At Bestbuy.com
First, click here (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcmcat7700050003&navHistory=cat00000%2Bcat02000%2Bcat02119%2Bcat02120&type=category&navLevel=5) (or go to video games--xbox--platinum hits).
Put Splinter Cell into your cart. It will show up as $5. Then continue shopping and add any PLatinum Hits game. Every game will cost $5. I just bought Splinter Cell (Already Own, but giving it to my future bro-in-law), Morrowind, Max Payne, Ghost Recon, Hitman 2 and Project Gotham Racing for 31.50 after tax. Do an instore pickup, as all games are on backorder.
YOU MUST HAVE SPLINTER CELL IN YOUR CART FOR THIS TO WORK. Not a bad deqal, but I wouldn't be suprised if Best Buy cancelled all the orders. Anyway, I'm picking mine up tomorrow night after I return from Columbia (my sister is having her baby tomorrow, so I'm going down for the day).
Anyway, have fun, and good luck.

I would put money this deal doesn't go through. I read on one site that someone ordered 300 games and planned to sell them on eBay. Even when you order, you'll notice everything is on backorder. Not a good sign. Best way to take advantage is do in-store pick-up.

Its people who order $300 games are the ones who ruin things for everyone else.

Hmmm, I picked up my 6 yesterday night. Haven't played them yet (Top Spin just came in the mail today as well). A lot of games I need to play.
I've bought 10 x-box games in the past month, and I've payed a total of $132 for them. Not bad.

Easy Mac,
Watch your credit card statement. I've heard, from more than a few people who took advantage of this deal (including those who did in-store pickup), that Best Buy--without customer notification-- "returned" the $5 games and re-charged individuals $20 for those exact games on their credit card statements. Again, Best Buy did this to people who had already picked up their games. Obviously this is illegal. Others who did not do in-store pickup had their backordered games suddenly cancelled.
FYI: Best Buy's Customer "Care" No. 1-888-237-8289

I haven't had either happen yet but I'll be on the lookout. I ordered for delivery and haven't been billed which is to be expected as it's a backordered product but I haven't gotten a cancellation email either.

well, Ill be on the lookout, but I think my card company has my back. That I and still have the receipt, and the confirmation email, and numerous printed copies of the order page.

DOla, if Best Buy changes my price later, their site says I can't return opened video games. Well they're opened. But if they change the price now that I already have the games, would I be able to return them?

There is no way they can charge you one price, refund that amount, then charge you $15 over the purchase price when the deal was completed at their stated and original price. Their mistake; their loss. Had they caught it in time, that's one thing, but they've already completed the deal. Don't even think about returning the games if they do that, and especially if they are toads about it and charge your card without permission. Just call your credit card company and contest the charge. You'll win. It's not like $4.99 for a $19.99 game is a unrealisticly ridiculous price for the things during an after Christmas sale. Best Buy is way out of line if they think they can do that.

Here is their policy
Errors on Our Site
Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is cancelled, Best Buy will issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge. Individual bank policies will dictate when this amount is credited to your account. If you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, you may return it in accordance with Best Buy’s Return Policy.
Nowhere does it say they can change the price after pickup, only cancel the order after its been charged.

I can't imagine just that bit of fine print gets them out of their hole on this one. I think that language applies to a circumstance where the listed price is $20, and they accidently bill your card $10. They're saying they can add on the $10 that they were supposed to bill.
There is absolutely NO WAY they can get away with charging more than they listed on the site. Talk to the BBB if they do, Easy Mac.

Well, in this case the listed price is not 5 bucks but 19.99 but when you order the product, that page incorrectly bills 5 bucks. It's a touchy thing but like I said, and I just checked, my order is still listed as pending and each item is listed as 5 bucks so at least in one case, they haven't done anything and like Godzilla Blitz says, it's not an unreasonable price for an after christmas sale.
I'm thinking they may be cancelling big orders ( like the guy ordering 300 items ) but going ahead and honoring the small guys. It would be a nice goodwill gesture and if this was a company that was known to even partially care about it's customers I'd assume that's what they were doing but this is Best Buys so only time will tell.

But that's interpretation.
Look, I'm not saying they can do it, and I'm not saying they can't. I'm not defending either position here. What I'm saying is, if they DO do it, that's the portion of the policy they're going to use to stand on.
Whether or not it's legally firm ground, I leave to the lawyers.

Yea', I also didn't realize the list price was $20.
Your stance seems right to me. It's really shaky stuff, but unfortunately nothing that any of us dimwits can figure out ourselves. And it's such a small order, that no legit customer (like Easy Mac) will be able to match up with their big-wig lawyers.
Please keep updating.

I was charged on my credit card, then received the email cancellation the next day. I expect them to return the money tomorrow.

You know, they do gain more by honoring the small orders. If they jack the price of my five games I'll just cancel as none of them are on my must have list and won't think about ordering from them again. I already refuse to shop in their stores ( because the one by me is so horrid - if there was another one that was better locally I'd still use the stores ) and it wouldn't kill me to stop using them online though I've had nothing but good experiences shopping with them this way.
It's really up to them though as in the online world there are reasonable alternatives to best buy. I know that I would be taking a stand on shaky grounds as I very well knew I was trying to get over on them when I ordered but if I were in their shoes I'd honor the deal and someone would be looking for a new job.
I wouldn't honor the big purchases though as they aren't likely to be true customers but rather opportunists and I hate opportunists anyway.

www.Cheapassgamer.com always has lots of good deals listed.
This was some flaw built in cause next week if you buy a certain 6-8 games(any of them), you can get 1 plat hit for 5 bucks.
I hear this was more succesful if you chose instore pickup.
And bestbuy.com sucks, I ordered a game off them(Skies of Arcadia legends for GC) when it was 10 bucks, they took my order. Then they told me it was backordered. Then the cancelled it :(.
And I was all legit.

I only ordered one game when the information about the deal was posted here. I received the cancellation notice today...

Same as I ordered. Hmm, I just checked my e-mail about half an hour ago and I got the same letter ( well it came in earlier but my spam blocker had claimed it ) but on the site it hasn't cancelled the order. I wonder what's going to happen there.
Have you actually checked your order on the website to see if it's been cancelled??
