I watch the full-game on the scoreboard every week and have noticed strange QB substitutions for both my team and my opponents four times in eleven weeks.

1) Game tied at 23 going into OT. Both QBs putting up good numbers and my coach decides to start the OT with the backup. I nixed this by going into the call-play menu, selecting my starting QB and then having the coach call the play. The starter played the remainder of the game.

2) The score was 17-16 in my favour late in the 3rd quarter. The opponent AI pulls their starting QB for no apparent reason. He's not injured and was on par with my QB stats-wise as it was a tight game (19-30, 226, 1INT). The backup QB proceeds to go 7 for 24.

3) I'm up 14-10 late in the 3rd quarter. Again, my coach pulls the starting QB and I quickly rectified it like above in #1. I did happen to notice this time that the pulled QB had a stamina of "NONE". He only missed one play and was still "NONE" when I put him back in which didn't seem to hurt.

4) I'm up 13-9 with about two minutes to go. Their QB is at 21-35, 253, 2INT. They get the ball back and put in their backup to run the two minute drill. First pass from scrimmage is an interception. He ends up 5-11 with 2 INTs.

My QB's playing time is set to 5 (AVG).

Any ideas what's going on?

I wonder when or if the AI would of put your starting QB back in? And which one of your QBs has the better 2-min ratings?

If your down/tied late in the game is it time to bring on that "Captain Comeback" QB?

Ok. I checked all of the 2min. ratings for each of the above QBs involved.

#1 & #3:
My starter: 2-min offense 92/92
My backup: 2-min offense 56/56

#2:
Their starter: 2-min offense 53/90
Their backup: 2-min offense 3/13

#4:
Their starter: 2-min offense 27/54
Their backup: 2-min offense 10/57

The AI seems to be pulling non-injured, decent starters with good/ok game-day production.

I'm thinking the AI might be look at the stamina rating as it hits "NONE" and then substituting the QB.

Hmm..That was my guess.

BTW--- Has anyone ever seen a QB rotation system? Where QBs are going in and out of the game like your starting RBs. I have never seen a pulled starter ever return to the game.

I'm not keen on this "Playing time" thing because we realize that it often makes up for funny situations like those mentionned above.

I wonder what others think about it but to me, too often, we see strange substitutions that bear no meaning at all.
That's a glitch in the game.

I remember a previous version had a problem with playing time when set to the extremes (1 or 9). I've tried that with a couple of key personnel and it doesn't seem to cause a problem.

I still don't believe that a starting QB wil ever come back in once the AI has taken him out. At least that is what I have seen in my own sims.

With my QB setting to 1. My starting QB was replaced in the 3rd quarter for I am guessing Endurance reasons, non injury. Halfway through the 4th my second string QB goes down with an injury. BUT, the AI then brings in my 3rd string QB eventhough my 1st string QB is 100% healthy and ready to go.

Well then this obviously has to be re-examined at some point.
