Why pass on 3rd down up 7 in fg range with 1 minute left?

houston had 0 timeouts left..

you kill 40+ seconds and houston probably doesn't come back to tie :)

Guess missing the fg didn't help either.. but i digress

They're talking like Hawaii could've run the clock out, but I'm not so sure. How much time was left when the third down play was run? About 50 seconds? Run a play, let the official spot the ball, you still have maybe 35 seconds on the clock. Then the 25-second clock starts, and it runs down to about :11 before they run the fourth down play. If they tried a field goal and still missed it, Houston gets the ball with about :08 on the clock. No, it's not likely that Houston would've scored, but it's not like they never would've gotten the ball back. I'm not saying that June Jones made a good call, but the commentators are misrepresenting the situation.

Man you see the brawl at the end of the game..

Some houston player wound up and overhead smashed some hawaii player with his helmet

Yeah, a Hawaii player threw his own helmet at a Houston player, so the Houston player picked it up and went at the Hawaii team with it. I wonder what started the fight. Whatever it was, I'm sure it must've been pretty stupid. Why didn't the Cougars just walk off the field and let the Warriors celebrate?

It seems pretty stupid, but because his kicker has been less than reliable all season and another score would put the game out of reach, perhaps Jones thought that he could catch the Cougs off-guard by throwing to the end-zone, perhaps getting the easy TD. I wouldn't do that, but I could see a coach like Jones doing that. And besides, they won the game anyway, securing my Bowl Mania points.

I think the idea was it'd be tough enough to score 10 points in less than a minute, let alone 14.

Of course, it's easier to say that if the guy had made the kick, but it still worked out okay for Hawai'i.

What a performance by Timmy Chang.

I am sure it is no coincidence that Hawaii is involved in a fight like this about twice a year. I am guessing something happened that was missed by the cameras. Anyways it was disgusting and ruined a terrific game.
