Despite the valiant attempts of a few individuals, I think this league is probably DOA...

Anyone else get that feeling?

I thought the general plan was not to get rolling until after the new year.

Define "rolling".

I'm still willing to participate. I think we have to wait until after the holidays, though. Don't take my silence as lack of interest. I just don't have much to say at this point.

I will say that I am having so much fun with single player that I don't feel that I need the league as much as I did when this first came out. FOF2004 is the first incarnation that does not make me miss FOF2.

I was under the impression that Vic and some others were going to work on a league constitution, and we were starting after Christmas. Since I'm not interested in all of the ins and outs of the rules, and other team's logos, I haven't been paying much attention to this area. Have I missed something?

there isn't much to talk about. while i don't see why it should have taken this long to get started, it's probably best to wait until after the holidays since the rhythm would have been interrupted anyway.

no worry about this league being dead though, there's too many big names involved with this to be left for dead. we have the creator of the game in our league and the forum most prolific poster, we'll be jsut fine.

we also have Hell Atlantic.

I'm still in for this. Just nothing much going on right now. If someone were to set us on a strict plan to get us on to the first stages of the league, I would be following it all the way.

It was also my impression we were going to wait until after Christmas and maybe the New Year to really get started.

As far a simming games go, that is definitely the case. I think until then it's just a matter of testing, discussing possible issues and otherwise setting things up so we're ready to play after the holidays.

For instance, we could be settling on what we want to do for the draft (preference or full, OPU vs player file generator), or could be starting the draft in earnest, considering it might take a while if we are picking through some/all of the rounds.

We got to make sure we have solid rules and regulations in place because we certainly don't want to be bogged down once we get started.

I'm still in of course.
We just all agreed to start the league in January.
It's boomarked in my agenda.

There were some votes/discussions of certain issues already. If Vegas Vic could post here (or in the constitution thread) about what issues have been decided at this point, that would be great.

Discussions, yes, but not covering every issue I don't think. As far as votes go, I think the only votes we've had were for a fictional player file, Vic as Commish, and divisional alignment. We've discussed the position change issue, but I don't think we've had any consensus solution. I think the bug TRO found (in season FA's) is also something that we will need a solution for (board auctions, or some sort of waiver preference system) until it is fixed in a patch.

I think a lot needs be done in the league "testing" realm. About 50 aspects of the constitution need SOLID answers about how multi-player aspects work. We simply can't do much without that info. Otherwise we're going to either be shooting in the dark or force the league to make up some things as we go along (in year 1).

The better question is, is the testing dead? I feel like without any feedback from that department - we're forced to remain at a standstill.

dola.

and in general, I must say that right now I have a pretty bad feeling about this whole thing.

I'm still in. Although I am moving on January 10, which conflicts with the proposed starting timeframe.

I agree with this. I had said all along that we have been underestimating the work and complexity involved (just take a look at the efforts FOBL has put it so far). Since the next two weeks may be dead, a January start may be optimistic unless we are willing to live with false starts.

I think that a committed group of people who start a league a month or two after some others do is going to end up being glad that they did.

I've got the entire month of January booked for responding with electric pace to Hell Atlantic's trade offers.

Oh shite, didn't leave any time for lineups. Oh well.

I'm still in. Wouldn't miss it. I'll have school then, but hell, I can use my dynasty report as my English 105 (Creative Writing - Fiction) assignments, right?

....right?

Aw, hell.

Ditto what has already been said.

I check the forum once a week or so right now. I figure if there is a major announcement, someone will PM me if I missed it. :) I'll be a lot more active once the new year begins and we start into this full throttle.

personally, i'd like thank ceurvo72 for the work he's done in getting stuff set up. i see a lot of work being done to get some concrete shit down. i'd also like to cmmend cthomer for having an active role too. at least those are the 2 names that pop into my head readily

we really should be ready to go by January. anything more than that then the fun-factor will start to decrease. stuff is bound to pop up, i've been in an OOTP league for a while and bugs still pop up. the first year is never gonna be smooth. we'll get our feet wet and cross bridges as we come to them.

Not a prediction. That was my passive-aggressive way of getting other people to get the league up and running ;)

Yet somehow we survived--nay, THRIVED--anyway.
