View Full Version : Really basic FOF question

Greetings.

When I have my coaches choose the gameplan or hit the recommend button on the gameplan screens, is the computer setting the gameplan based on my personnel versus the next opponents personnel? (If my opponent has a weak left-side OL, will my RB have more attempts towards that side?)

Furthermore, does my coaching staff's ability affect what is "recommended"?

Thanks in advance

I'm not totally sure, but I think it's based on your personnel and the opponent is not taken into consideration at all. At least, that's the way I see it.

I'm with Dutch, it appears to be based entirely upon your personnel, with no consideration of the opponent at all.

No idea whether the coaches factor into that or strictly just your scout.

I think TCY adjusts each game to the team you are playing against, although that doesn't answer your question.

I just figured that if TCY did it, FOF must.???

Hmmm.....I'll have to look again, but if I recall correctly, the recommended gameplay DOES change from game to game. This would at least seem like it is taking in to consideration the other team. But who knows.

I have seen it change on occassion, but I think it changes based on starting personnel. So if you have a serious injury to your running FB (for instance) you will see your numbers change.

Just curious as to why you believe that is the case.

Usually when i hit the recommend button for offense each week it stays the same, unless adjusting to new personel i have because of injury.

But, regardless of injuries or not, my defense has drastic changes every week when i hit the recommend button, across the board changes, every stink aspect of the defensive gameplan, if ya get what i'm saying here?

Anyways, with that said, i think the defense adjusts for your next opponent and your personel, while your offense adjusts to your personel only, and how your coaches think best to use them.

But i am probably wrong...... :)

Well, my defense changes all the time. If I'm playing Nebraska, after the game I'll see 52 or 34 defense displayed in my GP. On the converse, if I'm playing Texas Tech, I'll see 43 defense after the game.

TCY has a few basic defensive settings that are the same for each formation that you play against. That is, your defense will always have the same percentages when ever you face a Veer offense. It will change to the Pro settings if you face that. If you face teams that use the same formation, e.g. Power I, you won't see any changes.

The blitzing tendencies change based on your personnel.

On offense, you get the standard percentages for run/pass. Direction is based on your blockers. Your player skills will affect who runs with the ball.

In FOF, there has never been an AI adjusting the defense for your play calling. A lot of folks have been fooled by the message "That play looked familiar." But that event is triggered solely by a counter, and no defensive game plan adjustment is ever made.

Nice answer OldGiants, I will never look at this message the same again. :)
