OK :)

Here is a little XMas present, the first ITP Patch:
http://www.mirror1.ootpdevelopments.com/itp/itp101.zip

In order to install the patch, please copy the file ITP.exe into
your ITP program folder, for example c:\Programs\ITP!

Here are the things that got fixed or enhanced:
- Added the options to turn off box scores and game logs in the game setup.
- Added the option not to open the box scores after an ILB game
- Fixed problem with importing OOTP 5 leagues
- Fine tuned speed and defense development
- Increased the chance to increase talent ratings when reading books
- Stats now play a bigger role when GMs decide when to promote/demote you
- After you have played a game, ITP doesn't move to the next day immediately now.
- Fixed reported bugs

Enjoy!

Are those additions going to be in a future patch of this version or in the next version? This looks like a game with some promise to me and a fun little game right now, but with TPF just coming out it is demanding all of my spare time. I look forward to spending some time with ITP after a while, and hopefully after a few additions to the game.

Does this patch make the game fun?

I don't think any patch can do that MKH unless you thought the first offering was kinda fun. It's a patch not a rewrite. If you thought the game was fun but lacking it may make it fun. If you didn't enjoy it I don't think this patch will change your mind.

Marcus has nothing to do with TPF. His company is OOTP Developments and TPF is from .400.

And besides that, ITP is a much better role-playing baseball game than TPF is.

JK...Thanks Markus. I'm really enjoying this game as well.

Word of warning...

Before you waste your time getting immersed into a career with this new patch, I suggest you run a test to see if you can complete two seasons without a fatal, game-killing crash. Just start up a new game and hit the "sim entire season" tab.

I can't. Tried five times using both the import ootp5 league function and plain old fictional computer generated leagues.

My God, Markus, what did you do to the game?

The "proceed to the next day" dialog is TERRIBLE. HORRIBLE. NO GOOD. VERY BAD.

Sorry, I've been selling children's books all day. Let me try again.

I just played my first game in ITP since installing the patch, and find that what was at one time a rather Zenlike, flow-inducing routine of play a game, go to the next day, repeat, has now been lengthened by approximately 130 extra mouse clicks since I now have to manually advance to the next day rather than having the game automatically advance.

I am going to guess that the major reason the change was made was because players requested the opportunity to perform actions "after" the game. There's only one activity in the game that I can see that would be materially affected by such a change, and that's the effects of drinking at the bar.

Was reducing the impairment penalties for alcohol consumption such an important part of the design that it required making the day-to-day interface more cumbersome to navigate?

I'd like to sede an option where you can enter your starting spot in the game. it'll make the game much more fun for replay value. Waiting a long time before you start to do anything in the majors doesnt hold that nuch replay value
