I have a gift card and I feel like picking up a PS2 game. I have no idea what to get, but I llike games of all different types.

Right now I have:

NCAA2004
Nascar2004
Ratchet and Clank #2
GTA Vice City

Anybody have a good suggestion on something new? I am a big fan of Final Fantasy 7.....anybody try that X-2 Final Fantasy game yet? What else is good...does not have to be limited to sports games of course. I just hate spending 50 bucks on a game and finishing it or being bored with it a week later.

anyone? I don't play PS2 a lot but figure this is a good time to buy a game since it would be practically free. :)

Metal Gear Solid
Socom II (If you have a modem for PS2)

Thats all I can think of right now

FF X-2 is pretty dang good, although you can pick up FF X for 20 bucks if you haven't played it.

Checkout gamespot.com and ign.com for game ratings. I usually go there first and read user reviews before I buy or rent.

Hope that helps.

both ffx and ffx2 are good games. ffx2 is cool in that its turn based and real time. there are time bars that have to refill but once they fill up enemies will attack whether you have moved or not. so its a little hectic and a fun twist on the traditional turn based battles.

i have heard that ff8 is good, although i haven't played it, and it seems that everyone who liked 7 hates 8, and vice versa

also, another rpg that really has fun with the genre is disgaea 2. all about getting stupid powerful and beating the shit out of stuff. a lot of strange japanese humor in it, too

FF8 is the only one that I haven't finished. Of course, it has been so long I can't remember why.

FFX2 has had the most involving battles to date (except FF Tactics), despite the cheesiness of the dressphere system. You have to be pretty quick with your remote and be able to focus on a couple of things at the same time, which is pretty novel for an RPG.

FFX2 is a sequel to FFX, but you don't have to have played FFX to enjoy FFX2, but you should play FFX first because it is $20 and because it is the best FFX in my opinion.

I got FFX-2 for Christmas; I'm in the middle of playing through FFX and am really enjoying that, so I would definitely recommend picking up one (or both) of them, especially since FFX is so cheap now. Other than that, ESPN College Hoops is good but very frustrating at the same time.

Uh oh. I hope the Final Fantasy debate doesn't start now.

FF X seems like the way to go....then I have 30 bucks extra for a couple DVD's or another PS2 $20 game! Thanks guys!

I've been getting into this LucasArts game called "Gladius". It's a combination sim/RPG where you have a school of gladiators and you compete in a turn based style of fighting. I've been having a good time with it, and I imagine it has some replay value even after you've gone through the "main storyline".

Even though you sound like you've made up your mind with FF, I also would recommend Gladius. It gets a little repetitive at times, but overall I find myself drawn back into it almost every day for at least an hour. It is a good strategy type game, along the lines of final fantasy tactics although I think this game does several things better and the storyline is a lot of fun.

I like Gladius a lot, too. The game is freakin' loooooong. Last I checked, I'd put about 20 hours into it, and I'm only roughly a quarter of the way through it. It's a fun turn-based strategy game, even if it does get repetitive sometimes, like Eaglesfan27 said. Go with your gut, though, and just pick someone you think you'll like.

I'm also just a little over 20 hours into it and also about a quarter of the way through.

Now you guys have given me 2 options with Gladius and FF X. decisions, decisions. I probably won't get to Circuit City for a couple of days, but I will let you know which way I go.

Check out reviews and word of mouth on Culdcept, if you can find it in stores right now, because it's been selling rather higher than anticipated in its first pressings, from what I've gathered. Might be your sort of game, I don't know.
