I'm sure this guy isn't going to get as much crap as Michael Jackson did, but doesn't the picture on this page remind you of Jackson dangling his kid over the balcony? What in the hell is wrong with people?

Perhaps the reason he has chosen to dedicate his life to working with crocs is he feels like he has a lot in common mentally with the great beasts...

Considering he's a professional and he's done this all his life i'm sure he caculated what risk was involved, which croc he used and figured it was okay.

I don't see it as Parent of the Year material, but I didn't think Whacko Jacko deserved as much slack as he received for his little spat either.

Tell me the lasttime a Croc jumped up and grabbed anyones throat.

Crocodiles and Tigers are two totally different animals.

I'm not saying this was okay, but like I said, I'm sure he knew what risk was involved, much better then you or I for sure.

Since he wans't wearing his Air Jordans to croc probably wasn't going to bite him in the face. Is it possible he bites him in the leg, he falls and crushes the kid?

It's hard to argue with your logic though since the Croc Hunter probably knows more about crocs than me and crocs and tigers are in fact different animals...

I really don't have a problem with this. He is around those things all the time, and has managed to keep all of his anatomy intact. He knows what he is doing. His son will most likely follow in his dad's footsteps. Be prepared to see this kid exposed to a lot more danger over the years.

And families that raise their kids in acrobatics shouldn't train their kids to twril and spin in midair? Kid is probably more safe in his father's arms right then than at any time he is buckled into a child seat and rides in a car.

I'm not privy to the training procedures but I'd venture that not many make it out to midair at 1 month...

Damn, do any of you have children ? No matter how much he is around the beast, it still does not diminish the potential danger he could have been in. Straight from his mouth:

"I've been injured more times than you can poke a stick at. I've recently had shoulder surgery. Three surgeries on my knee. I've got scar tissue on scar tissue on my hands. But you know, I've never had a real serious bite from any animal. I have never been bitten by a venomous snake or hospitalized. I've taken a few bites from non venomous reptiles but its always been my mistake, not the animal's. "

What if one of those mistakes was when he was holding the crocs dinner in one hand and a baby in the other ! That defenseless baby would have been gone in one swallow. What he did was just plain old stupid.

That's pretty much what I was thinking.

I am a parent, and I know how protective I am of my daughter. I also understand that he is a parent as well as a reasonable person, so I am fairly sure he would have the same protective instinct/feelings that I do. I think the kid was perfectly safe. He is quite simply NOT going to do anything to get his son injured.

Quite frankly, I think his kid was safer in that situation then most children are when taken for a normal car ride.

The mans been bitten before. I've seen it, and it was on tape. He was just extremely lucky that the croc didn't roll, and take his leg off then.

Did he plan that? Hell no.

That means he doesn't always know what's going to happen, and accidents do, and have happened involving him.

It's plain stupid to even take that risk. No matter how smart, or good you think you are.

I love these little tempests in teapots that arise from time to time.

I guess I'd get heat for dangling my child too close to a hot media plan.
