Here is my scenario.......I purchased TPF, played it, and didn't like it. To me it seemed like I didn't have enough control over the Commish aspects of the game (couldn't even edit cities), amongst other things. I had been waiting months for the release of this game and it was a severe disappointment for me, so I ended up returning the game. I am a hardcore OOTP player, so that was what was pulling me toward that game.
So now I am leaning toward purchasing FOF. To me the biggest plus is the importing of college players from TCY into FOF. What, if anything, do you guys have to say about FOF? I know that was the first release of TPF, but how does it compare. Is there anything that FOF is lacking?? I've played the demo in both FOF and TCY, it seems solid but is very locked down in features. So if you guys have any advice, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

The only thing FOF is lacking in my opinion is that the draft isn't as immersive. FOF doesn't have a pretty draft with all kinds of comments. However, it does have a nice way of doing it with a variable range of skills viewable for each of your players as well as volatility viewable which gives you an estimate of how likely a player is to bust or boom. I think overall FOF2004 is a great game and is definitely more refined then TPF in its current state. However, you should know that FOF does not have a very pretty interface, but it does have a nice engine under the hood (to borrow a paraphrase from Quiksand who wrote up the beta diary for the game.)
In every other area besides the draft, I believe FOF2004 stacks up as well or better then TPF. I don't know of any bugs remaining that crash the game. The salary cap is very difficult to manage and the game is challenging.

From the demo I did notice the interface was somewhat graphically challenged. But if the game is solid, that what I care about. All of TPF's grapics may have sold it to me, but the gameplay is what got it returned. I think I can look over graphics for a solid and accurate game.
Are there any comments on the integration of TCY with FOF?? Do you guys use this a lot?? This is what interests me the most in this game.
Thanks again.

There are several good threads on the board about this in detail. You might want to do a search. However, one comment that sticks out to me and I've seen this is that the best pro players aren't always the best college players. Sometimes players who have high potential in TCY, but never reach their potential (and therefore don't perform that well in college) end up being stars in the pro game. I integrate my drafts into my pro game and I like how it is done as I think there are definite parallels to real life in this aspect. Not every college star is going to be a pro star, but some of them will be.
