View Full Version : FOF 2004 - Drafting teammates

Using Fido's wonderful utility I was just checking over my draft history over the years and noticed on several occasions that I end up drafting "teammates" (guys who played for the same school) in the same draft. During my current 2003-2032 Falcon's career it has happened in 9 drafts so far.
Just wondering if my experience is unique, but thinking it isn't.

I notice this sometimes when I do it, and on occasion will draft players from the same school in late rounds (adds a little something to the game, for me). One time I drated a MLB in the first round # 10 from Illinois, then in the 3rd round I drafted another MLB from Illinois (I switched to the 3-4 after this draft) and the 2 players played together for quite a few seasons, the 3rd round pick ended up being a much better player than the # 10 pick...go figure
Another time 2 of the top 5 players were RBs from Northwestern, I was very tempted to draft both and then just run the ball every play.

I notice it when I do it, since I put every player who's ever played for me in an Excel spreadsheet. I always think it's cool, and adds a little to the immersion.

I love when I end up doing that. It would usually be an early rounder and a late rounder.
I honestly haven't payed as close attention in FOF2004... i'm still working out my draft strategy.

Quite often when I draft a quarterback of the future, I'll pick up his center or one of his receivers in late rounds or after the draft. I actually drafted a quarterback and a receiver out of Houston I believe in FOF2 in the same first round. They had a brilliant rookie year together, then the quarterback tore up his knee and was never effective again.

Interesting concept, I may have to look into that in future drafts.

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a college by college breakdown of the number of players taken in each round all time, especially if there was one for the league and one for each team?
Oh wait a sec....there is...at least in the versionof the Reporter that I'M using. :)
