas together I went hogwild and bought every damn kitchen appliance you can think of, spent several hundred bucks, and these were all things she constantly nagged at me that we needed. So the response, lukewarm at best. DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES.

I agree with that. I got her a stand mixer last year, one of those big honkin' $100+ Kitchen-Aid deals that she had seemingly been drooling over all year, then I break it out as the big last present and the actual response was:
"Why'd you spend all that money?"
The hoped and desired response would've been something like calling over childhood friend Drew Barrymore for an immediate 3-way.

Agree heartily. Its counter-productive:
1999 gift for her: Deep-fat fryer.
2000 gift for him: 3-speed power drill.
