FBCB Dynasty - Towson Tigers

While this will not be the first FBCB dynasty to be posted here, I hope that I can keep an interesting and hopefully long running journal of my progress at the controls of the Towson Tigers, where I will soon attend school (still working on getting out of community college). Towson has not fielded a competitive team in nearly a decade, and fans here (including myself) are quite frustrated with the lack of progress. Hopefully I can turn this team into a contender.

I created myself as coach (Todd Brown) and made myself a level 5 coach. Here is how I broke up my points:

Recruiting: 70
Scouting: 35
Offense: 60
Defense: 35

Our team prestige is 26 and the AD’s goal for me is to avoid last place.

An experienced team but lacking in talent, although I was looking at some of our freshmen players and they appear to have some potential. Chauncy Hager appears to be the go-to-guy on offense this year with a JPS rating of 87.

I will try to post updates nightly, but busy schedule may get in the way sometimes. I’m going to move pretty quickly through the first couple of seasons as I like to turn the team into my own mix of players.

We hire a pretty crummy staff because we need to save as much money as possible for recruiting. We end up with the following:

I envision us giving up many points this year, especially since I love an up-tempo style of play. I will try to post the schedule tonight, if not, it will show up tomorrow.

Here is how our schedule ended up this year. All lower prestige teams to try and give the guys some confidence. Our strategy is simple, the pace is cranked up to 10 and the press frequency is also at 10, we will also look to use the 3 pointer. This Loyola Marymount style of play should benefit our shooters (Hager and Taylor).

The season was an absolute disaster, I only hope I can keep my job as I have managed to pull in a great recruiting class. The only positive is Arnoldo Dixon being named to the freshman all conference team. Here is a quick recap of the season.

Collins looks to me like a steal, a good inside game and solid defense.

This class gets us a ranking of 101, with North Carolina landing the number 1 class. I consider this great news as it is much improved over our 325 final ranking last season.

2004-2005 Season Preview

After a dismal season, I’m confident that that we can start to turn things around now. We lose four seniors off last year’s squad. Two of them were starters (Hager and Walker) and two of them saw little or no playing time (Cropper and Bolduc). We replace them with a solid freshman class, we also return Lawrence Barton, who scored 13 points per game last year and will have two red shirt freshmen in Kermit Jeske and Kristopher Ross. Our prestige has remained the same as has our goal of avoiding last place.

A rough start, after the Morgan State game it was clear we would have no chance against Maryland, we managed to keep the game somewhat close in the first half and still trailed by just 13 at the break before the Terps pulled away in the 2nd half.

The freshman Moskowitz leads the way so far, we haven’t shot the 3 well at all thus far, if we can hit those shots, I think we can at least compete in conference play, December is going to be a tough month it appears.

December/January Recap:

After a slow start to December, we finally turned things around, our 3 pointers started to drop and Barton started to play like the star we need him to be. Our full court press has also proven effective in forcing turnovers and creating easy buckets. The highlight of the season thus far has been dropping 107 on William & Mary, a game which saw Moskowitz get 5 steals, and Lawrence Barton score 27 points. After that we had some injury problems with Barton and Taylor that slowed us down, but with those two back to full health hopefully we will pick it up again. Moskowitz continues to impress on defense and offense, this guy has a bright future here.

We do recieve some bad news as Kermit Jeske ruptures his Achillies and will miss the rest of the season, we have yet to really see what this guy can do as he redshirted last year, he looks like a great player on paper.

Rutledge is a big time recruit who also put up big numbers in high school. That inside game looks great. I’m very excited about this incoming class.

We also put in a request to the AD to improve our training facilities, which are currently rated 26, good for 9th in the conference. We’ll see how that turns out.

February Recap:
We play a decent month of about .500 ball. Tony Rowley is still on fire scoring over 20 points on several occasions and hitting a game winning basket against VA Commonwealth. Our scoring has dropped some, though our shooting percentages haven’t gone down by much, the team doesn’t seem to be playing at quite the pace I would like them to. Lawrence Barton was at about 80% over the last few games of the month, we need him to be healthy in March.

We also get word that the AD has rejected our request to upgrade our training facilities. Maybe next year.

The game goes well, we put up 71 shots, which is a clear indication that the game was played at our pace. Daron Nicol makes up for an off night from Tony Rowly. Our full court press was on as we collected 13 steals. Now we will face number 2 seed Hofstra who beat us twice during the regular season by a combined margin of 35. We will need good 3 point shooting to stay in this game.

We shoot a dismal 32% against Hofstra and get blown away. We managed to stay in the game during the fist half as Hofstra also struggled from the floor, but as soon as there shots started dropping it was over. Lawrence Barton ends his career with Towson with a poor shooting night. Jose Smith also closes out his time at Towson with a 7 point, 7 rebound performance.

Here is the final info on the season. Much improved over last season’s performance. The future looks even better as 3 freshmen and a sophomore carried much of the load this year. We had spurts where we shot the 3 well and scored over 80 points consistently, if we can be more consistent from the outside next year and turn Bucher into a scoring threat we will be dangerous.

I'd kind of like to get some feedback on this dynasty, I know I've moved pretty quickly so far but it will get more in-depth as I get more and more of my own players on the team. Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

as far as getting more in depth, i think you just have to find what it is you want to do that separates your dynasty from the others. GB is adding a part now where he will be following a certain player and giving more detail on his playing. he does a good report and breaks it down nicely.

peregrine follows a coach throughout his.

i do a game by game and it moves very freaking slowly!

we each do our own little thing i guess...maybe you could follow a recruit each season as well and add it into your report. or maybe every once in awhile, a close game you have, report on it in more detail. maybe give your thoughts on the team as a whole and role play a bit. depends on what you like and what you think will fly.

keep it going though, people read but not everyone replies.

Yeah thanks for the advice. I think I'm at a disadvantage because I don't have nearly as much time to make my posts, I don't even have the game on my computer (i have windows 98), I have it on my girlfriend's computer. I'm over there a lot anyway but you can imagine she's not to happy when I'm sitting there on her computer.

I don't mind so much how many people are reading, I enjoy posting here as it helps me to stay more interested in my dynasty and makes it feel more real.
